Name: Calliope 'Calli' Marshall
Age: 34
Sex: Female
Image: Nationality: Scottish/Greek Canadian
Policy: Being a pacifist in nature Calli doesn't like the idea of violence, but after seeing what the dragons have been capable of she's taken a
Hunters stance on the subject and views it as better if they were gone.
Strongest subjects: Physics and Chemistry
Description: Standing at 5'1 Calliope has a petite build which she's quite defensive about, with her being one of the smallest teachers. Usually dressed in a t-shirt and jeans, she's tried to balance professionalism with mobility by adding a cropped blazer and flats into the mix. Despite her young appearance, age has started to take it's toll on her and only a few weeks ago she discovered her first grey hair. Secretly it bugs her more than she would like to admit.
Personality: Carefully articulating her words before she speaks, Calliope can only be described as the type of person who thinks before she speaks and speaks before she acts. The only exception with it being when someone's immediate well being is in danger--which occurs frequently enough in the chem lab.
Quiet in nature most of her thoughts are processed on the inside before filtering them onto the outside; without it she'd be thought of as a mad scientist of sorts, with her ideas bordering on slightly incoherent to anyone but her. Because of Calliopes strong self awareness of this she strives to keep an orderly appearance, her inner thoughts only surfacing when caught up in a geek out with people sharing similar interests or ideas as hers.
Despite all of this Calli likes to think of herself as one of the 'fun' teachers and tries her best to be friendly to the other teachers and students even if it can sometimes be menial in her view.
Back story: Growing up in Canada to a family of five with two older brothers, Calliope was never thought of as the most athletic or talented of the three children, her parents even admitting that the inherent 'nerd gene' on her fathers side had definitely struck her. It wasn't thought of as a bad thing though, and unlike her brothers she wasn't enrolled in hockey or soccer camps but instead was sent to the science and robotics courses she enjoyed so much.
In school she didn't have the most friends, but she wasn't bullied either as she tended to stick to her sorts of people. Her grades fluctuating depending on her interest in the subject and only started to straighten out when she was threatened by her school counsellor that she might have a lack of University options if she didn't start paying more attention.
Once entering higher education though she was completely swept up with the curriculum, for once being able to choose the subjects that she wanted. It wasn't until the final year of her pharmaceuticals training that the meteor hit, her only luck being that she was a safe distance away from the impact in her ground floor apartment at the time.
With Canada being the new place to move to, there was a lot of influx in the medical field and a lot of demand for pharmacists and researchers, Calliope being at the front of the line with a fresh masters degree and the right know how. She was content with her job but not with the state of the world for a while and it wasn't until she was offered a job at the Survivors Academy that she truly felt like she was making a change. Packing up her bags she moved to chilly Ottawa in hopes of finally being content with her life.
