"Anyone who wants to make friends with those things feel free to go try to hug one, we don't really need you in the gene pool anyway."

a character in “World of Dragons: Survival Academy”, as played by VitaminHeart

Description

Name:Oren Kovalenko

Age: 18

Sex: Female

Image: Image

Nationality: Hungarian. Born in Budapest to a Hungarian Mother and a Ukrainian Father, she lived in both nations for a time before emigrating with her father to the northern areas of the US shortly before the crisis.

Policy: Hunter. Oren sees the idea of taming dragons as fanciful nonsense and a refuge for weak-minded individuals who are afraid of killing things.

Strongest subjects: Languages: Oren is trilingual, her first language being Hungarian, but necessity driving her to learn Ukrainian and English in order to deal with the change in
environment. Fortunately she turned out to have quite an aptitude for it, and speaks English fluently.

Sciences: Oren has a high IQ and a very analytical mind, something that lends itself well to science. Her particular interests tend to involve chemistry, biochemistry
and physiology

Description: Oren is generally wearing, along with her blue trench coat, heavy boots and some thick fingerless gloves. She tends to try and cover up as much as possible with her attire,
even when not caught up in the Canadian weather.

Personality: Oren is, in one word, harsh. She tends to come across as unsympathetic towards others, and often quite rude to them along with it. This is due to the fact that she holds herself to
a very high standard, and expects others to meet similar standards to earn any respect from her. These standards encompass a sort of ruthless self-discipline. She is strict
on herself in matters of study, diet, exercise, and seeking help on any matter, and likes to be in control of those things.

She cannot stand the idea of losing independence in any form, as a result the prospect of disability and long term illness bothers her a lot more than the prospect of death does.
It's partly due to her preoccupation with controlling her own life, and partly due to the fact that she doesn't really trust people in general, seeming to assume ineptitude or
ulterior motives in things quite often.

While she rarely seems to get along with people, Oren is honest and trustworthy in her work to a fault, and will fulfil an agreement regardless of any disdain or dislike for a
person. She also has the virtue of being virtually unflappable, never seeming to panic, even in some of the most dire situations, and with a decent ability to formulate plans on
the fly. She does indeed seem to shine when things are at their worse, and is at her worst when things are fine.

Back story: Oren, something of a euromutt with parents from Hungary and Ukraine, was born in Budapest, Hungary. She never really knew her mother terribly well, other than through some
of the rather bitter tirades launched by her father, but her presence was never really something she missed.

Her father, a former military officer, ran a very tight ship, and as a result, her upbringing was extremely strict. The man was always a little on the paranoid side, and had always
had his own ideas about the collapse of the civilized world. He had also made a point of never getting soft, something he pushed on his daughter as well. Oren was expected to
be fit, healthy, to know how to survive, and to keep good grades at school along with it, and the girl had the choice of rising to the challenge, or crumbling under the pressure.

After many years, and the rather difficult move to the US, Oren had gotten on top of the regime...and then the crisis had happened. What her father had always said had come
true. What he hadn't predicted was the incident about six months after the arrival of the dragons, when, while out attempting hunt, something enormous had come sweeping out
of the sky and had scooped him up effortlessly in its talons to turn into breakfast. As it had turned out, he hadn't been the only one hunting.

Oren knocked around the northern areas for a while, until the opportunity to join the 'Academy' presented itself. She saw it as a practical solution, and it presented safety
in numbers. After all, if a dragon did come after them...it would at least mean she wouldn't have to be faster than the dragon to get away...just faster than the slowest students.

So begins...
