Superman

Many see him as a naive boyscout whipped by his own selflessness. They will not, cannot, see him for what he is, a hero.

a character in “Worlds Collide”, as played by Bromander Shepard

Description

Name: Superman
Earth: DC Earth
Powers: Superman possesses the powers of flight, superhuman strength, x-ray vision, heat vision, cold breath, super-speed, enhanced hearing, and nigh-invulnerability. While Superman is immensely strong both in terms of muscle power and ability to take physical punishment, he is not all-powerful. He can be injured, bleed, and conceivably be killed, and sometimes he has been known to strain and sweat when performing superhuman feats of strength, as demonstrated when he is ambushed by Doomsday while catching his breath after using his own body to drill several holes in the ground to vent the magma from a volcano. Superman was once seen to hurl a huge comet through space to stop it from hitting Earth. Superman killed a whole army of Parademons with a huge blast of his heat vision. Superman also has the ability to precisely control his muscles, which allows him to imitate any human voice.

Superman derives his power from the yellow sun of Earth. Forced under a red sun akin to the red sun of his homeworld, Krypton, or exposed to red sun radiation, Superman rapidly loses his powers, reverting to the stature of a normal human.

Aside from red sun radiation, Superman's main weakness is Kryptonite, radioactive shards of his former home planet. Exposure to Kryptonite will rob Superman of his power, and with prolonged exposure, will kill him.

Superman's only other known weakness is magic, which can injure him as easily as it can any other being.

Appearance:

Personality

Superman is an extremely moral person, believing it immoral to kill anyone under any circumstances, and will do whatever he can to avoid it. Clark's upbringing in the Midwest largely contributes to this, as his adoptive parents raised him to do the right thing. This is known as Superman's "Boy Scout" persona. Even so, Superman's capacity for anger is a key element to many of the most dramatic moments in his career. It is in these terrifying instances that others see that Superman's goodness is inherent to his being, as he was imbued from a young age with a strong sense of purpose, morality, selflessness, incorruptability, modesty, fairness, compassion, and hope by his adopted parents the Kents. Superman was raised to believe that his abilities are gifts, and are not to be abused. In many ways, he is the perfect American hero, as he embodies all the best traits that people would believe to see in themselves.

Batman is quoted as once saying"It is a remarkable dichotomy. In many ways, Clark is the most human of us all. Then...he shoots fire from the skies, and it is difficult not to think of him as a god. And how fortunate we all are that it does not occur to him."

Image

Superman is also a bit of a loner, in that, for much of his life, he doesn't reveal his true identity and powers to anyone, not even his closest friends. Many times they come close to figuring it out on their own, but often he will arrange an elaborate deception to trick them into believing Clark Kent and Superman are entirely separate. He's known to collect mementos of his adventures and his life in the Fortress of Solitude.

Equipment

Nothing but his iconic red and blue suit which he wears under the standard clothes he dons as Clark Kent.

History

Sent as a baby to Earth from the dying planet Krypton, Kal-El was adopted by Martha and Jonathan Kent of Smallville, Kansas. Growing up as Clark Kent, he devoted his life to helping others with the abilities he developed from Earth's sun. Moving to Metropolis, he became Superman, while still maintaining his secret identity as Clark Kent, who works at the Daily Planet newspaper.

Since becoming the iconic symbol for truth and justice that we all know him as Superman has went on to, with the help of Batman and Wonder Woman, to found the Justice League. An intergalactic organization of superheroes committed to protecting the galaxy and all in it. The group has saved earth, in several different realities, on countless occasions.

The Justice League, led by the founding members, haveing become a force for good unparalleled in the galaxy and beyond.

Floating above the Earth, keeping a watchful eye on the planet below was the Watch Tower. The base of operations for the intergalactic peace keeping force known as the Justice League. Once just an idea, a fleeting concept born in the minds of three remarkable individuals. Now The Justice League has grown into a shining light for good. A team of heroes dedicated to fighting injustice and protecting the helpless. They have changed much since their humble beginnings of a handful of heroes flying out to address every situation with the same bold and overly heroic rashness. Now each threat is carefully analyzed by the Martian Manhunter who then assembles a team and dispatches them to deal with the threat. Each team is carefully chosen according to their skill levels, experience and needs of the mission itself. The leadership of the team however falls before a tribunal. A panel of the original seven members, those first few heroes who banded together to make a difference. While they are the ones who make the decisions for the League as a whole it is no secret that the ones whose words carry the most weight are the first three. Two of which were now about to discuss the unsettling matters plaguing the world.

Walking through the halls of the Watchtower the last son of Krypton was headed to see his friend. In the last few days something very strange had happened. The sudden appearance of the massive, machine alien life forms threatened the safety and stability of the planet. Beyond that there was a huge surge in the hero, villain population. It was if someone had just dumped a whole worlds worth of heroes and villains onto the earth. Superman knew if there was one person who knew what was going on it was Batman. Bruce did his best work at home in the bat cave but seeing as how he'd installed Batcaves in strategic places all over the planet as well as on the Watch Tower itself he was never far from home.

Superman pressed the readout on the wall and punched in his access code before entering the workstation of his long time friend. As usual the minute Clark stepped into the room he was bathed in darkness. Only the lights from the computer screens and countless different electronic devices dotting the room could be seen. Before the largest monitor at the end of the room was Batman. Sitting in front of his huge bat computer his fingers tirelessly typed away as he surveyed all the intel he'd collected up until this point. Batman didn't move or even respond to Clark's presence. He rarely did. Only a fool would take this for carelessness however. It was almost impossible to sneak up on the man. Superman made his way across the near pitch black room to stand at Bruce's side while he sat at the computer.

"You know, working in the dark like this isn't that good for your eyes."

Clark said with his trade mark boy scout view toward life. Bruce never even slowed in his work nor looked up from the monitor.

"I'm used to it."

He replied flatly. Superman chuckled slightly as he shook his head with a smile before putting a hand on the back of Bruce's chair and looking at the screen his friend was working on.

"Find anything out yet?"

"The invaders are not just alien. They're from an entirely different universe than our own."

Bruce replied matter of factly, still never stopping in his work. Clark should have been surprised to hear the news but he'd heard stranger.

"Different how?"

"Parallel. They are from an entirely different time and reality strain."

Clark crossed his arms over his broad chest as he allowed the information to sink in.

"Explains for all those new folks calling themselves heroes."

Superman said, his distrust of these new super powered individuals clear in his voice. For the first time Bruce slowed in his typing.

"You don't believe them."

"I don't know them. I can't be sure where their loyalties lie... not yet."

Batman grunted before going back to work.

"Rather pessimistic for you don't you think Clark?"

Superman smiled with a shrug of his shoulders.

"Guess you're rubbing off on me."

It was then that Batman's screen lit up with a flashing batsymbol before a read out of three individuals laying waste to the GCPD in downtown Gotham. Only one of the trio was familiar.

"Is that Bane?"

Clark asked as he stared at the screen.

"Looks like he found some new friends."

Bruce said as he stood up and grabbed a few things off his table and stowed them away in his utility belt with practiced ease.

"I shouldn't be long."

He said as he began to make his way out of the room before Superman began to follow after him. Batman slowed and turned to look at the Man of Steel.

"This is Gotham, I've got this."

"Save it Bruce, you know I'm coming."

Superman said as he walked past him with a bold smile. Bruce just shook his head, the faintest hint of a knowing smile dawned on his face before dissapearing. With that the pair had the Watch Tower teleport them to Gotham to deal with Mongul and his new allies.

The streets of Gotham were filled with chaos and the screams of wounded and dying police officers. A trio of savage killers had tore their way towards the center of the city looking for the one man who kept what order in the city, The Gotham City Police Commisioner Jim Gordon. Bane, the Venom infused super criminal and long time advesary of Batman had escaped his holding cell in Arkham and got it into his head to eliminate the Commisioner in order to cast Gotham into such a state of chaos the Dark Knight would be overwhelmed by the blood that filled the streets. He was emboldened now by the newly formed allegiance to two knew criminals that shared his pension for violence. The savage and ferocious mutant Sabretooth and the symbiote mad man Venom. The three super powered criminals were tossing police cruisers out of their path and slaughteirng everyone between them and city hall as the pushed deeper into the heart of Gotham.

The experienced Police Commisioner however had no intention of being some helpless victim to these psychopaths. The darkness of the city street in the late night hours were illuminated only by the red and blue lights from the squad cars and the newly arirved helicopters. Bright lights from the choppers shone on Bane and new allies. Swat vans cars skidded to a stop beneath them officers in full tactical gear poured out. One stood out as they pulled up in a standard, older model four door with a police light fixed to the roof. An older man with white hair dotted with grays. A thick yet groomed mustache on his lip gave the stern, chiseled face even more character. The man's face showed his age and years of experience yet looked strong as ever. Obviously a fit man even in his age he must have been an imposing figure in his youth. The man wore a pair of glasses that seemed to shine in the light from the helicopters. He wore a long brown trench coat over his suit. The aging police commissioner looked at three brutes with a stern yet unimpressed glare. Gordon pulled out a pack of cigarettes and smacked the pack into his palm a few times before pulling one out, putting it into his mouth and lighting it seemingly in one fluid motion. He took a long drag before exhaling the smoke.

"Barbara would kill me if she found out I started again..."

He muttered to himself as he looked up again at the trio, not quite sure of what to make of this new allegiance. Gordon had gotten used the maniacal rampages of Gotham's Rogues, from the Joker to Ivy to Bane but this was different. If one thing was certain the usuals were creatures of habit for the most part. Giant tree sprouts up under Gotham Memorial Hospital Ivy was usally a safe bet. If there was a bank robbery where Gordon and his men found a green box with a question mark on it chances were Riddler was to blame but this. This was odd. Recently Gordon and his men had picked up a few new faces to the Gotham under ground. Bane and his new friends were a perfect example of what ever whas going on.

"Get me a damn bullhorn before these nut decide to do any more damage."

Gordon grumbled to a nearby patrolmen. The Officer rushed off and returned with a megaphone in seconds.

"Here ya go Commissioner."

With a quick nod to the Officer Gordon held the bullhorn up and spoke through it.

"Bane, I'm not gunna give ya a bunch of warnings. Stand down and I won't have SWAT put a bullet in ya."

The massive hulking man man down the street only laughed as he grabbed hold of a nearby squad car and tossed it aside like it was an empty cardboard box.

"Idiota... With your death the bat will be lose his backing and the city will tear itself apart. In the chaos I will break him once and for all."

No sooner had Bane's words escaped from beneath his mask had a dark projectile shot through the air and sunk into the pipe sticking out of his back. Once lodged firmly in place it released it's payload and 30,000 volts of electriccity coursed through Bane's body causing him to scream in pain as he dropped to a knee. Venom and Sabretooth whipped around to see their injured party member as a black, shadowy mass landed a few yards away from the trio. Out of the darkness rose the watchful protector of Gotham City. Batman glared darkly at the three men with an unflicnhing gaze.

"You're going back to Arkham Bane."

Batman said, his stare holding the three men in the tracks. Sabretooth was the first to speak chuckling through his sharp teeth as he sauntered around to circle Batman.

"Soo...This is the runt you were talkin about Bane? He don't look so tough."

Sabretooth felt a tap on his shoulder and turned to look at a man floating behind him with bright S on his chest. The next thing he knew he receieved a punch to the jaw that sent the big mutant flying into a parked car with enough force to cave in the side of the car. Venom and Bane whipped around to see Superman fold his arms over his broad chest with a bold smile.

"You should all just give up right now."

Superman said with a confident smile. Bane growled with a clenched fist as the realization of how much trouble he was in dawned on him.

"Mierda! Kill them both!"

He roared to Venom and the now, dazed Sabretooth, beginning the brawl.

Jean dodged the runners and the screamers as she ran straight toward the fray, her long red hair billowing out behind her. She slowed her pace as she came upon the SWAT teams and the other general policemen that blocked the view of the scene.

"Ma'am, you need to stay back," one of the officers said, holding his hand out to stop her.

Jean didn't even bother to look at him. She delved into his mind and changed it quickly enough before slipping past him. She stayed to the outside of all the cars and men with guns, peering with interest at the scene before her. It was clear who would be considered the 'good guys' and who would be the 'bad guys' in this particular fight. One of the men was flying. That was nothing she hadn't seen before- although, usually one would have wings or some other obvious advantage that allowed him to fly. There were a pair of mutants, and two somewhat average men.

She touched the mind of the bigger man and immediately flinched away. So much anger. So much hatred. She leaned against a light pole to watch the brawl for a moment. The flying man seemed almost immortal somehow. Her gaze turned to the second man dressed in a black suit of some sort. Apparently these were the some of the… superheroes that had all of a sudden become a part of her world. Suddenly, the one in black was flying through the air in her direction after an especially swift kick from the big one.

Jean's hand flew up and she stopped his momentum, leaving him hovering in the air for a moment before carefully putting him back down next to the flying man. As for the big man, Jean delved into his head once more and took control. Suddenly he raised his hands in the air and turned toward the policemen. "I give myself up," he said in a flat tone. With that, he turned his back to them and knelt down on the ground, putting his hands behind his head.

Venom lunged, tongue whipping about for Batman yet the Dark Knight was much too agile. He dodged the mad swing of the symbiote and in the process let loose three batarangs. The metal projectiles however, did little to harm Venom. As the batarangs sunk into Venom's back the symbiote snarled and skidded to a stop before his body pulsated with undulating black tendrils and the batarangs were pushed out of his body. A sickly chuckle eeked out of Venom's throat as his tongue dripped saliva.

"You will have to do better if you want to hurt us."

Batman, lowered into a ready stance not saying a word yet noting the oddness in the fact that Venom referred to himself as two people, a behavior indicative of mental illness. It was then that Batman noticed the woman who appeared on the edge of the battle. Shortly after Bane did something miraculous and got to his knees before surrendering to the GCPD. Someone had already shown some level of telekinetic abilities while catching him after he received a hard shot from Bane and now it seemed that not only was this the culprit but that she also possessed some form of Mental Hypnosis, allowing her to override a persons free will and control their actions. Bruce was not aware how long she'd be able to hold Bane enthralled so he had to act fast. His gaze flicked back to Venom who was staring at him hungrily.

Batman had to act fast and released a smoke pellet masking his escape as well as surrounding Venom in a plume of thick white smoke. Venom coughed and cursed in frustration as his meal dissapeared only to land right behind Bane. In an instant Batman ripped the tubes delivering the venom to Bane's body therefore cutting off his supply of the steroidal cocktail. Bane shouted in pain before dropping to the ground unconscious, officially out of the fight. It was then that Venom apparently found his way out of Batman's with a roar and leapt at the Dark Knight so the two could continue their brawl. Venom collided with Batman and the two went tumbling off the street. As the two rolled in a savage mix of punches, snarls and kicks Batman gained the upper hand and managed to launch Venom off of him. The symbiote went flying backwards into a municipal truck carrying steel pipes for construction. The impact of the large criminal into the truck caused the bindings holding the pipes in place to shatter allowing it's payload to spill to the ground.

The street was filled with the sound of ringing pipes as they collided with the street. The loud sound dove deep into the body and mind of Venom causing him to scream in madedening pain. Venom put his hands to his ears in a feeble attempt to drown out the sound. Batman watched closely at the display and his brilliant mind put together what was happening quickly.

"The sound... He must be vulnerable to the sonic waves."

His hand went to his belt where pulled out his sonic batarang. Usually used to disrupt communications of thugs with the frequency switched all the way up it should wreak havoc on this new foe. Venom snarled as the ringing stopped and lunged at Batman only to drop to the ground in mind bending pain after Batman threw his batarang with expert precision. The projectile released it's payload and released an almost inaudible sound the to Venom was so loud it threatened to tear his skull apart. Bruce seized the opportunity to land a knock out blow on the symbiote villain by grabbing his head and slamming his knee into it. The blow rendered Venom unconscious leaving Batman free to turn and see how Superman was doing.

In no great surprise The Man of Steel wasn't having much of a problem with the burly mutant who snarled and roared like an angry animal yet was unable to do any real harm to the kryptonian. Sabretooth lunged at Superman only to catch a hard shot to the jaw that send him flying back, skidding across the cement like the rocks Clark used to skip across the pond back in Smallville. Sabretooth slowly got to his feet with a groan of pain. His eyes were laced with hate filled fury as he stared at the seemingly immovable object of the floating man before him. It was then that a familiar scent reached Creed's nostrils. He sniffed the air a second to be certain before turning around with a toothy grin, showcasing his razor sharp teeth.

"Hey there Red... You ain't seen Wolverine around have ya?"

He asked taking a step towards Jean Grey. It was in that moment that Clark realized the mistake he'd made. He hadn't noticed the woman standing there and had accidentally sent Sabretooth flying right towards her. Superman became little more than a blue and red blur as he sped between the two. Sabretooth reared back one clawed hand ready to shred Jean's face only to suddenly find himself having trouble breath as a hand appeared around his throat and lifted him off the ground. Superman stood valiantly between Jean Grey and Sabretooth holding the big mutant in his outstretched hand with ease.

"You know it's not nice to hit a lady."

Superman said scoldingly before hitting Sabretooth with a massive blow that sent him flying through a nearby building and leaving the mutant unconscious in a pile of rubble. Clark turned to look at the red headed woman in concern, and noticed the green and yellow costume she was wearing. Another superhero maybe?

"Are you alright miss?"

Clark asked politely only to be answered by Batman as he seemingly materialized at his side.

"She's fine. I doubt he could have hurt her anyway. She's a telekinetic and a telepath."

Batman said knowingly as he looked at her, measuring her with his stare.

Jean let out a sigh of relief when the big man went unconscious and she quickly slipped out of his mind. Her gaze went back to the rest of the fray, watching as the two men seemed to dispatch the mutants fairly easily. Jean was distracted, though, and didn't realize who Sabretooth was until he stood right in front of her, speaking to her. Her eyes narrowed as she watched the beast.

"Afraid I haven't seen him lately, no," she answered truthfully. Logan had taken off again without telling anyone and she hadn't seen him in quite some time.

She watched as he stepped closer to her and just as she raised a hand to take a hold of him with her powers, the flying man was suddenly there between her and the mutant. Jean watched with a hint of amusement as Sabretooth was sent flying through the air, to the other side of the street. This flying man was good. He reminded her of some of her friends. She tilted her eyes up to meet his when she asked if she was alright, but before she could answer, the man in black had come over to them and answered for her.

Jean smiled. "He's right, and yes, I am fine. Thank you for the intervention." She turned her gaze on the oddly costumed man in black. "And you… you're not a mutant." She tilted her head a little. She would not go into his mind against his will, but she was interested to know more. About them both, really. "I've never seen a… nonmutant fight like you."

As the three super-humans sized each other up, the ultimate task of deducing size came blazing out of the sky. The midday sun had already begun to sink below the horizon, casting a great shadow over the whole of Gotham.

The city which was famous for its general dreariness and the darkly hued facades of its buildings, all coming together with the bleak and dimly lit streets, would soon be overpowered by the blast of white flame from the rocket engine of the massive Autobot called Omega Supreme. Luckily for the city the area in which the giant robot would land had recently been cleared for demolition, five blocks of which had already been reduced too rubble.

It was on this very spot where Omega would touchdown for the first time upon this alternative earth. The unusually large rocket had come blazing into the area horizontally and would then turn vertically in preparation for its landing.

Omega was still hovering several hundred feet from street level, but before it commenced with its landing Omega Supreme called out to three humans below. He would issue a warning concerning the massive release of energy whenever the Autobot landed.

Omega's booming, deep and precise voice suddenly filled the air.

"Omega Supreme: Landing..... Potentiality: Lethal..... Seek cover: Recommended." These were the only words Omega would speak before he landed on the streets of Gotham city, which were already in ruins from the rubble of falling buildings.

Powerful blasts of plasma scorched the city streets as the sentient machine descended, the tremendous bursts of energy blasted and blacked the remnants of buildings surrounding the impact zone.

Even these largely demolished streets could not hold Omega's complete transformation, that of his rocket and its gantry, the patrol tank and approximately 500 feet of track.

Omega Supreme would therefore transform while still hovering and then land in robot mode...All 95 feet of his massive form.

"I've never seen a… nonmutant fight like you."

She said. She seemed to be searching for a word to describe Bruce. Some word that could accurately represent the man. The thought made Clark smile, he'd been trying to wrap his head around the man for years and never had much luck. Bruce didn't seem to react much to the compliment. His locked on the red haired woman held her fast and didn't waver in the slightest. Clark knew his long time friend didn't trust her. That being said he didn't trust anybody. As for Superman, his initial distrust of these new heroes was still there but he was willing to allow them to change his mind. This woman helped them stop Bane, and seemed friendly enough now that they were talking./ She had yet to attempt any sort of mental invasion which Clark saw as a good sign. Bruce would be able to tell if she had and would have knocked her unconscious by now if she had.

Bruce looked like he may have been about to speak up when the setting sun was eclipsed by a massive shadow. The three heroes turned to see what appeared to be a massive vessel descending down from the sky. The ship was enormous in scope, blocking out the sun in it's entity. The only light visible was form the jet's in it's rear, propelling it down towards Gotham. It was then that the ship did something miraculous, it spoke.

"Omega Supreme: Landing..... Potentiality: Lethal..... Seek cover: Recommended."

It said before transforming into a towering robotic construct and landing on a cleared spot of land in the city. Bruce's fists clenched under his cape as his mind was already calculating the death toll should something that size attack. Superman took a step into the air, hovering about a foot off the ground as he stared on at the gigantic machine, ready to hurl this thing into space and fight it up there should the need arise.

"I'll go see what it wants."

Superman said before racing off through the sky. The Man of Steel was sped forward, through the fire and waves of mechanic energy pouring off the robot.

"Get down."

Batman ordered while he ushered the woman to crouch behind the cover of an overturned trash truck alongside him. While the sheltered from the blasts of energy being put off Bruce's brilliant mind was already working out a way to deal with the enormous machine. The woman beside might just have the opportunity to prove her intentions to the Dark Knight if this turned into a fight. The white hot residual energy from the jet propulsion system would have scorched a human alive or blasted a vehicle through a building but not Kal El, not the Last Son of Krypton. Superman flew right through it all to address the titan of a machine that had just landed. He flew straight towards the robot and came to a stop at eye level with the machine. Superman hovered effortlessly before the giant robot unsure of how this conversation was going to go.

"Hello there. My name is Superman, are you friendly?"

For the first time in a very long time Omega Supreme had touched down on solid earth, it was a very satisfying feeling for him, apparently he had been traveling two universes for a lengthy period of time, so long that he had stopped calculating 100,000 years ago.

In all that time Omega had not been in contact with a single human being, though the number of aliens whom he had discovered in his travels, totaled in the hundreds, if not more. This was all in the past however, and if Omega should find himselef unable to get back he would make the best of the current Earth-like world.

The man in the multicolored uniform of blue, red, and white apparently possessed the ability of fly, though Omega doubted very much that his rather flamboyant outfit was the source of this ability.

"I am Omega Supreme...... Last guardian, and protector of the planet Cybertron...... I am an Autobot, sworn enemy of the evil Decepticons...... Destroyer of my ancient arch enemy Devastator."

The massive plasma cannon on the back of Omega Supreme's head tilted up to allow free movement as his head made a complete 360 degree turn to survey the world around him. "A sensation: This is a different Earth from the one I have known."

With a slight tilt of his massive head Omega Supreme called out to the two humans huddled behind the automobile. "Come out. Do not fear."

Omega was still weary from his travels and so he lowered his giant form into a sitting position, this was no small feat for such a large metallic being. The simple action would cause the streets to tremble and the partially destroyed buildings to crumble even further. Beyond the massive dust cloud that accompanied the rather awesome display, the action presented no further danger to the nearby humans.

This no doubt seemed rather peculiar to Superman and the others, they had not considered the notion that a robot could feel fatigue, and the way in which spoke suggested an ability to express himself in a human and humane manner. The suggestion was a subtle one, for Omega had lost much of his ability to fully express emotion millions of years ago.

The Dark Knight watch from the shadows, standing protectively near the red haired woman whose name was still a mystery. He watched as his friend flew out to meet the massive titan of metal that touched down in the demolished zone of Gotham. He watched Clark race towards the machine without hesitation. No fear, no second thought. He knew only that this thing was potentially dangerous and that he needed to protect the innocents nearby. Even now Bruce was still impressed by the man. At times Clark could be so unassuming, even naive that it was easy to forget what was within him. That undefinable quality that makes him the best of them. That willingness of his to address any threat, any situation head on without a moments hesitation all to protect others.

They were all heroes sure, every member of the Justice League. Each one willing to lay their lives on the line for the sake of others yet none were like him. None did it in the way he did. Diana was willing to sacrifice if it meant protecting Themyscira or an innocent life but she would not throw her life away for something she saw as trivial or allow her self to fall without honor. Wally too would make the sacrifice play but knowing him he'd be hard pressed to actually believe he wasn't coming back. Sometimes Bruce thought West believed himself fast enough to out run death. Hal was another one who, when duty called would lay his life down in the defense of others. Yet that was his catch, when duty called. If it was another Green Lantern in another sector as far as Hal was concerned it was out of his jurisdiction and out of his hands.

Bruce was another story all together. He would sacrifice, some could say he'd sacrificed more than most yet he knew what was in his heart. He knew what lengths he was willing to go to in order to achieve his goals and to save innocents. Yet no matter all Bruce was willing to do, how willing he was to sacrifice his own life for the lives of the those he fights for there was one big difference between Clark and himself. Deep down Clark was a good person and deep down, Bruce was not.

Batman rose from his crouching position as Superman spoke to the mechanical construct. The ground shook as the massive robot took a seat in the already ruined area he landed in. The machine called itself Omega Supreme. Stated it was the enemy of the Decepticons. The league had had only a hand full of encounters with these Decepticons since all this craziness started and they were certainly not here to make peace with humanity. If this enormous machine was an enemy of the Decepticons then Earth had just gained literally and figuratively a massive asset.

While Bruce calculated what this new development meant for the defenders of Earth Superman watched with curiosity as the machine settled itself in to its seat.

"I hope I'm not being rude but I don't often see a machine get tired. Are you... alive? Did you travel far to get here?"

Clark asked, the down home friendliness shining through in his words.

Jean had watched with wide eyes as the huge robot made its decent to the Earth. At it's warning, she had quickly ducked for cover along with the man in black. Eventually she'd learn their names… she hoped. She wasn't used to just calling people names that were simply descriptions of who they were. Unless that was a part of their 'superhero' name, as it were.

When the robot called down to them that it was safe to come out, she immediately stood and stepped around the car. In her head, she could feel the nearness of a massive, foreign mind. The flying man asked the robot if he was alive, and without thought, Jean answered.

"Yes.. You are alive," she said, her voice in awe. She'd never seen such a being before. She stepped forward, moving until she was near the robot's foot. The thing was massive. Could crush her with its finger, if it wanted. She wanted to touch its mind, to delve in and learn what sort of things it had seen, where it had come from- but she wouldn't.

The sky darkened with billowing grey storm clouds. The rumbling of thunder nearly shook the heavens as lightning crackled in the blackness of the night sky. Superman turned as his super hearing picked up a distinctive sound. The sound of a body flying through the air had a unique quality to it. Without the noise created by a plane or a chopper coupled with the absence of the sound of flapping wings Clark had picked up the sound and identified it quickly. He turned and landed beside Bruce and the telekinetic unsure of who was approaching.

"Company."

Superman warned as Bruce stepped up behind him.

"How many?"

Superman's eyesight was unparalleled and zeroed in on the tiny spec on the horizon with optimum clarity.

"It's a man. Big guy too. He looks... Well he's dressed like some of the people at the Renaissance Fair my old man took me to when I was a boy."

Batman turned to stare at Clark with a blank look. Superman turned and shrugged.

"What?"

Clark asked. Batman just turned his gaze back to the sky without a word as the two founding members of the Justice League witnessed the arrival of the God of Thunder. The figure lowered himself to the ground in a huff. The very air around him seemed alive with electrical energy. One look at the large man, thick with muscle and it was clear to Superman that he was no push over. Carrying that big hammer and wearing some kind of old world style armor he looked like a viking warrior ready for battle and had the attitude to match.

"What realm is this?"

The man asked, his annoyance evident in his tone. Superman took a step forward, putting himself between this stranger and the others in case he got violent.

"Realm? Do you mean planet? This is Earth, and your standing in Gotham City. I'm Superman and behind me is Batman. Mind telling us who you are friend?"

Superman asked, his own tone was polite enough yet stern. Clark could feel the power radiating off this guy and if he had a mind to use that hammer of his Superman would have to put him down quickly to avoid anyone getting hurt.

While Clark addressed the newcomer Batman activated his cowls detective mode to scan the man. The cowl bathed his world in that familiar bluish light as he surveyed the large blonde man before him. A unique energy signature indicative of magical properties surrounded him like an aura. Beyond that the latent electrical saturation of the surrounding air had sky rocketed. Then there was the hammer itself, it was practically pulsating power. That weapon and the man wielding it were incredibly dangerous, especially given Superman's vulnerability to magic. Bruce stood behind Superman, his eyes carefully studying the large man for the slightest signs of hostility. His body completely concealed by his black cape which was draped over his entire body, his hands rested on his utility belt for quick access.

Jean stepped back a little, quietly surveying the scene. Her gaze leapt from one man to the second, to the third, and occasionally up to the robot. Well, at least she had names for the two she'd been speaking with thus far. She watched with an air of amusement as the three men sized each other up. Batman looked like he was coiled up, ready to spring like a cat if the new 'hero' decided to move against them in any way. She sensed no strong sort of animosity from the new stranger, so she crossed her arms and listened quietly to the exchanges that were going on.

This… Superman and Batman seemed to know each other pretty well. They certainly trusted each other, that much was clear. And it was clear that Batman didn't trust Jean a bit, even though she had helped him in a few small ways. She didn't blame him. Jean had a fairly easy time of trusting people, but that was because of her abilities. She looked between Batman and Superman again, eyeing them curiously. Perhaps they would have more information on what was going on. Why villains ran rampant through the streets, why there were so many people… mutants and non mutants alike running around calling themselves superheroes.

Perhaps she finally found someone who could answer her questions. But for now, she was quiet. Just waiting.

As Omega Supreme sat and conversed with the flying man he noticed the increasing darkness which had begun to appear off in the distance, taking particualr interest in its seemingly sentient behavior, being nearly 100 feet tall gave you a particular advantage over those who could only examine their immediate surroundings from ground level. Omega was sure that the capped wonder who hovered at the level of his shielded faceplate had also noticed the oncoming darkness and the lighting which accompanied it.

After a mere few seconds of their first appearance, the angry clouds had settled directly over them, with the clouds came even stronger bursts of lightning, accompanied this time by roaring thunder. Suddenly, out of the billowing black clouds a man appeared riding a streak of lightning, the unmistakable smell of charred ions; of which only Omega Supreme could detach, filled the air as the striking plasmic discharge came in contact with the ground.

"Strange are the beings of this universe", Omega thought, not knowing at this point that these super-humans were all from vastly different realms, as the muscled blond man had phrased it. This was however not Omega Supreme's first thought, his first was how fortunate he was that the lightning was directed with intention to strike a specific spot, rather then some arrant lightning strike which would have surly struck him-a most massive hunk of metal.

As the blond fellow and the flying man conversed Omega decided that it was time to stand, once gain the ground and all free standing structures within several square blocks reverberated with Omega's effort to regain his posture.

Now standing on his immense feet, he spoke with his deep brooding voice.

"Observation: Never have I met such beings before....." And then after a brief pause.

"Amendment: Save, an all powerful entity who summons a great destructive bolt of energy by merely speaking a single mystical word......"

"Acknowledgment: Required."

Thor regarded the man in front of him taking his time to study the other man and decide if he could be a possible threat, even with just a cursory glance Thor could see a warrior when he saw one. Though his tone was calm and measured the way he stood, the way his eyes sized Thor up in return and the aura of power that seemed to radiate from him, all were clear signs of a man used to battle. Yet strangely Thor did not feel threatened by the man, not because the man would not provide a challenge as Thor doubted a man with such vitality and power would be an easy battle but more because he could not help but feel that the man was honourable like himself. His stance was protective, not aggressive and he had spoken in calm tones. Having decided he was not an immediate threat Thor glanced again at the two human companions who stood a little behind him.

Thor's eyes narrowed at the man dressed like a bat, though the costume should have looked foolish the sheer menace of the man wearing it made that impossible. Waves of deadly intent rolled off the man and Thor did not doubt that whether the man was human or not he would be a formidable foe, everything about him screamed dangerous and experienced and ancient warrior that Thor was he could not help but notice it. The woman with the flame red hair was different again and Thor took longer in his perusal of her. Her attractiveness was obvious and Thor allowed the attraction to show in his eyes, he was not interested in her romantically as his heart belonged to another yet it was as natural to acknowledge a beautiful woman as it was to breathe. Asgardian women knew their own worth and beauty and the men acknowledged this visually as he did now. But more than her obviously attractive appearance Thor could see was perceptive, he did not know how exactly but he could feel that there was more to her than he could see.

After examining the three of them and deciding at least for the moment that none were about to attack him, Thor turned his attention to the hulking metal man that crouched on the ground, its head still taller than the buildings around it. Never in his thousands of years had Thor encountered such a being and he had encountered many in his time, most that the mortals would not be able to comprehend. Yet next to this behemoth he felt small and gauche almost like a child in the presence of his father. Odin Allfather had that effect on him and yet he had never expected to feel that way from something else. He was deciding how to respond to the colourful man's questions when the metal mountain suddenly moved. Thor spun his hammer and rose into the air, not high but enough to avoid the inevitable ground shaking that came when something of that size moved. Once the being had stood and seemed satisfied to remain still he lowered himself to the ground once more. By this time the sky had cleared as Thor's mood had calmed somewhat seeing as he was in no immediate danger.

The robot spoke then voicing the thought that had been on Thor's mind, whilst he had met other extraordinary individuals none matched the metal man above him. He cleared his throat and addressed all those around him.

"I am Thor Odinson of Asgard and I can assure you that this is not Midgard or Earth as you call it, or at least it is not how the realm should be. Since returning from meeting with Odin Allfather in Asgard I have travelled this strange realm and it is not as it should be." He frowned and gestured around him. "This city you call Gotham should not exist, and others like it Metropolis? Star city? These also should not be here. This is Midgard and yet it is not."

He frowned again as a thought occurred to him, he remembered his father explaining to him how all the realms were bound by the world tree yet this was not one of the nine realms.
"In my thousands of years alive I have not come across something such as this before, whatever has happened to your realm must have been caused by a very powerful entity. I would like to meet this entity and know why they have done this, if you do not oppose me in this then you may count me as your ally."

Bruce listened carefully to the words spoken by this, Thor. The man either believed himself to be the Norse God of Thunder and was insane, or he really was Thor and was insanely powerful. Judging by the energy readings Bruce had already gathered he was inclined to believe the latter. Regardless of the validity of the man's lineage his description of the surroundings he now found himself in intrigued the Dark Knight. He told of how this Earth was not the Earth he knew. He went on to reference the oddness of the existence of Gotham and Metropolis. Batman's mind pieced together quickly what this meant and stepped forward.

"You're trapped in an parallel universe. This is an alternate Earth. Similar to the one you knew in many ways yet different in many others. In our Earth this city, along with the others you mentioned have been around a long time where as to you they seem as if they've sprung up over night. While at the same time we are noticing odd changes as well. The appearance of a newspaper company in New York no one has ever heard about called the Daily Bugle for example. It no doubt sounds familiar to you while to us it is completely foreign. We are in the same predicament you are Thor."

Batman said knowingly, his hands finally falling away from his belt. Superman smiled at the prospect of this new alley now that they knew he was on their side. Now it was the Man of Steel's turn to speak up. He looked the man in the eye and stepped up to greet him properly.

"Thor, I've only met a few God's in my time and it's an pleasure to meet another one. If you're as tough as you look we could certainly use another big gun when the fighting starts."

Clark said as he extended his hand out to shake the hand of the Odinson.

Jean felt the newcomer's eyes on her and her gaze popped back to him, a smile curving her lips. She was far from being full of herself. Scott and Logan were constantly fighting over her, and frankly it was exhausting. She tended to stay quiet until she was needed for one thing or another. She knew her powers were strong, but she rarely took advantage of them.

Suddenly, the robot was moving, standing up. Jean stumbled a little, looking up at the huge bulk of the robot with an indignant frown. He really ought to warn people before doing that. She had a thought to touch his mind and tell him so, but she refrained, bringing her eyes back to the men in front of her.

Her eyes widened when Thor finally announced his name. Of course, she had heard of him before, but only in legends. To see the man- no god- himself was awe-inspiring. The mutant woman waited for Superman to finish speaking, requesting Thor to aid them in whatever fight might come… with whomever it was had decided to mesh the earths of several universes together.

Finally, Jean stepped forward. When she spoke, her voice was calm and even, quiet, but not without confidence. "I am Jean Grey," she said, introducing herself to those gathered. "As… Batman," she said the name awkwardly, glancing at him for a moment before looking back to Superman and Thor. "-mentioned earlier, I am a mutant. I am telepathic and have telekinetic powers. I have touched none of your minds, as I typically wait for permission before doing such a thing to-- allies." She glanced between the three men, then up at the robot as well. "My powers are fairly strong, and I would like to do whatever I can to aid you all in whatever fight may come. If you will have me."

Omega Supreme had sensed that his new found comrades possessed much honor and fortitude, qualities such as courage, bravery and honor were the core of Autobot society.

These were the elements which the Autobots admired most in other beings as well.

Omega stayed in his current position, sensing that his frequent movements were a bit much for some of the others to deal with at times. His prestigious size often elicited immediate judgments as to his potentially dangerous nature, to the more acquainted however Omega Supreme was a big softy.

Omega spoke up and offered his services and support.

"Identification: Omega Supreme..... Loyalty and Dedication: Unwavering...... Trust and Dependability: Absolute."

Clark smiled, proud to call the Asgardian an ally and proud that he saw he and Batman the same way. Despite the considerable strength of the force group assembled here Thor was right about one thing. If Bruce's calculations were right, and they always were, they'd need more a lot more help if they were going to put an end to this invasion. Thor went so far as to mention that he might know of a few friends who could help. No doubt other heroes form his world Clark had a few friends in mind as well. It was then that Thor asked for help in finding a woman named Jane Foster.

"I'm sorry Thor, I've never heard of her but we can help you look for-"

Superman's words were cut off as a familiar voice began broadcasting into his ear.

"Watchtower to Superman."

Superman put a finger to his ear to communicate with his his martian friend.

"Go ahead J'onn."

"Diana sent out a distress signal. A large force of those mechanized extraterrestrials have touched down on Themyscira."

Superman nodded and turned to Bruce.

"Batman and I are en route... and we're bringing some back up."

Superman rose a few feet into the air, ready to rocket off into the sky and to Wonder Woman's aid but paused to address the others as Batman tapped a few commands on his gauntlet calling the Bat-Jet to his current location.

"We've got trouble. Decpticons have attacked the island of Themyscira, home of the Amazons and a friend of ours. We need to stop them. You all said you wanted to help, now's the chance."

Superman paused just a moment longer to turn to the son of Odin.

"And Thor... I promise once this is done I'll help you find Jane myself. You have my word."

With that Superman raced off into the sky and towards the island home of the Amazons with the Dark Knight close behind in his Bat-Jet.

"There are plenty of other mutants that will help us," Jean offered. She was about to speak up about the friend Thor asked about, when Superman cut off apparently speaking with someone through his earpiece. He spoke up quickly enough to share with them what was going on. Though, Jean had no idea what a "decpticon" was.

She frowned a little as she watched first Superman, then Batman take off in their own different fashions. Typical men, just fly off into a fight and leave the others behind. Because clearly, she and the other two would know exactly what he was talking about, right?

Jean let out a sigh, wondering how she was supposed to get to this island Superman had spoke of, when Thor spoke to her. "Ah, that would be very kind of you, actually," she answered with a smile. She stepped up to him, unsure and nervous about just flying through the air with another person. That was definitely something she had never done before.
