Flynn is a sarcastic, flirtatious, loud, ill tempered, quick thinking, rebellious, stubborn, and vain young man. He is a self described 'asshole', and he's ok with that. He is extremely flirtatious, and will flirt with any woman with a heartbeat. It doesn't matter if they're available or not. He is fairly vain, and extremely overconfident. He is pretty ill tempered, and has very little patience. He's very stubborn as well, always wanting to do things his way, and will rarely admit he's wrong, even when it's blandly obvious. He is also very sarcastic, and always has a smart-ass remark up his sleeve.
But most of this is just a cover, he is actually a genuinely kind, and caring guy, who just puts up this act to put up a wall between him and others. He is very quick thinking, and is able to think things through, and formulate actually decent plans on the fly. He frequently gets into fights with his mentor Wolverine, most of the time it doesn't get physical, most of the time. Professor Xavier has made jokes that this is because they're alike, and the world can't handle two Logan's, to their dismay. He also has a tendency to give nicknames.

Energy Absorption and Redirection- Flynn has the Mutant ability to absorb, and redirect any kind of energy, such as radiation, and electricity. He can use this energy as concessive energy blasts. He can redirect this energy to enhance his strength, durability, and even slightly regenerate. This ability is passive, and always active. In case he doesn't have any energy stored, he carries around packs of batteries which he crushes in his hands to absorb it's electric charge. He does have the capacity to absorb kinetic energy, and redirect it, but he hasn't learned how to do it.

Flynn does have a limited energy reserve. He can absorb too much power, and this can be extremely dangerous to himself, as unless he can expel that excise energy he could explode.

Flynn was born to a highly religious family in a small town in the bible belt of Tennessee(ironic considering how he acts). His father forced religion onto Flynn, he didn't have much of a choice in the matter. His father, and mother demanded a lot of him and his older brother Sam. Good grades, and all that stuff. They were extremely hard on them. But then when he was thirteen, it was discovered that Flynn was a Mutant when he ended up absorbing the electricity from a downed power line. This made things worst.
Flynn was branded as a monster, and a demon by his neighbors, and his family, well except for his older brother. For nearly two years he had to endure his own personal hell. His father barely recognized him as his son, and would even beat him on a daily basis. This all came to a head when he turned fifteen. Flynn had enough, he was driven to his braking point by his father. He fought back, and unleashed all of his energy into one energy blast, that turned his father into ash, much to the horror of his family.
Flynn was locked away by the local law enforcement, and was awaiting to be carted away by the MRD. But the X-Men got to him first. The sprung him out of prison, and gave him a second chance, as a X-Man. It was a difficult transition to life at the Xavier Mansion. He got into fights with other students, and even a few of the senior X-Men, Wolverine in particular. But Xavier kept him there, as he could sense something in him. But it was more that Flynn reminded him of an old friend of his, and didn't want him to take the same path as him.
When it came time to form squads, Xavier, in a surprising move named Flynn the leader of Beta Squad, and under the tutelage of Wolverine, his main sparing partner. Much to there dismay.
