Age(s): Jason, Ryan's Father is 40, his mother, Lauren, is 37.
Occupation(s): Mutant Regulation Officers. Jason and his wife Moira are chair holding members of the Mutant Regulation Offices as well as members of the Council of Mutant Affairs. They hold a negative/neutral stance on Mutants. If Hank McCoy (Codename: Beast) could be considered the "Gas" for pro-mutant rights, Jason and Moira could be considered the "Careful Brakes". Since their son was sent to Charles's School for Gifted Youngsters, they;ve taken a much more neutral stance in dealing with Mutants, however, their ultimate goal is simply the preservation of Homo Sapiens as a species. They are by no means avid mutant haters, however, they are cautious when it comes to mutants. Their argument is simply that life cannot be equal and fair if some men are born with the power to read minds or destroy buildings at will. They represent the careful and cautious nature of Humanity in its dealings with Homo Sapiens Superiors nothing more, nothing less.
Alliance: Government
Appearance(s): Jason and his wife look exactly as you'd expect government officials to look. They're a well dressed, middle-aged, and pleasant enough couple. They are passive carriers of the X-gene, showing no mutations themselves, but being ultimately responsible for Ryan's status as a mutant.
Jason appears just a bit older than he is, his salt and pepper hair giving him an air of wisdom. What hair isn't greying is very dark and compliments his deep brown eyes. He has sharp, though not angular, features that are easy to see in his son, Ryan. He is a taller man, just over six feet tall, and is in very good shape for his age, weighing roughly 220 lbs. He has large hands, worn from his hobbies of working out and tinkering in his garage. Before going to school for politics, Jason was going to school to be an engineer. He enjoys working with his hands, and often makes little contraptions that will hold a door open, or get the mail.
Lauren, on the other hand, appears young for her age, often causing joking comments about Jason's taste in women. She has blond hair and is the one who gave Ryan his bright green eyes. She is a very attractive woman, but dressed modestly so as to keep professional in her government job. She's a tall woman, just shorter than her husband, even without heels. When not working, she dresses mostly in fashion, like a stereotypical mom of the period.
Personality/(ies): Jason is very practical and level headed. He has a few odd quirks, but behaves generally how you'd expect him to. He's stoic, soft-spoken, smart, just a little funny, and very clever. He enjoys cooking, he had to mostly out of necessity, but now finds it soothing. Heaven help us should Ryan's mother ever get herself anywhere near the kitchen. As stated before he likes to tinker in the garage as well as solve puzzles, as at heart he's a total egghead.
Lauren is quite the opposite. Though she keeps herself professional and calm at work, the second she leaves she's a very passionate woman. She loves to talk about anything that sparks her fancy and thoroughly enjoys a great many things. Despite her apparent air-headed appearance, Lauren has a keen wit and a sharp eye. Not much gets past her, and nothing goes without some form of criticism. She thoroughly enjoys painting, and is probably where Ryan got his artistic tendencies from. She has a studio right outside of Ryan's old room and uses it quite frequently.
History: Jason and Lauren met in college and fell in love as soon as they laid eyes on each other. They lived in very different worlds beforehand, Jason having lived in a more suburban town while Lauren was born and raised in a bustling city. They were married shortly after gaining their masters degrees and moved into Lauren's place close to D.C. They were good and settled into their jobs and new life when Ryan was born. He was perfect. He was a beautiful baby boy with his father's nose and and his mother's eyes and dimpled smile. As Ryan grew, they began moving much more viciously to legalize Mutant registration acts and create a "safer" world for their son. Much to their own surprise, Ryan was diagnosed a mutant at his sixth birthday. After pushing so hard for the anti-mutant legislature, having a mutant son destroyed their entire outlook. They moved to repeal their heinous laws, but couldn't overlook the fact that their son was a mutant. He was immediately sent to Doctor Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. The move destroyed his parents. Though they were needed as a brake for Hank McCoy's aggressive Pro-Mutant legislature, they were internally torn on opposing him. How could they? Why weren't they pushing for a world in which their son could enjoy every liberty they possessed. Unfortunately, they still believe, and will continue to believe, in their policies. As much as they loved their son, they needed to create a world in which humans could stand equally with Mutants.
As time passed, they began to pester their colleague, Secretary McCoy, into visiting the School for them. Getting him to nonchalantly take pictures with Ryan so they could see how he was doing. They created a massive scrapbook of pictures of Ryan, complete with all of his achievements and big birthdays. Though they felt they couldn't rightly look their son in the eye after what they'd done to him, they felt a semblance of closeness with him. Though they weren't really there with him, they could still see how he was doing. Finally, after Hank refused to visit after the Juggernaut event, during which they saw him carrying a girl on his back through the city, unable to be caught by the police who came to round up whatever mutants were left after the scuffle, they knew they needed to act. Under the guise of speaking with Professor Xavier about the public's reaction to his actions, they decided to visit the school to see Ryan.
Other information: Jason and Lauren live in an upscale studio apartment in Washington D.C. Though they had planned to move out when RYan got older, so he could have a real room and a backyard to play in. As it is, they've decided to stay, their job demands a decent proximity to the Capital and it is slowly taking over their lives. They hope to, eventually, move out and retire to a house of their own somewhere in the midwest, away from all the turmoil in D.C.
