During the crimes of the Third World War, chemical weapons reached an exponential level. The most common threat, psychological warfare. Gasses would be released country-wide and it would infect people's homes, giving them symptoms of paranoia, hallucinations, physical abnormalities, and much more. The worst side effect was that these diseases that were being transmitted were impetuous. They could be passed down the family line. Soon, the entire new generation of children were going to be infected with unimaginable kinds of malformations. But, in the year 2041, a scientist by the name of Howard J. Kline invented a remedy. It couldn't cure the adults, but it could stop the symptoms from being passed down into children.

Unfortunately, what Dr. Kline could not predict was where all of the poison would go. That is, until the First Cured-Birth. The whole world watched as two beautiful children were born safely, with no visible abnormalities between them. As the children got older, they were passed on and deemed successful, and the genetic mutations were made available to the public. It seemed, however, that the remedy enhanced the potential of twins. There had not been a single Cured-Birth where only one child was born. And, as each set of twins grew, it was clear that their personality traits were very different. While one child helped an elderly woman with her groceries, the other tore holes in all of her bags. Similar scenarios were being seen throughout the country. One twin expressed kind, peaceful, traits, while the other expressed more sinister ones. The world was quickly becoming more chaotic, and a solution needed to be proposed immediately.

ImageImage

The President of the United States needed an answer for his people. He proposed two camps for these new children. One camp for the good twins, and one camps for the bad ones. They would be separated at birth, based on genetic studies that narrowed down exactly which twin would express generous traits, and which would express selfish ones. The hope was that they could study and develop the new children until they could figure out how to alter the Cured-Births and get rid of the poison all together. But, once a twin reached maturity, developments in their psyche halted. There was no more room for alterations. This made studying them further pointless. Twins from either camp were assessed for rehabilitation into society. Those who seemed as though they would accomplish more good then harm were sent back to live normal lives. Those who were deemed incurable were either drafted into the army or sent to work menial labor jobs. It was just supposed to be a temporary solution, while they figured out something more permanent. However, people grew comfortable with the solution, and many were afraid of altering the system. With other wars to be fought, the Cured-Births were put on the backburner, to be dealt with at a later time.

The situation in the United States caused different kinds of reaction throughout the world. Some thought the country's children got what they deserved, as payment for their ancestors' sins. Some thought it wrong to segregate the children in the first place, since humans were born all different anyway. Certain lands, like Australia and France, launched rescue missions in an attempt to steal the twins and raise them in their own country, free from prejudice. This was met with hard steel and a miraculous military attempt, which ended with many casualties on both sides. The rest of the world took this as a sign that they should not involve themselves in US affairs. If the country burned, it was one less enemy for them. But, there were many factions within other countries that still despised what the Americans were trying to do, and they needed a strategy to stop them.

So, the Amber Rebellion began, silently. There were many divisions hidden throughout the US, with many supporters and funds from throughout the world. They planned to insert themselves into the camps, whether as workers or children themselves, and break it down from the inside. Many recruits were new parents who had born Cured children, and had no choice but to send them to the camps. They became factory cooks, or teachers, or counselors for the evil twins. The Amber Rebellion moved slowly, with the goal being to get as many mature twins out and free as possible, without alerting those doing the Sorting. If they could get enough, they could show the rest of the world that there were no good or evil twins, there were only humans who had been surrounded by a paranoid country. Like with any rebellion, the end was far from sight, and there were many ideas on ways to better the movement. Many groups failed to extricate any mature twins, and got themselves executed for treason in the process.

In the end, it was too risky for adults to infiltrate the camp without suspicion, since almost every camp employee was replaced with a government official to ensure top security. The only way to change things was through the twins themselves.

Image
Image
Image

Obviously, science had many flaws. One of those flaws happened to be the genetic analysis equipment that assessed the Cured twins at birth, to determine what traits they would possess. Unfortunately, many good twins were mistakenly sent to evil camps, and many evil twins were mistakenly sent to good camps. If discovered, these twins were deemed contaminated species and executed. They had to pretend to belong to whatever camp they had been put into, or it would all be over. Many wondered what their twin on the other side was like. Were they truly the exact opposite of each other, forced to live in each other's Hell forever? Was there more to what they had always been told? There had to be more than Good and Evil in the world, right?

There was only one way to find out. The twins needed to remain undetected until the Sorting, so they could finally be free of the camps.

Again, the Amber Rebellion had hope. If they could get the twins to make it through the Sorting, then they could join the Rebellion as living proof that the rest of the world had to see. There was more to them than some genetic disease. Leaders of the Mistakes were chosen, with one single mission: stay unseen.

- There is an AGE RESTRICTION on players allowed to join this roleplay. Please, no one under the age of 16 apply for a character as it will be a matter of you being honest. There will be mature content here and I also want a certain level of maturity for the quality of writing. I don't mean that to sound rude or exclusive, but that's just how it's going to be.

- I'm only asking for three writers for this roleplay, two characters each. The reason for this is that I want this RP to go very far. In my experience, the fewer writers we have, the less complications there are. However, I like to think of myself as a decent human being. If you love this RP, are committed to a long uphill climb, and you see that all the slots are filled, let me know! I'm sure we can work out a solution.

- Obviously, no god-modding, no Mary-Sues or Gary-Stus, PM someone before killing their character (do NOT harm or kill someone's character without the admin's consent), keep within roleplaygateway's guidelines and we should be okay!

- You are allowed to reserve a character spot, but I'll only hold it for about a week or so before I'll open it back up. Honestly, I just want most of the character profile to be done and comprehensible before approving the character. Also, with the three writer limit, I'm asking that everyone doubles up on characters. If you are like myself, and you get overwhelmed with multiple characters, then post this in the OOC. I will recruit a writer to take your other character slot.

- No OOC drama, clearly. We are all grown ups (or we better be....!) so we sort through our problems with our words and make sure we are understanding of each other. If you've got a problem, tell me privately, I'll try to deal with it and serve as a medium.

- Please post in the OOC forum if you're interested in joining. I think most people do this anyway, but I thought I'd say in case someone thinks not to do it. When you do, please post your character's faceclaim, age, gender-identification, and whether you will be playing them as a Mistake or as a normal twin. Both are fun and can have loads of storylines, so don't feel as though Mistakes are the only ones with conflicts. Please have faceclaims be 300x300, and tell me you're favorite movie. That's the password (wink).

Image
- Your character must be between the ages of 15-18. Be wary, though, characters of age 18 will be very close to their Sorting. Please have a plan in place of how they will approach the Sorting and what the outcome may be for that character.

- Your character must have a real-life faceclaim, and ONLY a real-life faceclaim. No anime or cartoon faceclaims, sorry.

- Please keep your profile neat, easy to read (no very small or light text color), and don't deviate too far away from my original character sheet. Now, I don't mean keep all of the artistic things the same, like style of writing or image quality. I mean, please address all of the details that I've put forth.

- I would like there to be a balanced ratio of female to male characters, if we can help it. If we can't, it's no big deal, I'd just prefer it to be about even. Also, don't be shy about diversifying our cast of characters by their identities. Let's not have carbon copy characters one right after another!

- Have an image available of your faceclaim for me to be able to edit it and post on the front page of the roleplay thread. Please have the image be 300x300.

- Characters will not go on a 'first come, first serve' basis, but on a basis of whose character will work best for the story, which ones are most original and interesting, etc. Please, don't let this create a competitive air, as if you REALLY want to join, just hit me up and we'll see what we can do.

- Talk to me FIRST if you plan on making a child character/Little Sister character. I originally wasn't going to allow anyone to write as Little Sisters or Big Daddies, BUT I thought that wouldn't be as fun. You MUST message me first about either one (writing a character that will become a Little Sis or Big D), because I'm gonna be really critical about it.

- You may write your character knowing/being friends/enemies/whatever with NPCs, but please run it by me first. Just send a message or post OOC telling me what you plan on their relationship being to the NPC. Again, I say: no Mary-Sues or Gary-Stus. Keep it believable. Keep it real. ✌

Image
- Please use 'Times New Roman' font when writing your In Character posts in the thread. I hate to sound like a stickler, but I would just like things to look nice and orderly. What can I say? I'm a little OCD about it.

- When writing In Character posts, please write no less than two paragraphs and no more than six. I want things to go smoothly, so both of those limitations are mainly so things can carry on if things get slow or that things can be easy to catch up on if someone gets busy or left behind.

- For the love of god, PLEASE use good grammar. I understand some mistakes now and then, but it's a personal pet peeve of mine to see tons of misspelled words, words being misused, text talk IC.

- I would like a reply from everyone weekly in order to keep everything active and going smoothly! Also, let me know if you're going to MIA for a while. I really don't want this roleplay to die out, so keep on top of staying in touch with me and the others. I'm friendly, I'm understanding, so don't be shy.

The world ended the day the families never went home. At least, they didn't go home the same.

The camps were created as a means for calming a terrified people. Many saw that a containment of the Cured was the only way to get the nation back to where it had started. They admired the iron gates and stone buildings. They admired the illusion of security that the camps provided. It never occurred to them what was built inside. Blood had not yet stained the walls but the sterile smell did nothing to avert thoughts about what become of it. Large screens hung in basements meant to brain-wash and pray the hate away. Or even pray the love away. There were certain emotions people could and could not express. The people wanted normal. The people wanted uniform.

So began, Re-Education.

It started small, with what the establishment called "Productive Labor." How could the Cured begin to fit into society when they were under the impression that they were above those who had worked before them? In order to correct their superiority complexes and their work ethics, they were put to work building, mining, and assembling all sorts of structures and projects. It was hot work, and many passed out from dehydration or exhaustion. But, if a Cured could not handle it, that only meant he had to work harder. These were dire times, and many died from it.

Once the excitement died down, new standards were put in place for what a Cured should be. After all, these creations were meant to be the epitome of perfect. Everything needed to be regular. They added "Suggestive Psychology" to the regime. In order to trim and crop the Cured into carbon-copies, they needed to associate their "negative traits" with things that disgusted or terrified them. This was a time of fear, and any difference from the norm was seen as a sign for a stay in Re-Education. These differences included, but were not limited to, angry outbursts, homosexuality, skipping class, authority issues, and broken laws. In order to cure the Cured, they showed them pictures to represent their negativity, followed by an electric shock or a vomit-inducer. Many victims to this level of re-education came out stoic and highly dedicated to the cause. Some never made it out. There were held for as little as a day or as long as several weeks, but the results were still the same.

Re-Education became a topic of fear within the camps. It was never mentioned out loud, or even whispered, to anyone. It was a threat used by officials to herd the Cured into obedient lines. The equivalent of Voldemort, basically.

It was a world that only those inside the iron gates knew of. Almost. A Cured was able to get a message to the barest of hints of the Amber Rebellion. Only a handful of people at the time, it created outrage among the group. They used the information to recruit more naysayers all over the country, spreading out into almost ten chapters. It was then that they realized only those on the inside could truly destroy the Camps. The Chief Strategists of every division met and devised a plan. They appointed Aimee and Ethan Cerf to be administrators of the Inside. Aimee and Ethan had experience with the rebellion, and knew the systems. This allowed them to stay in contact with each other, as well, uniting the two camps. Aimee appointed Alexandra as her Second. This allowed him to communicate and recruit others in Camp Good, and strategize with his counterpart in Camp Evil. Ethan appointed Vidas Wagnar as his Second. Soon, Kenji joined the Inside, as well as a few others from both camps. The hard work was done by the Premiers, as the five Cured were affectionately known. Intercepting messages and passing communications between camps were crimes that could get them Re-Educated, at best, and Executed, at worst. It was a fate that none of them could assign to anyone else. They all needed to stay secret, and they all needed to stay loyal.

Whether they all abide by those standards is another story that's yet to be told.

She awoke with a start, her heart pounding in her chest. Her forehead was slicked with sweat, and her hair a tangled mess. If someone were to be looking, her eyes might have glowed in the dark. But, her room was quiet and there wasn't a shadow of another person. The thing about being in the "Good Camp," was that they trusted you. "They" being the pompous assholes that came up with this whole thing. But, if it meant she didn't need to deal with roommates, then it was worth it. It made her job that much easier.

Rolling out of her bed, Aimée wiggled her toes in the fuzzy, white carpet. Light was just starting to rise from the mountains beyond, and she yawned loudly out the window. Opening her door slightly, her foot rolled over a crumbled piece of paper on the floor. Unfolding it, she read:

All is well in Hell

Aimée smiled gleefully. Ethan was safe. She hadn't heard from him in a couple weeks, since his last bout in Re-Education. She feared it would finally be the session that broke him, but she should have known better. Nobody could break her twin.

She looked around again, trying to see if there were any other notes left for her. Nothing. Nothing from the Rebellion. It had also been a while since she'd heard from them; her so-called employers. She often scoffed that they were just using her and her team for the grunt work while they sat in comfy chairs and debated about percentages. Not that it would have mattered, anyway. The Rebellion was the only glimpse of hope she'd had since coming to this stupid camp. If it meant devising her own plans and projects to take the system down, then so be it.

Aimée got dressed quickly, the starch uniform itching her skin. Nude was not her color. Just a little longer, then you'll be free, she thought, thinking of her Sorting that rested a year in the future. It seemed far away last week, but this week it seemed much closer. She couldn't decide whether she was happy about it or not.

Sighing, she left her room and made her way down the hall, stopping in front of Alexandra's room. She had no idea whether she was in there or not, but she pulled a piece of paper from her pocket anyway. Swiping a piece of charcoal from the message center at the end of the hall, she scribbled on the note before stuffing it underneath Alexandra's door.

Yellow in the Caf

Yellow for medium-priority, and location. It was a code that she'd tried to get the group to use, but many thought it was too complicated. Hopefully Alex would get the message, and not give her too much grief for it. Sighing again, she left the dorm and began walking in the gloomy morning towards the hot coffee waiting for her.

He rolled out of bed, quite gracefully, in fact. His bruised hand hit the table and he winced, but it was definitely one of the more successful attempts. Ethan yawned into the mirror. He needed to be awake for kitchen duty within the next ten minutes, and the lack of sleep wasn't helping his case. He had a lot more supervision since the last time he'd been caught passing notes, and the constant nightmares from torture weren't exactly conducive to relaxation. But, it was his fault for getting caught in the first place. He'd been stupid, and was too eager to get a message to the outside that he'd forgotten about the extra security round on Fridays. An amateur mistake, and Aimée had given him hell for it. That is, after she made sure he was alright. She didn't need to deal with Re-Education as much, and he tried to shelter her from it, but she was inherently sinister and knew her way around a lie. He still couldn't figure out how the Society had mistaken her for Good, but these were small blessings, after all.

Tugging on his uniform, he winced as bad memories made his stomach roll. Every time he put on the rough fabric, it gave him flashbacks of everything he had to endure in his time at the Fort. But, if it meant that one day this whole system would come crashing to the ground, he'd do it again. His biggest fear was that by the time his Sorting came around, their work still wouldn't be done. There had been others before him, either successful members of the Rebellion, or executed. He wanted neither. He wanted his Sorting to be the last the Society would have. He wanted there to be peace and equality in the world. He wanted a fucking unicorn.

Shaking his head ruefully, he pulled open his door and came face-to-face with Lou, his current security detail. No, not because he was important. At least not in the sense to be celebrated. Lou was there to make sure he didn't break any more "laws."

"Hey, Lou, how's your Monday? Productive, I bet?" Ethan smiled cheekily and Lou glowered. Without saying a word, the burly tugged his arm and pulled him into the hall. "Aw, not even a sardonic smirk? C'mon, Lou, you gotta give me something," he baited him. But, apparently, Lou was not to be messed with this morning, since he only shoved Ethan forward and made him keep walking.

Making a show of stumbling, Ethan kicked his foot against the door to his left. Kenji's. There was no way to communicate safely within these halls, so he needed something to get his Second's attention. There were plans to be made. Hopefully someone could get to Vidas, but if either of them were caught in the Female Dormitory, it would mean Re-Education for the rest of their lives, or execution. Yeah, people got killed for walking into the wrong building all the time. Casual.

"To the kitchen, recruit," Lou barked. Ethan chuckled, folding his hands behind his back and swaggering down the rest of the hall, whistling the whole time. He had a part to play, after all.

Bored... Bored... Bored...

Everything was always so boring in Camp 'Good'. No one was doing anything fun and if she tried to deviate a little, everyone would be on her like a hawk. Alexandra couldn't risk being labeled as 'hopeless' and perhaps end up in re-education again or killed off. She was still young, her coming of age day far in advance. But laying low was hard and she was starting to get more and more stir crazy. She even locked away the little lighter she'd managed to steal from one of the guards who enjoyed smoking far too much for his own good. That was technically a good act, right? She stopped him from smoking for a little while. She chuckled at her own rationalization and rolled over on the bed, her blond hair falling around her face as she stared down at the magazine of pretty dresses and hand bags.

She lifted a page but instead of turning it, she ripped it. Slowly. Listening as the page tore with a satisfying shreeek. It was a form of release for her since she couldn't do anything else she wanted to do. She set the page aside and started on the next page, drawing it out once more and enjoyed the sound. She wanted to set the paper on fire and watch it curl as the image distorted slowly, the hypnotizing flame devouring it until it was nothing but ash, the scent of the burn heavy in the air. Her fingers twitched at the thought but she kept her body on the bed. She had more control than that.

Alex was pulled from her revere when she heard something at her door. Her forest green gaze lifted to the paper on the floor and sighed to herself before she closed the magazine and pulled herself up from her bed. She set the magazine orderly on her table and crumbled the two wayward pages before tossing them into the garbage. She picked up the paper at her door then and read the script. She was familiar with the handwriting and easily discerned the sender and the code. A grin twitched at the corner of her lips. This had to be good, or rather, deliciously deviant. It was coded yellow after all. And Aimée always had something fun to share with her, some task to get her mind off things here. She wondered what it was this time.

She rushed to do her hair in a messy bun and put on her plain clothing and checked herself in the mirror. She may be excited to get down to business, but she still had to look good. Whatever this was about, she still lived in this camp and she had appearances to keep. Satisfied with her look, she tore up the paper message till it was unrecognizable and mixed it with the shredded magazine so in case anyone checked the trash, the paper wouldn't be conspicuous. Alex hurried to the cafeteria then and scanned the crowd until her eyes settled on Aimée.

Alex walked over to the food line and grabbed a couple of fruits and made a show of looking for a place to sit before she settled down beside Aimée as if it had been a mere coincidence. She didn't want anyone to be suspicious of her interactions with Aimée after all. "Hey," she greeted. "What's cooking?"

Kenji was indeed, in the bedroom. He'd gone out earlier that morning to just run as was his usual haunt for the morning. It was a good routine that helped him organize his thoughts and reflect on what was happening around him, among other things. And it was simply calming. Most people were asleep in the early waking morning so he generally was left alone which suited him just fine. That morning in particular he had just needed his own space. The walls were suffocating and the beating he had to give last night was weighing on his mind.

The younger recruit had been so adamant about a fight. Kenji wondered if he had been dared to come up to him. The kid kept getting in his way as he tried to go about his day. He had snapped when the other resident grabbed his arm in an attempt to twist him around. Kenji had had enough at that point and punched him square in the face, making the younger stumble and hit the ground. He'd assumed the fight was over and tried to continue to get away but the guy just hadn't taken the hint and came after him until he got the fight he wanted. He'd left the kid on the ground for his buddies to collect. Kenji was glad none of the guards had been around. It wouldn't have mattered that Kenji hadn't started it. They would have both been punished. Kenji sighed at the thought and shook his head. He wondered if the other 'evil twins' here really like all this fighting and beating or if they were putting up a farce too.

Kenji was just changing into clean clothes after his shower when he heard the thumb at his door. He would have thought nothing of it until he heard the voice outside telling someone to get to the kitchens. He tilted his head to the side and finished pulling on his clothes and opened the door to peak out. Ethan. It would be easy to assume Ethan had tapped his door on accident, but he knew better. Nothing Ethan did was ever on accident. He wondered what was on Ethan's mind this morning and if he'd heard word from the other agents in the rebellion.

Kenji slipped out of his room and headed for the cafeteria then and leaned against the door, watching the guards as they roamed through the lines of people trying to get good spots for when the kitchen opened for business. Other groups were already sitting at tables chatting with their friends. As soon as the guards turned away thanks to a disagreement that was getting louder on the other side of the room, Kenji slipped into the back of the kitchen and easily spotted Ethan. He gave him a nod in acknowledgement. He was pressed against one of the cupboards out of the way and close to the door but out of view of the other workers in the kitchen and any guard that happened to pass by.

Aimée sipped her coffee peacefully, scanning the cafeteria. It was easy for the guards to slip up in the morning, before they'd gotten the chance to get their footing and start harassing people. Sometimes they'd say something a little too loud, or be clumsy with a door and forget to cover the keycode box. It was those moments that fueled Aimée in the mornings and had her getting out of bed earlier than she needed to. All she needed was one chance, one break, and she could wreck the entire Society. So, she watched, and she waited.

It was due to this attentiveness that she saw Alexandra slip in and circle the room, finding her instantly but giving it a minute to make it look random. Aimée had to admire her style. Alexandra had a certain...grace about doing things she wasn't supposed to be doing. It was the reason Aimée had chosen her as her Second, and the reason she knew her plan was going to work.

"What's cooking?" Alex said as she took a seat near Aimée. Aimée smiled at her briefly, before continuing her surveillance of the area.

Her eyes narrowed as she saw one guard slip another a piece of paper. A meaningful glance. Even Camp Good wasn't a stranger to gambling and other vices, but they were usually smarter than placing bets in the middle of the cafeteria. Guard One walks to his rotational position on the East side of the room, while Guard Two continues to the West. Trip. Look left, right. Keep walking. Something was different. It was 07:30, and there were definitely supposed to be more officers in the room than there were. There should not be two guards at different cardinal locations, there should be five or six scattered throughout the room. Which meant that the others were needed somewhere. But for what?

"Something's different. Nothing changes around here, ever. We're the nice little elves that do what we're told. So what's happening now?" Aimée wondered aloud. Sipping her coffee slowly, she looks to Alex, her eyes glinting. She'd had plans to share this morning, but those could wait. Her curiosity was getting the better of her. If there was even a small chance that something was going to happen on her turf for a change, she wanted to be there for it.

"Up for an adventure?" Aimée smirks.

Ethan whistled his way to the kitchen, with Lou only jabbing him in the back once or twice to speed up. But, he was good at playing his part. He knew when to stumble, when to curse, when to smile, and when to glare. It was second nature to him now. Lou could only dream of catching his mistake and wiping him away like the rest of the Mistakes before him. His blood started to boil as he thought of the people who had suffered in the past, simply for being born different. Contaminated species? Try population control. All Ethan had to do was prove it.

He began to peel carrots for today's lunch when he saw Kenji slip in out of the corner of his eye, and he felt his heart sink in his chest a little. Speaking of people who had suffered, he was about to inform his only remaining teammate that their crew had just gotten a little smaller. They were going to have to try hard to make up for it now, since they couldn't exactly recruit. Their team was forged through blood and sweat, and that wasn't something you could just repeat whenever you lost someone.

Ethan continued to peel, but he moved closer to Kenji's corner, taking care to look as nonchalant as possible. "Vidas was sent to Re-Education last night, and I don't think she'll be released any time soon." He wanted to elaborate, but there was no way to do it in here, with Lou watching his every move. Even now, he saw the guard's gaze flick to him while he whispered to what appeared to the other man as the wall. Ethan hunched his shoulders and rinsed his hands, making a show of splashing water on his face and having to turn slightly to reach the paper towels, giving him the perfect view of Kenji hiding. "We'll have to step up to cover for her, but we can do it. We have to do it. We're so close," he stopped and turned back to the carrots as he felt his blood start to boil again. The Society couldn't get away with doing this to so many. It couldn't keep going unnoticed any longer.

"Aimée and I have a plan, and I think--no, I know that it'll work. But, we have to work together. Up for it?" Ethan asks Kenji quietly. They were approaching the expiration date for this conversation, but Ethan needed his confirmation in order to start passing the notes that would need to happen. It was going to be a busy for awhile, but if it meant the end to this, he was prepared for a lot of risky nights. He only hoped that his team would be, too.

"Something's different. Nothing changes around here, ever. We're the nice little elves that do what we're told. So what's happening now?"Aimée remarked then.

Something was different? Alex gave a yawn, making herself stretch back in her chair as she began to look around the cafeteria room. Same old goody crowd at the tables they tended to migrate to. The chatter she could catch was meaningless, talking about the 'amazing' gruel they were eating and what special privileges so-so would receive for doing so-so good deed. It seemed like the same boring scenario to Alex. There was Bethany and her flock of wanna-bees. They tried to live up to the rules but they always fell short. They were coming up to judgement day. He wondered if they would really pass the test. Only thing to do was wait and find out. Alex did her best to seem like a good kid to. Maybe they were just trying too hard and they were in the same boat? Alex scoffed to herself and brought her attention back tot he situation at hand.

She didn't see anything too out of the ordinary. What was Aimée talking about? Her eyes drifted up to he people handing out food but they were the usual crowd too. There was guard 1 doing his rounds. The other one shouldn't be too far behind... but where was guard 2? She frowned lightly and her eyes re-scanned the crowd then. She did spot the second guard but there were only two. What happened to the others? They tended to cross paths frequently around here, even if they were in the obedient camp. Had something happened in the bad camp then? Something had to be going on. That was usually the reason why guards were taken away from the good camp.

"Is it the guards? The reason you called me? What's the scoop?" Alex whispered. Before she could get her answer, Aimée mentioned going on an adventure. Alex's smile turned into a smirk, an almost malicious glint in her eyes sparkling. "When am I ever not in the mood for adventure? What's on the agenda, Boss-Lady?" she asked then. She sat up straighter in her chair and started to twist one of the rings on her finger in excitement. "Is it something I can do right now? Is it about the guards?" Alex cleared her throat and looked away, trying to quell some of the enthusiasm though she doubted the two guards would notice her among other inmates.

Kenji was prepared for news about another meeting. Another plan to expose this place for it was. He was even expecting some message from higher up in their little organization. He had been prepared for any other news possible except for the one Ethan gave him. Vidas in reeducation. Wasn't coming back out. Gone. Vidas was gone. The news hit him like a blow to the gut. He couldn't say he'd been overly close to her. He wasn't overly close to anyone really besides Ethan, but Vidas and the others were still a sort of family in a place where you had no one. They were brothers and sisters in arms and they had each others backs, even if they didn't always agree on everything, but that was what family was. You had disagreements but you were always there. And now Vidas was lost to them. He had so many questions he wanted to ask. What had happened? How had she gotten herself into reeducation? Why couldn't he or Ethan save her? Why couldn't they try? Did they really have to accept that she was gone?

It was just him and Ethan now.

In an emotional moment, Kenji wanted nothing more than to hug Ethan to provide emotional support and receive it, but he refrained from moving. He did not want either of them to be taken away. He wasn't sure he'd be able to keep it together if he lost Ethan too. They only had each other and even if that emotional connection wasn't there, they were the last bit of resistance in this camp. Without Ethan, there would be no way to stay in contact with Aimée. Aimée and Ethan were the only siblings he knew of to be able to keep a string of communication. Fuck this was a mess. Why couldn't these administrators and government officials realize that they were all still people? They weren't animals. It was these guards that needed to be confined in this cage. They were just as bad if not worse than the individuals here.

Kenji's hands tightened into fists as the anger threatened to overtake him a moment. He closed his eyes and let out a deep breath through his teeth. Later. He had to deal with the turmoil later. Right now he needed to think. Ethan had a plan, a shot at change and Ethan needed him. He couldn't let him down. He wouldn't. Not now, not ever. Till the end, as they usually mused.

"Of course. Anything. What do you need me to do?" he asked.
