Personality: Her primary mode of living is focused internally, where she deals with things rationally and logically. Her secondary mode is external, where she take things in via her five senses in a literal, concrete fashion. She has a compelling drive to understand the way things work. Good at logical analysis, she likes to use it on practical concerns. Typically having strong powers of reasoning, although she's not interested in theories or concepts unless she can see a practical application. She likes to take things apart and see the way they work.

Zoe is fiercely independent, needing to have the space to make her own decisions about her next step. She does not believe in or follow rules and regulations, as this would prohibit her ability to "do her own thing". Her sense of adventure and desire for constant action makes her prone to becoming bored rather quickly. Although she does not respect the rules of the "System", she follows her own rules and guidelines for behavior faithfully. She will not take part in something which violates her personal laws.

She likes and needs to spend time alone, because this is when she can sort things out in their minds most clearly. She absorbs large quantities of impersonal facts from the external world, and sort through those facts, making judgments, when she is alone. Zoe is an action-oriented person. She likes to be up and about, doing thing, which means she won't sit behind a desk all day and do long-range planning. Adaptable and spontaneous, she responds to what is immediately before her. She usually has strong technical skills, and can be as effective technical leaders.

She does not pay attention to her own feelings, and even distrust them and try to ignore them, because she has difficulty distinguishing between emotional reactions and value judgments. This may be a problem area for her.

When over-stressed, she may exhibit rash emotional outbursts of anger, or on the other extreme may be overwhelmed by emotions and feelings which she feels compelled to share with people (often inappropriately). When down on herself she will foray into the world of value judgments - a place which is not natural for the her - and judge herself by the inability to perform some task. Zooey will then approach the task in a grim emotional state, expecting the worst.

Appearance
Eʏᴇ Cᴏʟᴏʀ
Her eyes are a deep brown color, almost having a chocolate-appearance. Though they can sometimes appear black if you're not looking carefully, or if she is in the shadows or darker areas. The only thing she happens to like about her eyes is the golden specks that move throughout them, making them appear nicer, according to her.

Hᴀɪʀ
Her hair is black, but is easily mistaken for dark brown because of the light shade it happens to be. Usually it is left down, as it falls just beneath her shoulders, and straight. Though occasionally you may catch her with her hair braided or even thrown up in a bun if she was in a hurry, but she won't take the time to curl it or anything silly like that.

Sᴋɪɴ Tᴏɴᴇ
Zoe happens to be extremely pale. . Since she very rarely goes into the sun, or at least when she does she does it quickly, her body lacks the color that most people have. It doesn't help that she tends to wear a lot of darker clothing too, but in no way is she "goth" or "emo". That would be cliche, for her at least. People used to tease her for being "white as a ghost", though she never minded it. The reason she has always been so pale is because she doesn't really like to go out in the sun, she much more prefers the night.

Bᴏᴅʏ Tʏᴘᴇ
She fits almost perfectly into the "petite" category, being just above five foot[ five foot one inch to be exact, though the world naturally rounds down ] and only a hundred and two pounds. She doesn't necessarily appear strong, at all, she's thin boned and you can even see her ribs when her shirt is removed. Her legs are longer than her torso, and she has very little curve to her.

Mᴀʀᴋɪɴɢs
She has many scars, but only a few will she actually admit the origins too. The thin, pink line drawing across her collar bone is from her father. A small line going through her left eyebrow was caused by a silly accident involving a knife. Three claw-like scratches on her right shoulder, from when she was attacked by a dog when she was younger.

Her tattoos are few in number, though most are quite elaborate or meaningful for her.

Darrin hadn't been able to say anything to Zooey when she'd joked about them kicking her out. Zeke had entered the room at that time and was now sitting with the woman. "Daddy! Zoe kissed my cheek," Zeke said, smiling. "I think I might have gotten c-cooties."Darrin was laughing at his son. After asking what game they should play, Zeke was the first to suggest something..Candyland. Darrin smiled. Zaira's eyes lit up. "Yes! I love that one! Can we play that one first? Please Daddy? Zoe?" The little girl quickly slid out of Darrin's arms and was standing next to Zeke, smiling at the adults. "That's fine with me. Zoe?" he asked the girl next to him. He waited to hear what the woman though and then he was quickly in the floor, sitting in front of the short coffee table. Zaira sat down across from her father, making sure that Zooey would have to sit beside of her Daddy. She could tell that he seemed...better when the woman was around and was trying to make sure that it stayed that way. The little girl quickly pulled Zeke down next to her. Darrin opened the game up and began setting it up. After getting the game ready to be played, Darrin ended up having to choose which child went first. He finally got Zeke to agree that it should always be 'ladies' first. As they played, the children were both laughing and most obviously having a wonderful time.

After about thirty minutes, their game came to an end. Judith was yelling for them to come and eat. "After we eat we can play another game." he said, trying to convince the kids to leave their board games. Darrin made his way into the dining room and sat down. Zaira sat on one side of Darrin, trying to get Zooey to sit with her as well. The children were being awfully chatty as their grandmother sat down to join them. They were eating, and..to the children everything seemed almost normal again. Zaira loved having Zooey around. She seemed to have her Daddy back. She would have to do something nice for the woman. Maybe draw her something. The group ate, and soon the meal was over. The children were already in the living room again, waiting to play another game. "What game should we play now, Zeke?" Zaira asked her brother. Darrin told Zoe that she could go ahead and join the kids..that he'd be in there in a few moments. He was going to help his mother to clear the table.

Zoe realized what the children were doing a little too late, and she ended up sitting beside Darrin on the floor. Zaira went first, only after some persuasion on Darrin's part about ladies always going first. It was slightly amusing, his dad only had to suggest it once or twice and Zeke was all for it, even insisting that Zoe go before he and his father since she was technically a lady too, even if she had given him cooties. As per usual, Zoe was last to finish as she always seemed to get close to the end, only to pick a card and be pulled back to the beginning. When she was a kid she used to hate the game, usually convincing her partner to go and get her a drink so she could arrange the cards the way they needed to be for a potential win for her. After awhile they realized what she was doing though, and never left her alone with cards. It wasn't that she was a sore loser, really, just... she liked winning better. Okay, so she was a sore loser, so what? Zaira was in the lead by the end, but Zeke didn't seem to mind much, he was busy watching her and his father most of the time.

At the table, Zeke sat at the other side of Zaira, leaving an open seat beside his father. Again she shook her head, trying not to laugh as she took the seat beside the man. "I think your children are trying to hook us up," she teased, having leaned close enough to whisper it to him. Dinner was wonderful, and she thanked Judith multiple times before the meal was over. The children immediately ran into the living room, ready for another game. Zeke had offered to let his sister pick the game when she asked, since he had picked the last one and she'd won, too. Zoe stayed behind, asking if they needed help. Though Darrin told her to go ahead with the kids, and she did what he instructed, going to sit with the children. "Your daddy will be back in a few minutes, but in the meantime, did either of you pick a game yet?" Zoe grinned, waggling her eyebrows playfully which earned her giggles from the children.

Zaira was back sitting in her previous spot. She was beaming and watched as her brother entered into the room to join her. She was happily chatting with Zeke. "Can you believe that Daddy played a game with us? I hope that he'll play another one." she said. She knew that the man could easily change his mind and go lock himself in his bedroom once more. The little girl looked up as Zooey entered into the room. The woman sat with the young children and spoke. "Your daddy will be back in a few minutes, but in the meantime, did either of you pick a game yet?" Zaira's eyes widen and her smile became a bit wider. "Is he really?" Zaira asked. She was so happy that Zoe had told her that her Daddy was going to play another game with them. "I wanna play pictionary! Can we?" she said, smiling. The little girl was eyeing the other two people that were in the room her. "Daddy loves that game! We used to play it all of the time!" Zaira quickly got up from her seat and walked over to where they'd left the pile. She quickly found the game and carried it back to the short coffee table. She sat the game down upon the table and sat back down. "Can we get the game ready? Daddy should be here soon?"

Darrin watched as Zooey left the room to follow after the children. Judith gently wrapped her arms around Darrin's arm. He quickly turned his eyes upon his mother. "I'm glad to see you out of your room. It's doing you good." she said softly, releasing him. She began clearing up the table. Darrin joined her, helping to put away any left overs. They worked in relative silence. Darrin then took the dirty dishes into the sink. "Go ahead and go into the living room. They're waiting on you." Judith said, smiling. "I'll finish up here."

Darrin smiled at his mother and made his way into the living room. When he entered, he saw that they were already sitting around the table. He sat back down, taking a seat near the table. "So, what are we playing now?" he asked, smiling. Of course he'd noticed the game already sitting upon the table but knew that his children would want to tell him what they had chosen. Zaira was beaming him. "I picked pictionary! You love that one, right Daddy?" the girl asked, hoping that she'd chosen well. Darrin was smiling at his little girl. "I do! How did you know?" he was joking with her. "Zoe, you would have loved our our old house. It was even bigger than this one. Right Zeke? Tell Zoe all about it!" Zaira said, beaming. Darrin didn't object to the new subject, instead he watched those around him as they spoke about California.

Both Zoe and Zeke nodded, helping Zaira get the game ready. It didn't take long, and she still heard the two other adults clearing dishes from the dining room. Deciding that she needed to say something to distract them, in case they get the idea to go and try to help or something, the girl recalled the drawings that were made the other night to try and help Darrin feel better. That caused her mind to stray towards other things, like birthdays and holidays and such. "Hey, when is your guys birthday?" Hopefully it would be sooner rather than later, so she could still be there for it and get them something. She didn't have much money, and she was sure Darrin would shower the children with gifts, but she could always draw them something. Zaira had asked earlier for a fish for her birthday, which led her to assume that it might have been coming up soon, either way she wanted to do something for the kids.

Darrin returned a few minutes later, and Zoe scooted over a bit so he would have more room. The little girl and her father seemed to get along so well, she obviously loved him very much. Though Zeke seemed a bit skeptical, as if not wanting to believe that his father was back, because then he would leave again. It was probably strange for such a young child to be so concerned about something, especially when the something was this, but he was anyways. When his mommy left and father disappeared, he had tried to take on the big boy role, even if he was the same age as his sister.

His sister spoke of their old house, and Zeke smiled. "It was g-great, really b-big." he nodded, gesturing for Zaira to go first for pictionary. "B-but I like this one better," the boy continued, looking up at Zoe. "C-Cause you're here Zooey, and you're Daddy's friend, right?" Zeke looked over at his sister, hoping she would agree with him. He missed his mom, badly, but Zoe was so nice to them, and she wasn't hurting his daddy like mommy did.

Zaira was beaming at Zooey. "Yes! Much better here! I love playing with you Zooey! You are Daddy's friend, right?" Zaira said, copying Zeke. Her eyes were glued onto the woman. Zaira looked to Darrin. "Will you be on my team, Daddy? Then we can beat Zeke and Zoe!" The little girl said. Darrin nodded at the girl. Zaira rolled the dice, declaring that Darrin would be drawing for their team this round. As they played, Zaira was laughing, as usual. Darrin was currently drawing, Zaira was trying to figure out the drawing. The little girl was trying to lean in and get a better view. "I don't know what it is.." Zaira was looking frustrated. "Zooey, will you help me?" she said, not bothering to look up. The picture that Darrin was quickly working on was quite well done considering how quickly his hand was moving. The image that was upon the paper was a group of fruit that was in a large bowl that was sitting upon a counter. Zaira could only guess fruit and that had not been it. Darrin was smiling at his daughter. All she had to do was put the two words, fruit and bowl together and she would have the right word. The little girl was staring hard at the image. She just couldn't figure it out. "Zoe, please? Help me." Zaira said, starting to get a tad bit upset.

Judith had finished the dishes and slowly made her way into the living room. She stood at the door frame, smiling brightly at seeing Darrin smiling and laughing as the four in the floor were playing games. Judith caught Zooey's eyes and smiled brightly at the woman. She wanted Zooey to know how happy that she was right then. She felt like Darrin was slowly coming back to them. He was seeming to take his time. If only he would stop drinking and taking drugs. She could handle him smoking but the pills and alcohol was taking a toll on their family, even if Darrin hadn't realized it yet. She would need to speak to Zooey privately at some point about everything. Judith slowly made her way into the room and sat down upon the couch, behind her son. She just couldn't believe at how he'd at least been trying to make an effort since Zooey arrived. Hopefully, the woman could help Darrin. As a friend of course, Judith wasn't sure if Darrin ever wanted another relationship again.

Zooey was watching Darrin draw, slowly putting together the bowl on fruit sitting on a counter. Every time Zaira said "fruit" and Darrin denied it though, she became less and less convinced that that was it. "Ummm," her eyes narrowed slightly as she chewed on her lip, finally giving up and turning towards Zeke. The boy looked pleased with himself, mischievous even. "I know what it is," he told them, trying to mimic what Zoe had done earlier and waggled his eyebrows at the group. His nanny gave an exasperated sigh, "Well, tell us!" she was frustrated because she couldn't figure it out, he could tell that much, and it only amused him more. "Fruitbowl." Deadpan. Zoe's jaw dropped and she looked over at Zaira in disbelief, shocked that they couldn't guess it. Zeke rolled his eyes, laughing now. "See Daddy? Girls are dumb," he joked. Pretending to be insulted, she reached over to Darrin and pulled the board out of his hands before her and Zeke started on their own drawing.

While Zeke held up the drawing of a bunch of fish, trying to get them to say aquarium, Zoe suggested that she get ice cream for them. For the most part, she had only suggested it so that she could get Judith in the kitchen with her, so she could ask for Damion's number. When she had taken the job, it came with the promise of one of the weekend days off. Up until then she hadn't really been planning on using it, she liked being around the children, but now she felt the need to talk to Damion. She figured she could text him or something, ask if he'd meet her for lunch or coffee. Before she'd gone into the kitchen she asked if Judith would accompany her, and now she was just pulling bowls out of cabinets to use for ice cream. "Um, so, Damion said that if I needed him to ask you for his number... I was hoping to meet him for lunch or something tomorrow, or Sunday if that's better for you." The girl asked nervously, hoping she wouldn't get angry with her.

Darrin laughed as Zeke spoke. "See Daddy? Girls are dumb." Zooey seemed insulted as she pulled the board from Darrin, though the man didn't say anything. He watched as his son and Zoe worked on their drawing. Darrin remained quiet, just taking in everything. His eyes turned to Zooey as she said that she'd get them all some ice cream. Darrin couldn't help but wonder if his mother had been trying to get the younger girl to try and get him to eat more. Shaking the thought from his mind, he turned his attention to his children. Zaira was bouncing around the room, begging him to sing for them. Darrin thought for a moment. He could for them. He would do anything for Zaira and Zeke and they had always loved it when he sung for them. But..it wouldn't just be them listening and watching. Zooey would be there too and for some reason that made him slightly nervous. He smiled at his children before asking Zeke to bring him the old guitar that was still sitting out. As the boy handed him the item, Darrin began tuning the instrument as they waited for Zooey. He began singing. As Darrin sung, the children were smiling brightly and watching the man as he strummed on the guitar. It was easy to see how much Darrin did love singing as he sat in the floor with his children. Zaira looked up at Zooey and her Grandmother, smiling brightly, as if saying I got him to sing.

Judith followed Zooey into the kitchen to help the woman with the ice cream. "Um, so, Damion said that if I needed him to ask you for his number... I was hoping to meet him for lunch or something tomorrow, or Sunday if that's better for you." Zooey said. Judith thought for a moment. "I'll get it for you before I leave. Tomorrow is fine. I'll be here early so you'll be free all day. Just..be careful with Damion. He's not known for being the most committed person." Judith said, trying to be nice and not say anything to awful about the boy. "I did want to talk to you about Darrin, though. While we are in here and he's entertaining the kids. I'm not sure if you know this or not, but when he was in school, Darrin started taking more performing arts classes and things like that once he'd gotten into high school. He was so happy being in those classes. It was so strange though. Not more than four weeks into the school year he came home from school and told me that he'd dropped all of those classes to take art and improve his drawing. I couldn't understand it so being the concerned mother that I was I called the school to find out why he'd dropped the classes that he'd loved so much. He was being bullied, very badly from what I found out. All because he'd taken these classes. I also found out about the other problems that he'd had that Darrin had tried so hard to keep from us. I'm not sure why he never came to me or his father. He felt like he needed to handle the bullying on his own I suppose. Darrin has always had a gentle heart. He would prefer to avoid fighting. When he was in school he seemed quite like he'd given up. And..since you've started I've seen more of my son that I have in over a year. Thank you." The older woman was gazing at Zooey, unshed tears in her eyes. It was then that she heard the guitar. She quickly made her way back to the living room doorway and stared at her son, happiness written upon her face.

Zooey's eyes grew wide when she heard Judith say Damion wasn't known for being very committed. It mostly startled her since that hadn't really crossed her mind, her want to have lunch with him was just to ask more questions about Darrin, to try and get to know him better. For some reason, she was just to nervous- maybe even frightened -to ask the man these things herself. The idea of it being like, a date almost, never even occurred to her. Though now she began to rethink her decision, did she really want him to get the wrong feelings or something? What if Darrin got mad at her- or worse, him? She reminded herself of the possibility of knowing more about her boss though, and she couldn't hold back her curiosity, there was no way she was going to be able to go very much longer without accidentally blurting out one of her questions. "I really wasn't thinking of it that way, Mrs. Reed," she said shyly, though thoughts of being on an actual date with Darrin's attractive drummer wasn't too bad now that she got used to the idea. "I just needed to ask him a few things, I guess." It wasn't too long after that awkward conversation that she spoke about Darrin, causing Zoe to frown. "Damion told me about that," at least about some of it. "I'm really sorry, I just..." she paused, shaking her head and distracting herself with filling the last bowl. "I really like Darrin. I don't know him all that well, but I already feel like we're friends or something. It makes me happy when he's happy, I guess."

She didn't get herself any ice cream, she wasn't in the mood for it. Carrying the bowls into the living room, she handed one to each child and set the other on the table for Darrin. The girl was trying to be as quiet as she could be, as Darrin had started singing. Luckily the kids seemed too distracted by him to even notice her enter, if it hadn't been for the ice cream, she doubted they would have even glanced over at her. At the end both her and Zeke applauded with Zaira, Zeke going as far as to get up and jump around, giggling about how awesome his daddy was. The little boy crawled over to the man when he was finished, feeling himself getting sleepier, especially after running around like that. He immediately curled up against his fathers side, grinning up at him, though it was obvious he was beginning to feel tired. "I missed you Daddy, don't go away again."

Zoe hadn't expected the words to come from Zeke, and she stared at the child it awe. Both of them looked so adorable together, and she couldn't help but feel the slight sting of jealousy inside her. Before then she had been about to pester Darrin again about teaching her to play like he did, but she couldn't find the words for it now. Though what did pop up in her head wasn't entirely expected. She was going to ask Darrin to come with her tomorrow, maybe she could find a way to force the two boys back together.

Darrin smiled at his children as they clapped for him. Both children were bouncing around the room. Darrin gently sat the guitar next to him, allowing the instrument to lie forgotten. It was his oldest guitar and it would be alright if something happened to it. Zeke suddenly was upon the ground again and crawled over to Darrin. The young boy gently curled up against his father's side. Darrin gently put an arm around the small child. Zeke was grinning and looking up at his father. "I missed you Daddy, don't go away again." Darrin smiled sadly at the child. "I'll try my best." he said softly. Surprisingly to Darrin, he meant it. He would try as hard as he could to resist the urge to drink and take the pills. "But, I think that it's your bedtime." the handsome man said, smiling. He heard small protests as he stood. Darrin picked Zeke up and walked into the hallway. He paused there, allowing Zeke to tell his Granny goodnight. Darrin made his way up the stairs, seemingly to easily carry the boy the entire way. Once upon the second floor, Darrin headed into the children's bedroom. He made his way to Zeke's side of the room. He sat the boy down onto the ground to allow him to get dressed into his pjs. Darrin pulled the covers down on the boy's bed and waited patiently for the child to get into bed. He tucked his son in and kissed his forehead, telling him goodnight. Darrin then made his way over to Zaira's side of the room. Knowing his daughter, she'd probably tried to get Zooey to carry her. Darrin pulled the little girl's blankets down and waited for the girls to arrive.

Zaira pouted as she watched her father pick Zeke up to take to bed. She quickly turned to Zooey. "Carry me!" she said, smiling at the woman. As they made their way by Judith, Zaira told her Granny good night. Before they headed upstairs, Judith gently handed Zooey a small piece of paper. "His number. Like i said, I'll be here early. I'm going to go ahead and head out. Will you let Darrin know?" she said. Once inside the bedroom, Zaira quickly got into her pjs and was in the bed waiting for her Daddy to tuck her in.

Once Zaira was in her bed, Darrin gently tucked the small girl in and kissed her forehead. Afterwards, he quietly made his way out of the room, allowing Zooey to tell the children goodnight. Darrin headed downstairs, noting that it seemed like his mother had already left. He needed a smoke. He walked out the door and sat back down into the chair that he'd sat in earlier that day. He pulled out a cigarette and lit it, taking a drag and watching the forest and the animals that were coming and going.

His father's answer seemed to please Zeke, and he curled up completely against the man, closing his eyes as he was lifted into the air. "Night Grandma," he managed to mumble, holding as tight as he could to his fathers arm as he was carried upstairs. He felt safe in his fathers arms, like he should. But he also noticed that his father looked a lot smaller than before, and the clothes that used to fit him almost seemed to consume his daddy. It was strange to think about, so he just tried not to. For the little boy, it was easier that way, rather than asking questions and getting the answers he was afraid of. Like when he had asked if mommy was ever coming back. That time was different though. That time, he was just met with silence.

After changing into new dinosaur PJ's, he crawled into bed and hugged his Lightening McQueen to his chest before saying his I love you's and Goodnight's.

Downstairs, Zoe had easily picked Zaira up into her arms and was about to head towards the stairs when Judith slipped her a piece of paper. The girl smiled, mumbling a quick thank you before making her way up the childs room. Darrin was already inside, taking care of Zeke. "Hey, isn't that my job?" she teased quietly, not wanting the children to get excited or wake up again, they both looked almost half asleep already. After they were both in bed, Zoe left the room in time to tell Darrin that his mother had left, not that he wouldn't have noticed by the time he went downstairs and she was gone. Next she went to her room and retrieved her phone to text Damion.

her: Me has echado de menos? It's Zooey, let's meet up for lunch tomorrow. Darrin will be there.

Stuffing her phone into her back pocket, she grabbed her sketchbook and a few pencils before joining Darrin outside a few minutes later. "You know smoking'll kill you," she commented, sitting down next to him and setting the paper and pencil on the table between them. "How do you feel about going out to lunch tomorrow? It's my sort-of day off, and your Mamá offered to watch the kids."

Darrin didn't look around to see who was coming outside. He knew who it was. The woman sat down near him, then began speaking to her. "You know smoking'll kill you. How do you feel about going out to lunch tomorrow? It's my sort-of day off, and your Mamá offered to watch the kids." Darrin turned to eye Zooey for a moment. "If I wanted to be told the dangers of smoking, I'd ask my Mom. Trust me, she's been all over me about it for years." He regarded the woman for a moment, intensely staring at her. Did he want to go to lunch with her? "Alright." he said softly, going back to staring off into the wild. Why he'd agreed to go with Zooey escaped him. He didn't really feel like going anywhere but she'd asked and he'd complied. "Though I don't see why you'd want to waste the day taking me with you." he said. He looked completely serious, though he was joking with the girl. "What time are you wanting to head out?" he asked, turning his dark brown eyes back to Zooey.

Damion was sitting at his home, watching tv. Suddenly, his phone went off. It was a text message from Zooey. Why would she invite him to lunch knowing that Darrin was probably really pissed at him for punching him. He sighed heavily. He quickly began typing a reply. Damion: Hey girl! If you think that he'll be ok with it, I'll be there. Just tell me when and where! Damion hit the send button and waited for a reply.

Darrin took another drag of the cigarette, releasing the smoke away from Zooey. His eyes were focused on her. He was surprised that during the day, he'd not really felt the need to drink or take any pills. Now, though, he was beginning to feel the pull again. Why couldn't he get away from it? Had he looked at his hands, Darrin would have noticed a slight shake in them.

Zooey just shrugged, "I don't like smoke," was all she said, pulling her phone out of her pocket and turning it around in her hands. It was mostly just to distract her, but she also wanted to make sure she felt her phone vibrate when- if Damion texted her back. When he agreed to go out with her she smiled, face still hidden from him as her hair fell from behind her hair. She didn't want him to see her excited about tomorrow, but she didn't know why. Perhaps because she wanted to stay indifferent, she didn't want to care if he came or stayed at his home. At first she thought he was being serious, and almost embarrassed herself by listing off reasons that any sane person would want to hang out with him. "You're a jerk," she said, pulling her knees up and hugging them to her chest. "I thought you were serious, almost seriously embarrassed myself there." She shook her head before feeling her phone vibrate in her hands. "How does noon-ish sound?"

Zooey: Olive Garden, noon. x

The girl noticed now that Darrin was at least attempting to keep the smoke away from her, exhaling away from her. She was grateful, not that she would admit it though. "Stay up with me," she said suddenly, looking towards the man who was probably wondering where the hell she was going with that. "Two days ago, we were sitting at the table and you asked if I'd kiss your 'boo boos'." She made parentheses around the word with her fingers. Now she was sitting up a bit, looking almost excited. "Well, this is me kissin' them. If you're up with me, you can't do those things." So, she was stepping out of line. Way out of line, to the point where she half expected Darrin to just stand and leave. But she figured the only way she was even going to get anywhere with this man was to push her- and his -limits.

Damion smiled as he read Zooey's text. He sent her one back. Damion: Are you sure about this? He's going to be pissed seeing me there. Damion sent the message smiling. He needed to get through to Darrin. He was a bit nervous about seeing his friend again. He's royally made him mad the day before. Damion didn't regret punching Darrin, though. The man had deserved it. He'd not been the nicest person when he'd left the band.

Darrin turned his eyes to rest upon Zooey's form as she spoke to him. "Stay up with me," her eyes turned to Darrin. He looked at her, a bit confused. Why in the world was she wanting him to stay up with her? Before he was able to ask her about it, she was speaking again. "Two days ago, we were sitting at the table and you asked if I'd kiss your 'boo boos'." Zooey seemed excited about the thought of staying up with him. "Well, this is me kissin' them. If you're up with me, you can't do those things." He couldn't believe what he was hearing. He was hesitating, unsure of what to do or say. He just continued eyeing the pretty woman to his side. He felt compelled to do as she wished. He sighed softly. She was making him nervous and he wasn't sure if he liked it. He'd not been nervous since he had begun dating Hannah. "Then tell me, just what do you propose we do? I'm afraid just sitting here isn't helping." he said softly. He was sure that his statement hadn't sounded the friendliest but he was trying. He continued to watch the girl, wondering what she wanted to do to stay awake. He finished his cigarette and disposed of the end into the small ashtray that was to the left of Darrin's chair. He was trying not to light another one, at least right then. After Zooey had said that she didn't like smoke, he'd felt awful for smoking around her. He'd have to try to do better.

Zooey: Does it matter? You two are making up, no if, ands, or buts about it. Bring him flowers or something, I'm sure he'd 'love' it.

Zooey waited for his response, nearly laughing at the intensity of it. To her, it reminded her of the time in high school that she had admitted she loved a boy, and had been waiting for him to say it back. Obviously he didn't, replied with something along the lines of we should see other people. At the time it had bothered her, now it was more a memory to look back at and laugh about. Since then she hadn't dated anyone else, didn't want to have to worry about the heartbreak and stuff. It was inevitable, after all. It was pretty easy to keep her mind off of boys anyways, with music and sketching and work to occupy her mind.

Finally he spoke, sounding perhaps a bit annoyed, but she didn't take it to heart. "Well obviously sitting here isn't helping, you're not busy doing something." She took a moment to think, trying to recall the things her and her brother would do when they were home alone and bored. "We could draw, you could start teaching me how to be amazing at guitar," alright, so that was only a sort of joke. "Truth or dare, if we wanted to go old school high school sleepover." She was going to do whatever it took to keep him occupied. "You've got to have an xbox somewhere around here that we could play. We could go for a walk, play a game, watch a movie, anything."

"It'll be like a, you-name-it-and-I'll-do-it sort of thing."

Damion: Yes. Do you want him causing a scene? Whatever. I'm going to trust that you know what you're doing. Flowers? I would love to see his face if I brought some. Hahah! Do you realize when we're spotted by the paparazzi that it's going to be crazy? We've not been seen together in over a year. Are you sure that you can handle it? Damion sent the message back to the girl. He was smiling. He wanted badly to have his best friend back. He missed him. He'd often caught himself wanting to call Darrin over silly things and then would recall that they were still mad at each other.

Darrin was eyeing Zooey again. "Well obviously sitting here isn't helping, you're not busy doing something." Zooey said. She seemed to be thinking before saying anything else to him. "We could draw, you could start teaching me how to be amazing at guitar, Truth or dare, if we wanted to go old school high school sleepover. You've got to have an xbox somewhere around here that we could play. We could go for a walk, play a game, watch a movie, anything." Darrin thought for a long moment. He'd not realized it until then, but it had been a very long time since anyone was allowing him to decide what he wanted to do. Even Hannah had always had to have her way. He was sure he looked silly, a grown man trying to make his mind up about what to do to occupy the time. He smiled at the girl suddenly. "How about..we watch a movie and I'll 'start' teaching you to play guitar better?" he asked. He stood and held out a hand to help the girl up. "I'm going to warn you though, I'm an awful teacher." he said as he led the way back into the house. Darrin walked into the living room and turned on the tv, keeping the volume a bit lower so as to be able to hear Zooey. He quickly flicked through the screen until he came to Netflix and handed the remote to Zooey. "I'll let you pick." he said smiling at the girl. He gently picked up his forgotten guitar and propped it up against the couch. He sat down and motioned for the woman to join him.

Zooey: You do remember who you're talking to, right? Esta chica can handle anything. The thought of getting Darrin and Damion together was exciting, yet at the same time pretty terrifying. She had her hopes that Damion would stick up for her if the other man tried to yell at her for not telling him that he was going to be there, but she wasn't really sure about it. It wasn't like she knew either boys very well, she had met Damion once and had known Darrin for less than a week. Still, she couldn't stop her want to help. That had always been her biggest flaw, she never knew when to stay out of things. She just wanted to fix everything, she liked feeling needed.

Zooey was actually quite amused at the expression that Darrin currently held. He looked lost, as if he had never been given the chance to make his own decisions. She would admit that it was a little strange for her too, she was used to taking charge of most things and not giving anyone else the chance to take over. It wasn't her fault, her father had made her that way. But this was about keeping Darrin occupied, and also preferably happy, so it would be best if he got to chose what he was going to be doing until they ended up passing out. Usually she would have had a Monster with her or something when she wanted to pull an all-nighter, and she had definitely done it enough time during exams, but this was different. It wasn't her house, wasn't her family, she didn't have the authority to do whatever she wanted around here.

It sort of sucked.

After the man decided and they went inside, Zoe quickly took her spot on the couch near Darrin before flipping through the movies. "The Substitute," a horror/thriller. "Or Tomorrow When The War Began?" The latter was her top favorite movie ever, but she had been wanting to watch The Substitute also. After he answered she turned the movie on and sat for a few moments, watching the intro before turning towards Darrin. "Alright teacher," she was sitting sideways, facing him with her legs crossed Indian style. "Teach."

Zooey was asking Darrin what movie out of two that he would prefer. He thought for only a moment before answering, "The Substitute?" he more, asked than told. He wasn't sure which was the right answer. He relaxed a bit as the woman flicked the movie on. As the movie was beginning, Zoe said, "Alright teacher, teach." Darrin watched as the woman turned to face him, sitting with her legs crossed. He gently picked up the old guitar and began going through the basics with her, even though she probably knew most of it. It would be better to relearn it. Before long, the movie was ending. Darrin didn't seem to notice. He loved talking about the guitar. Darrin made sure to ask several times if Zooey had any questions. Eventually he began having her play a bit for him, so that he could watch her fingers closely. He would correct her every once in a while, always smiling at her. At some point, they had ended up sitting side by side, their sides almost touching. Darrin hadn't seemed to notice. He was gently moving Zooey's fingers a bit as she kept moving them to a different position. Their heads were quite close as well. Though Darrin had let his hair grow out a bit since Hannah had left, he normally kept his hair a bit shorter. Because of it's slightly longer length, his hair was slightly in his face, but didn't seem to be bothering him at all.

Damion: If you're sure. I can't wait to see you all! You wouldn't believe how boring it's been not being near the other guys. They stayed in Cali. Maybe if Darrin will straighten up we can all get together sometime.

Damion was glad to be talking to Zooey. He'd liked the girl. She was hot but he wasn't sure if he was allowed to have such thoughts with her living and working for Darrin. Tomorrow at lunch, he'd have to see how far he could go without the other man getting angry. He smiled to himself. Oh yes. Tomorrow would be very interesting indeed.

Zooey: Just remember, Olive Garden at noon.

Darrin hadn't seemed to notice how close they had gotten, but Zooey had. Every time his hand touched hers, a shiver ran across her skin. Her fingers danced over the strings, and she found herself making rookie mistakes simply because she wanted him to correct her, because she wanted to feel his touch again. It made her feel vulnerable again, something she had long since refused to be. She wasn't sure why she was allowing it, what made her feel that way. Perhaps it was because it was so late and she wasn't thinking clearly, or it could have been because "being" with Darrin Reed had been her and her few friends ultimate fantasy when she was younger.

At one point Darrin had gotten so close that his hair kept brushing against her forehead when he would lean forward to see her fingers over the guitar, causing her to continuously make mistakes until she finally just stopped playing and let the laughter out that she'd been holding in. "That tickles, Darrin," she smiled, reaching up to brush away the few strands of hair that kept tickling her. The girl was obviously getting tired, and her eyes were getting heavy, but she wasn't sleeping until Darrin was too. "I think.. I like your hair the best when it's this color," in the process of trying to move his hair away, she ended up capturing a strand of it and was twirling it around her finger. Letting go, she dropped her hands to her lap and gently strummed the guitar. "Sing for me?"

"That tickles, Darrin," Zooey said, smiling at him. Her smile was catching and Darrin returned it. The man continued showing Zooey how to play. As he was showing her a chord, she said, "I think.. I like your hair the best when it's this color," Darrin had not expected the girl to end up holding a strand of his hair, twirling it around her finger. Darrin had almost frozen. How he was able to remain so calm was a mystery to him. He'd not allowed any woman this close to him since Hannah had left. He wasn't sure if he should be now. He just..couldn't find it in himself to stop the girl. He needn't have worried, as she soon dropped his hair. Zooey began strumming the guitar again, and then she asked him a question that he'd not been expecting from her. "Sing for me?" Darrin hesitated. Should he? As he looked at Zooey, he realized that it was the least that he could do. She was somehow managing to help him stay away from the alcohol and pills. She was trying to stay up with him so as to keep him busy. He smiled almost shyly at the girl and then looked down. He was sure that it looked like he wasn't going to. He was trying to decide what to sing for her. He took a deep breath, and then he sang to the girl at his side, that was so close to him.

As Darrin finished singing, he was looking at Zooey. "You should get some rest. You're exhausted." he said softly, smiling at her. Darrin had decided to stay downstairs for the night. He'd be more likely to keep away from his demons that way. Darrin looked at the clock. It was getting very late or very early depending on how he looked at it. He could feel himself becoming tired. He knew that the kids would be up early as usual and if he wanted any sleep, he should probably get to bed soon.

Damion read the message as he laid in his bed. He quickly typed a reply. Damion: I won't forget! Just hope you know what you're getting yourself into. I'll see you guys tomorrow. He sent the message and quickly turned over in his bed. He was worried about how Darrin was going to react to seeing him. As he played out several possibilities in his mind, Damion slowly fell asleep.

Staring almost in awe at Darrin, she blushed. His voice was so perfect, she was insanely jealous of it and completely in love with it at the same time. At first she had thought he wasn't going to sing at all, making her nervous since that meant she had probably made a fool of herself for even asking. Then she realized he looked almost shy, even while singing, and it somehow made her feel shy too. It was the vulnerability returning, and she noticed that again, she didn't do anything to try and stop it. About then it probably would have been a good idea to move away, or at least drop her legs since they were currently against his, but she didn't. It was almost scary, and she felt his eyes on her towards the end of the song. Listening carefully to the lyrics, it dawned on her that she had never heard the song before.

She would admit that when she finished, she was a bit disappointed. It was nice hearing him sing, his voice, everything about him just made her feel happy. Even when it was just her back sitting in her room, listening to him through her earphones or on the radio, it made her feel almost better. Of course she never imagined that one day she would be sitting next to him, having him sing just for her, it made her feel.. special, you could say. He suggested she get some rest, and she nodded slowly. As she got up, he probably expected her to head upstairs, but instead she grabbed a blanket- and threw him one too -before crawling into the armchair. "What? You didn't think I was about to leave you now, did you?" There was a slightly teasing note in her voice as she curled up in the chair, pulling the blanket around her and facing the couch Darrin was on. "'Night Mr. Reed."

Zeke woke up at seven, as per usual. He wasn't sure if his sister was up or not, so he decided to go over and bother her. Odds were that she would be awake, and if she wasn't it would just be better for him, getting payback on his sister for waking him up the previous day. "Zaaaaaira!" he sang, jumping on her bed before scrambling down and towards the door. "I betcha I can beat you downstairs!" The little boy ran quickly down the steps, figuring his Grandma would be downstairs already and probably already making his and Zaira's breakfast, even if his Daddy and Zoe were still sleeping. What he didn't really expect to see was both of them sleeping on the couches. Tiptoeing past, he snuck into the kitchen to see if his Grandma was there, and if she had saw the two adults.
