| THOUGHTS ON YOKAI |
While she is an avid fan of such stories, she believes them to be just that, stories and nothing more. Yuki is a dreamer, but she's been made fun of for so long in previous towns for believing that she's finally decided to grow up and give up on childish fantasies. That doesn't mean she is not interested, and she would be ecstatic if they truly did exist!

She has scars on her left arm, just below her elbow from her childhood. She was bit by a dog on her walk to school and the teeth marks have been forever marked into her arm. She doesn't enjoy talking about it and will usually wear longer sleeves to cover it up. The scar is unsightly, something that Yuki would rather forget if possible.

Ever since she was a little girl, Yukiko has loved fairy tales and legends. Whether it is of magical lands or Yokai, Yukiko has always believed in what other people deem 'childish'. Despite being bullied, Yukiko has kept a dreamer's heart, and can be quite superstitious. As she grew older, Yukiko has begun to question whether she should give up on such things, and has kept her fascination hidden under lock and key to avoid being bullied in the new town. Behind closed doors, however, Yukiko indulges her fantasies and spends a lot of time researching mythology on her laptop. She is secretly obsessed with the idea of Yokai and reads tons of fanfictions and manga about the species.
For the most part, however, Yukiko keeps to herself when possible as she is a shy girl. When in a crowd, she becomes rather reserved, keeping most of her thoughts to herself. However, Yukiko will speak when spoken to. She finds it hard to socialize with strangers and prefers to stay at home or explore the forest on her own. There is a more friendly and bubbly side to her, though, as Yukiko begins to feel comfortable, she slowly warms up to people and can be very energetic and outgoing. After years of bullying in her hometown, Yukiko finds it difficult to open up to others and express her true self, far too afraid of being hurt and ridiculed by her peers. Once you've gotten close enough to Yukiko to become friends, she is incredibly loyal. It is very difficult to sever your friendship with her, and she will do almost anything within her ability to help someone she deems to be her friend. Yukiko has been raised by her parents to be a very dedicated friend if nothing else.
Despite her positive traits, Yukiko can be quite stubborn if scorned or offended. She does not forgive those whom she is not friends with easily. Even with her friends, if you've managed to royally piss her off, she can be very reluctant to hear you out. It is usually best to give her a moment to breathe, but she is typically not a very violent person. It would take a lot of torment or teasing to make her physically lash out. She does not believe violence is the answer to anything and would describe herself as a pacifist. She hates violence, but even she has certain limits.

Yukiko is an only child to her mother and father who have been married for eighteen years. Her mother and father have been overprotective since day one, as her mother cannot have another child without possibly dying in the process. Yukiko was born in another city, and at first, her life was great. She was outgoing and extroverted, a very energetic and spirited child. With a lot of friends around her, Yukiko was always telling her friends interesting or scary legends. All was well, until middle school. The girls she used to spend time with 'grew up' and were too old for childish stories like Yukiko believed in. Her friend circle slowly evaporated, until Yukiko was completely alone. Hanging out with a weird otaku like her was considered social suicide. After that, Yukiko spent years being bullied and harassed for her interests in fictional things like Yokai, vampires, and other 'mythical' beings...
When she entered high school, the bullying escalated and became physical. During her Sophmore year, an incident where Yukiko was pushed down a flight of stairs by one of her former friends. Thankfully Yukiko survived the fall with only a broken arm and a minor concussion. She was consequently hospitalized for a few days to make sure there was no internal bleeding anywhere. The incident forced her parents to accept what was going on beyond their control. With no other peaceful options, Yukiko's parents opened their eyes and understood that their daughter was no longer protected at that school. Taking extra measures to assure their daughter's security, her parents decided to remove her daughter from her school and they relocated to Komorebi Village. She has been living in the village for two months now without incident and loves the village a lot due to how often they tell tales of the Yokai. Yukiko adores the old-fashioned surroundings, and they only spark her imagination even more. However, she is reluctant to admit she believes in the stories due to her past experiences back home.
