Agatha Amaranth

"Are you alright? What's troubling you?"

0 · 786 views · located in London, England

a character in “Young Master/Mistress and Butler/Maid.”, as played by ZacharyTC

Description

Name: Agatha Amaranth
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Blood Type: B+
Why you're here: Her parents in Greece died when she was 15, leaving noone to look after her except her Yia Yia (Grandmother), who happens to live in London. After a year of coping with the loss, she enrolled into the Academy to keep her mind off the event.
Level: 2
Master/Mistress assigned: Anna-Beth Anderson

Appearance
Hair: Her hair is dark-brown, kept short so she can manage brushing it.
Eyes: The big eyes sparkle like emeralds, having a shade of green which often lands in complements from boys. (Though she is too shy to say anything back)
Dressing Style: She typically wears a knee-length skirt and blouse, wearing a T-shirt underneath so to look decent.
General Appearance
Weight: 107 lbs
Height: 5'2"
Appearence: She is a rather trim girl, having an earthly tone to her skin for having been outside in her parents' garden in Athens. She is often told she is cute, though, again, she is too shy to say anything back.

Character Traits
Likes: Gardens, Swimming, Cooking, Flowers, Politeness, Music, Helping others
Dislikes: Rudeness, Violence, Seeing people's pain
Habits: Tending to flowers
Personality: She is a kind soul, always wishing to help ease people's suffering without thinking of the consequences. Agatha is still shy in social gatherings, preferring to listen to other people's conversations than to be involved in them. This leaves her very quiet unless someone talks to her directly.

History
Bio: Her father's side of the family has always been heavily involved in the Greek Orthodox Church, going on missionary trips and giving to the needy. Her mother's side, being Italian, is made up mostly of Catholics. Because of the confusion in learning both traditions, she trained herself to take a more non-denominational approach to her faith in Jesus. The politcal feud between Greece and Turkey, though, gave her a disillusioned view of the world, realizing that some people are unwilling to get past petty differences in order to cooperate towards peace.
Birthplace: Athens, Greece
Ethnicity: Half-Greek, Half-Italian

Other
Extra info: She will normally be seen in the gardens after school, if not with her mistress. They sort of remind her of Greece, in addition to her mother.
Subjects:

During School- Pre-Calculus, Chemistry, English 2, German 4 AP, Physical Education, World History
After School- Art, Music, Dance, Cooking

Charles blushed a little, himself. "Y-Yeah, and I wouldn't want a lass like you in trouble with your folks for being late, either!"

Eliab smirked a little and clapped. "Alright, Romeo! Come on! Party's over!"

Charles looked Anna-Beth in the eye for a brief moment before kissing her on the lips. At that instant, Eliab looked the other direction. Could he have done that before I came here and possibly made it less embarrassing for her? Once Charles parted lips with her, he got up from the bench and walked beside his butler.

Eliab patted his master on the back. "Don't worry, pal! I didn't see anything!"

Charles was so mesmerized by his first kiss, he did not even bother saying anything other than, "Wow... just... Wow..."

The butler was a little envious. He figured it would take a while for him to win Katherine's affection, and Charles got Anna-Beth within a day. The yankie wondered what his first kiss would be like, to be brutally honest. He imagined it being with his crush, but quickly remembered not to get carried away with such fantasies.

Meanwhile, a sixteen-year-old Mediterrenean girl just finished surveying the flowers from beside a wall when she noticed the three people and what just occurred. Aw, isn't that just sweet? But, wait! Maybe that lady needs a maid! I wouldn't want to disappoint Yia Yia! She walked on over to Anna-Beth and said with a heavy Greek accent, "Excuse me, miss! I haven't been able to find a mistress! Do you happen to know anyone without a maid?"

Anna-Beth stammered, her face colored deeply pink, lips still parted in shock. She stared up at the girl who had rushed over, words absolutely failing her. Had...but he...could he have? Would he have? WHY would he?!

"H-home," she managed to stutter out, "you...come home with me. You can...talk with my father. He...can help you." She stood, clutching her bag and scarf tightly in her fists, glanced once at Charles' retreating back, then spun on her heel and marched towards the front of the school, eyes wide. Numbly, she dialed for the family car, murmuring her location into the cell and snapped it shut, then turned to the girl, assuming she had followed her.

"Did...did you see...? Did that really...just happen?"

((I guess that was a bad move on Charles' part? If so, I'm betting Charles will feel bad about it, later, and try to apologize, once he gathers the courage, that is. Well, that's Charles, for you! Always acting without thinking it through. By the way, Nina has been removed and Agatha is going to have to be the maid.))

The girl frowned. "You mean... you weren't a unit? I could have sworn... then again..." She gasped and tried to massage Anna-Beth's shoulders. "You poor thing! What could have gone through that boy's head? I'm sure there is a reason, but how would I know what? I've never seen something like that before! Would like lil' Agatha to get to the bottom of it for you, sweety? You must be terrified!"

"No, it wasn't...I mean...that isn't to say that...um...," she tucked her hair behind her ears and cleared her throat, "I just...wasn't expecting that. I've...never been kissed before. And he isn't my...my..b-boyfriend or anything, so I was...just shocked. It's ok. I'm ok." I think, she added in her head. Oh, Andrew would have KITTENS when he found out...

"Anyway, a maid...I am lacking one. So if you'd like, and if Father approves, you can work for me." She patted her hair into place and blinked a few times. trying to regain a bit of composure.

((Not a bad move, little Anna just doesn't handle things well! xD))

Agatha nodded before noticing the torn scarf. "Did that catch onto something, dear? Lil' Agatha can fix that, maybe! I'm pretty sure I know how!"

Anna-Beth glanced back down at the shredded scarf in her hands and smile ruefully. "Oh, don't worry about it, I'll fix it. My brother and I had a falling out, and he ripped it. I made it, so I can mend it, too." She sighed and held it up, rubbing the soft material against her cheek. "We usually walk together and wrap it around the two of us. Silly, I know, but it makes us feel close."

Agatha smiled at the thought of how the scarf strengthened the bond. She wished she had a sibling, having been an only child without any peers to talk to on a regular basis. Her only family is her Yia Yia. There were other relatives, but they lived far away. "What is your name?"

"Anna-Beth," she smiled gently, and bowed her head, "my name is Anna-Beth Anderson, of the German Andersons." She laughed briefly, and glanced off to the side. "That's what Father always say, the German Andersons. I suppose we would be confused with the British or American Anderson families otherwise?"

Agatha bowed her head in response. "Agatha Amaranth!" She gave what Ana-Beth said about confusion on which Andersons would be referred to. "I'm not sure about confusion! I've lived most of my life in Athens, tending to a garden and volunteering my time to the Orthodox Church, it being the main denomination in Greece!"

"Oh, Greece! I'm rather jealous, it's lovely there, I want to visit! I used to volunteer at the Catholic church down the street from our estate, but I don't go much anymore. Shame, really." She smiles and sighs, glancing behind her again. "So, girl to girl...do you think I should see him tomorrow? Charles, I mean. Should I say anything to him? Or just act like it's all...normal?"

"Is that his name?" Agatha's eyes widened. She never had any experience with boys, at least not the kind of experience that would help for this particular scenario. "Ooh! Tricky question! Let me think..." She tried to think of something, but nothing satisfactory. "I honestly have no clue! I've never dealt with anything involving romance! Maybe he will explain himself, later on!" She looked at the ground in embarrassment. "I'm sorry, but I can't think of anything else! Up to you!"

"It's alright, I just wanted another girl's opinion," she smiled and placed her hand on the girl's shoulder. A car hourn sounded, and she turned her head and smiled at the headlights of a small car pulling towards them. "Here's the car, c'mon, let's head home." She popped open the back door and slipped inside, beckoning for the other girl to follow.

Agatha followed and got inside. It was nice to see that this blonde was rather kind. It made her feel comfortable. I can't wait to tell Yia Yia!

Anna-Beth leaned forward, then huffed and pitched back, crossing her arms over her chest. "Andrew," she growled.

"Hey there, kiddo. Glad to see you made a friend," the boy leaned back and smiled, causing Anna to sigh and roll her eyes.

"You aren't supposed to drive, Andrew," she scolded, and her brother laughed before merging onto the main road and driving towards their manor.

"And you aren't supposed to be mean to your little brother." The blonde took pause, then leaned forward and kissed his cheek, grumbling an apology.

He laughed, and stared at Agatha in the rearview mirror. "And you are?" he asked, eyes mischevious. The pair were already back into a calmer niche, happy and loving once again.

Agatha blushed, not sure what to make of Andrew. "I... I'm Agatha!" The way the boy looked at her made her feel awkward. I guess this is the unpleasant part of being a maid...

"Well, nice to meet you, Agatha. How was everything after I left? Those punks bug you any more, Anna?"

"No," Anna-Beth smiled softly to herself, "no, they didn't bother me at all...and they AREN'T punks, Andrew." She threw a sneaky wink to Agatha, and brought a finger to her lips, in a shh-keep-my-secret look.

Agatha did not say a word. This conversation was between the twins, anyway. Conversations were not one of the things that she felt keen on. When Anna-Beth gestured not to mention what happened at the gardens, the half-greek girl knew that Andrew definitely did not need to know about it.

"Anyhow, I was thinking about talking to Daddy and seeing if Agatha could be my maid, wouldn't that be lovely?" Anna-Beth smiled at the girl and settled into her seat, staring as the scenery passed by. Today had definitely been a busy day, many things had happened, and she would be happy to have another girl around to keep her company. Andrew nodded thoughtfully, and bit the inside of his cheek, unsure of whether having MORE females around was indeed intelligent.

Agatha noticed slight uneasiness in how Andrew reacted to Anna-Beth query. "Are you alright, Andrew?"

At the dorms, Charles and Eliab just got inside the lobby. It has been quite a day for both of them. Charles snuck in his first kiss, and Eliab enjoyed his stroll in the greenhouse gardens with Katherine. They both had something to be happy about. However, thoughts entered both of their minds. Were they a little too rash?

"Hey, Eliab! Did I come up too strong when I kissed Anna-Beth?"

The yankee shrugged. "It wasn't the smartest of things to do, having only met today!" He patted his master on the shoulder. "But, hey! It's not any worse than my early confession to Katherine!"

The red-haired master felt a little better. "True, mate! True!"

"Andrew doesn't like me talking to Daddy. He's also not used to girls, besides me," Anna-Beth explained, ignoring Andrew's annoyed glare in the rearview.

"It's not that I don't like girls," he mutters.

"Yes it is."

"No it's not, shut up!" Anna-Beth giggled, but quieted, and let him speak. He cleared his throat and sighed, "I've never paid much attention to girls, I worry too much about Anna to do anything but. So around girls who aren't her...I don't really know what to do."

"He's really sweet," Anna-Beth says, "and he's always attracted a lot of girls. It's his temper or lack of patience that chases them away."

"Oh..." In a way, Agatha figured she and Andrew had something in common. They never had much experience with the opposite gender. It sort of made her feel better, though looking at Andrew again made her blush and turn her eyes toward the window. She was not the kind of person who would talk for extended periods of time unless someone spoke directly to her. It's okay! You can handle this! Yia Yia knows you can!

((I'm thinking a relationship may form between Agatha and Andrew in the future. Wouldn't that be fun to write if it happens? XD ))

Anna-Beth studies the two, a single eyebrow raised slightly. Andrew is surely speaking to her casually, and Agatha was blushing after looking at him. She began to feel mischevious, and glanced out the window, noticing they still weren't too far from the school, and looking back down at her feet, she discovers that she'd left her bag on the bench outside.

"Andrew! Stop, we have to go back, stop, stop, stop!!" she shakes his shoulders and whimpers frantically, causing Andrew to panic slightly and swerve off the road. After pulling to a stop, he whips around and glares at her.

"Anna, geez, what? I could've really hurt us!"

"My bag, I forgot my bag!"

"So what? You want me to go all the way back for a bag? That's just stupid."

"It's the least you could do after this!" she throws the shredded scarf over his shoulder, and stares at him. Guilt coats his face, and he turns forward again, whipping the car back towards the school. The atmosphere is tense and quiet, and they soon pull up outside the school, Andrew's face sad and hurt. "I'll be back soon, I know where I left it." She hops out of the car and goes running for the bench, smirking to herself.

"She always knows exactly what to say," Andrew grumbles, and strokes the scarf on his shoulder before smiling darkly, "she is most definately my sister, tricky little devil."

Anna-Beth finds her bag easily, and sits back on the bench, taking a moment to relax. She really wanted to test and see how well the two would get along, and plus, Andrew could use a little work with other females. With a sigh, she relaxes on the bench and looks around, her mind wandering back to earlier that day, mentally cursing herself for not thinking to leave Charles with a way to get hold of her besides school. Already feeling mischevious, she weighs her options.

I could go to the dorms...no, I'd look like a stalker...I could just leave my number here? No, no, somebody else might find it... she sighs and curls up on the bench, staring up at the sky and the fading sunlight.

The blush was gone when Anna-Beth suddenly went frantic about her bag. After a small argument, Andrew decided to turn around and head back to the school. Once there, Agatha heard him say, "She always knows exactly what to say. She is most definitely my sister, tricky little devil."

The half-Greek girl shrugged. If this was usually how the twins got along, she would have to get used to it quick. It was not that hard for her, though. Agatha dealt with some rather bitter people when volunteering for the Orthodox Church in Athens, and even more bitter folks when news came about involving the political feud Greece is in with Turkey. All the labels and hate speech she heard sort of numbed her to the bitterness of other people.

"Well, it looks like Greece and Turkey all over again, I suppose," she muttered, mostly to herself, but she was loud enough for Andrew to hear.

Andrew turned and looked at the girl Anna-Beth had abandoned in the car. She looked sad, and muttered something about Turkey and Greece, which made him curious.

"What do you mean?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at her, "What's wrong?" Realization washed over his face; she was uncomfortable from his sister and him arguing! "No, no, see, we aren't always like that, Anna and I! We get along really well, and I love her to death, it's just..." he sighs, and stares out the window, "today's been a very stressful day."

Agatha became curious after Andrew's explanation. She had the urge to ask why, but decided against it, thinking it may involve the two boys she saw with Anna-Beth. She was not about to put herself in a situation where she would have to lie. Instead, the half-Greek girl gave a simple nod and said, "I see..."

Eliab was alone in his dorm. He picked up his Bible from his backpack and started reading. This has been quite a day, has it? I mean, it started off rough, but got better with time. That may have been the easy part, though. Ah, just read! After he finished the book of Exodus, the yankie fell asleep.
