Appearance:
Marissa has long blonde curls that cascade down her back to her elbows. Her skin is a soft shade of ivory with no visible scars, and only a dash of pink at her cheeks, making her look like she has a delicate blush. She has a very light, lithe build and a very flexible yet powerful body from tennis. She doesn't look took muscular, in fact you can barley tell that she's been playing tennis for most of her life. Her eyes look like pools of sky rimmed with long dark lashes. Her smile, beauty with the slightest but of haunting pain, can break a mans heart. She's rather small, at a mere 5 feet tall and 100 lbs.

History:
Marissa's mother was a popular cheerleader at 17, and she thought nothing could stop her. Oh boy, was she wrong. She slept with a rich senior after prom and a couple weeks later she found out she was pregnant. Her mother kicked her out, the whole school gave her long looks in the hallways. At the time, Marissa was just about the worst thing to happen to her. After graduation she moved into Marissa's father's house. Marissa's mother, Iris, grew to love her baby. Her father, Cain, remained aloof. When Marissa was born, Iris loved her baby even more. Cain remained aloof. At Marissa's fifth birthday, Iris was so proud. Cain remained aloof. that was when it all fell apart for sweet, papered Marissa Love. There was a car accident. Her mother died. Marissa's mother was her only source of light and joy. Her father Cain was just there. Aloof. Uncaring. But the death of his lover really did hurt Cain Love. He began drinking to deal with the pain.
Cain was a very angry drinker.
Marissa can't even smell beer anymore without feeling sick to her stomach.
At first, her father just stayed in his room all day and night. This was when Marissa took up tennis. Everyone in the school loved her. Her father started coming out of his room, smelling thickly of beer and smoke. At first he didn't even notice his daughter. But when he started to notice her, he saw how much little 7-year-old Marissa looked like her mother. This made him very, very angry. So he hit Marissa. Marissa still hat lots of friends. As time went on, he hit his daughter more and more. She never spoke a word about it to anyone. She still had some friends.
People started to notice bruises on her. Rumors flew around. Sweet little Marissa just kept on smiling. She still had a couple friends. But her father was relentless, every time he saw the slightest hint of his wife's enamoring face in Marissa he would hit her. Break her. She didn't have many friends anymore. Then the 16-year-old Marissa told the word. She sang in the music room when she thought nobody could hear her. The second she turned 18, she was out of there. Her music teacher got her a few gigs, and her music career took off. Her father jumped off a bridge later that year. Nowadays, Marissa has lots of friends. She never lost that smile.
Personality:
Marissa is is a soul that is full of beauty- inside and out. She is very quiet and sweet, always keeping up a cute charm about herself without really meaning to. While she is quite shy and tends to keep to herself, she has a way of lighting up the room when she smiles or laughs. Marissa looks like she'd be very rebellious, but really she's very passive, always playing the little peace-maker. She's the kind of person that can melt the coldest of hearts, making it hard for people to hate her. But that also makes her seem easy to break, like a little kitten. Marissa is very mother-like and accepting, but sometimes she's easy to scare. Sometimes she is a little too open, and gets hurt because of it. She sees the best in people, and doesn't think anyone can really be a 'bad' person. This makes it easy for people to take advantage of her. While she is still very passive, she will give up anything for those she trusts. Even if it means the end of her. Without even meaning to, she can melt the coldest of hearts.
She tends to get attached to the people that she thinks need her the most, and most of the time ends up getting hurt. Despite this, her loving heart knows no bounds. It's very easy to use her, then leave her like nothing happened. But no matter what, she just keeps on smiling. Much to the dismay of most people who know her real past- although not many people know her secrete. Her past she keeps very, very quiet. If you just mention her father, she'll just turn around and walk away from you. She refuses to talk about her past with anyone- she doesn't trust anyone enough. She's scared people will judge her because of what happened to her. At the very least she knows people will look at her differently. And that is like getting a cold, hard slap to the face. Sometimes she still feels like she has to hide the bruises on her arms- even though they healed a long time ago.
