As she is a genie, she has no surname, simply the name she herself chose to go by. In her case, the name she was given was by her third master. And so now, she goes by Elise.

Elise is a rather pretty girl, with subtle, pleasant-to-look-at features, and a constantly unimpressed expression. Medium height, at 5'6'' with a slim and petite build that doesn't look as though it could pack much of a punch if it came to a brawl. Her skin is very fair, and her complexion is clear and unblemished, with a slight, rosy tint to her cheeks. Her hair is is cut short, reaching just to the nape of her slim neck, and falls straight, with stray locks constantly falling askew across her face. Her eyes are an oddly rare colour, a light violet shade, encircled by dark lashes. Her smile is a bright, albeit rare one, with straight teeth and fair lips.

â Mysteries and Puzzles || Elise has an insatiable curiosity. One that has plagued her for years, and she loves seeking out answers to her posed questions. Riddles are also a great way to pass the time when your stuck in a lamp for God-knows.
â Eighties Rock Music || Her fifth master freed her in the eighties, and she was introduced to something quite miraculous: The Likes of Guns N' Roses and Bon Jovi.
â Views || If the landscape is pretty and the view is nice, Elise could sit there for hours, drinking in the sights. Star gazing is one of her favourite things to do, and would do it every night, if she could.
â Learning Something New || In her many years trapped in a lamp, Elise has spent her time picking up all the knowledge she can find. Fast facts, general knowledge, random data. Anything she can get her hands on. Because of this, she is very clever, although not in the typical, academic sense.

â Granting Wishes || Hardly a suitable dislike for a genie to have, nothing irks Elise more than watching her so-called 'masters' in the most stupid and reckless of ways. In fact, she often finds the typically regretful aftermath that ensues these masters' wishes as strangely satisfying to witness.
â Ignorance || She witnessed this trait in many of her past masters, who spent their wishes in the most foolish of ways, without thinking of the consequences.
â Anything To Do With WWII || It brings up bad memories she'd rather keep in the dark.
â Cruelty || She might be no angel herself, but Elise absolutely loathes those that hurt and bully for personal enjoyment.
â Money || As someone who doesn't use it, for obvious reasons, she has only witnessed how money and fortune can corrupt and destroy. Not to mention
it is one of the things her wishers most often wish for.
â Being Bored || Feeling aimless might work for some people, but for Elise, it's torture.

â Sarcasm || Elise is always firing sarcastic jabs at her masters, her cynical tone is commonplace and her snark often leaves the discovers of her lamp flustered and infuriated.
â Drumming Her Fingers || She often does this when waiting for her masters to request their wishes.
â Talking Quickly || When stressed out, her words tend to come out rapid fire.
â Draw Spirals On Her Palm || When deep in thought, Elise often absent-mindedly twirls her fingernail around her palm, drawing spirals.

â Being Trapped || Again, as a genie, she has little choice in this matter, but this is more of a fear than a typical thing she has distaste for. Decades of captivity, sometimes with years of going unseen and locked away, has left her extremely hateful of her pretty, lamp prison. Now, even when out in the open thanks to a master, part of her is always dreading the moment that she'll get locked up again.
â Dying || Do genies die? Elise has yet to find out. But it terrifies her, nonetheless.
â Gunfire || Due to past experiences, the sound of gunfire leaves Elise traumatized and shuddering.

Elise is a cynical and jaded creature. Centuries of witnessing human idiocy had, quite understandably, caused her to lose faith in it all. Every time she sees another master let his greed get the better of him, or wish without thinking, she finds herself wondering 'This? This is the dominant race on the planet? Seriously?'
She is sharp-tongued, and incredibly blunt, often speaking the truth without regarding the emotion of the person these words are directed to. She is sarcastic, having collected quite the arsenal of snarky comments and verbal barbs over the years. That being said, she isn't cruel or hateful, she simply has had more time to observe the faults in humanity than she has had to learn about human emotion, affection and whatnot. She is very intelligent, but lacks tact, and is hardly charismatic. She is stubborn and strong-willed, and hates being a genie, trapped as someone whose sole duty is to obey and bestow, rather than lead and earn. She is curious, and when she is especially intrigued by something, her icy exterior tends to melt slightly, revealing a more sunny and adventurous disposition.

H I S T O R Y
Elise can't remember her life before she became a genie. Very few genies retain memories of their previous life, and Elise doesn't envy the ones that do. To remember everything might help to answer those pesky, nagging questions that constantly plague her mind. Where did I come from? Why am I here? Was I stolen? Kidnapped? Sold? But then she'd also learn the rest. If she was sold, she'd learn that she wasn't loved enough to be worth keeping hold of. If she was stolen, then she would live with the regret of knowing that if she'd been more careful, she might not be here. Either way, it's far too depressing. She's fine not knowing. She thinks. It really is annoying though, isn't it? Urgh.
She's had four masters so far, and she loathed each and every one of them. Well, perhaps not all of them. But three.
The first was in London, England, and a man named Marcus Barton, a butler who worked for a wealthy, aristocratic family known as the Blackmoores. Marcus had inherited only a dusty old lamp from his great aunt, and was extremely angry about it all. Until he discovered Elise, that is. At that point, she was nameless, just 'genie', and she cited the typical phrase, told him the rules, and waited on his wishes. And what did he wish for? His first wish was for wealth. Granted. A room of gold, with glittering trinkets and bills galore.
But as was Elise's nasty habit, the wish backfired, and it turned out that all this money had come from somewhere: The safe of a particularly wealthy lord. As Marcus spent his fortune without a care, people got suspicious, and uncovered his trove, including the lamp. He didn't get to make his last two wishes, he was hung for theft.
The second one is the one that Elise knows she'll always remember, but wishes she wouldn't. Gerhard Schultz, a soldier in the German army. Kind and gentle, not built for the war. It was his nineteenth birthday when he discovered a lamp among the bombed wreckage of a Polish village. He discovered the genie that night, when he was polishing it. Gerhard wasn't like the others. When asked for what he wanted, Gerhard didn't want fortune, or fame. In fact, after she spoke her typical genie lines, the first thing he did wasn't demand a wish, but introduce himself. "And you?" When Elise told him she didn't have a name, he was horrified. "No name? Then what do people put on your letters?!" Elise had laughed at that, and Gerhard had asked, "If that's the case, may I suggest something?"
Elise and Gerhard were together three months. Gerhard's first wish had been to end the war. Too big.
With his only wish ungrantable, Gerhard decided, "When we get to somewhere safe, I'll free you. Then, when the war is over, I'll find you." They made the promise.
However, it was a short-lived joy, when Gerhard was shot dead in battle, a two days march from the 'safe' spot.
The third master was a girl named Abigail Crawford, spoiled and petty. She was engaged to a rich man named Jonathon Gale, but was in love with Jonathon's illegitimate brother, Elijah. She told Elijah of what she had discovered, and he urged her to order the genie to kill Jonathon. When Abigail argued that such a wish went against the rules, he convinced her to wish for untraceable poison instead. She did, and gave it to him. Elijah promptly killed Jonathon and his father, as to be the only surviving heir to the fortune. Then he married another woman, leaving Abigail in the dust.
Wrought with rage and sorrow, Abigail threw the lamp into the sea, wanting it to sink and never be seen again.
However, it instead found its way to the USA, and into the hands of Aaron Walker, an aspiring guitarist in a garage band. When he freed Elise, he introduced her to the 'greatest music of all time', as well as 'the glory that is marijuana'. The former Elise adored. The latter... not so much. But after granting his band fame (in a one hit wonder that lasted little over a few months), he lost the lamp in an alley brawl, and his mugger sold it on eBay to an antique shop in Japan.
And voila. Here she is.
