Someday you'll die, and that is a shame
But somewhere in the between was a life of which we all dream
And nothing and no one will ever take that away」

Jun is noticeable for her height, which is somewhat high for a purely Japanese girl. As a child she was often teased for her likeness to a giraffe, for even when young her arms and legs seemed too long for the rest of her body, giving her the appearance of an awkward and gangling giraffe. Since then she has come to grow into her limbs, and her too-large hands and feet, but she is still tall and slender. Along with her height and long limbs, she has a rather unimpressive body, for the most point just straight up and down. She doesn't mind, believing that curves would impede her movement.
Body aside, Jun is a girl who usually of varying styles. She prefers her hair up and out of her face, though bangs often ruin this. She usually wears plain t-shirts and shorts for her day to day life. All in all, she would consider herself rather boring, although she thinks her ears poke out too much and has a slight insecurity about it. She wears contacts usually, but might be seen with glasses if she's running late or just at home.

● Track & Field || Jun started on her school's track team in middle school, and is currently her school's Pole Vault record holder. She loves running-- she calls it the closest thing to flying a human has.
● Birds || Cats, dogs, and other such animals don't interest Jun at all. But she can sit for hours watching birds flit about building a nest, or listening to them call out to each other. She's gotten pretty good at identifying birds, as well.
● Tea || Specifically hot tea, and only herbal. Jun hates the taste of black tea, same with coffee, but a steaming hot cup of jasmine tea or pomegranate is her favorite way to end and start the day.
● Nail Art || In most ways, Jun doesn't pay too much attention to little things appearance-wise. But she loves to look at nails with tiny, intricate designs. Sadly, she doesn't have a steady enough hand to paint it herself, something which has caused some disappointment and furious hand scrubbing.
● Aikido || Jun's elder brothers were both captains of the Aikido team before graduating. She is hardly at their level, but enjoys the sport and grew up fighting her brothers.
D I S L I K E S
● Confrontation || As a general rule, Jun shies away from confrontation, preferring to defer her own opinion rather than start an argument with something. Arguments and conflict make her nervous- she far prefers peace, even on a fragile string.
● Math || Jun is known for doing very poorly in classes that require calculations. The numbers just don't process for her, and she always seems to forget formulas no matter how much she studied. The young woman has pretty much given up in math.
● Fiction || Although she will pour over reference books and field guides to birds and medicine, Jun cannot focus on fiction. She has convinced herself that she lacks the imagination for it.
● Off Season || The island can seem too empty during off season, and Jun, who is social in her own sort of way, dislikes this. Besides, on-season means that the island springs to life, with new temporary shops, increased income, and a sort of festive air even when there are no holidays being celebrated.
● Layers of Clothing || It's so frequently warm in Yokokawa, and Jun has never really lived elsewhere, so she prefers to keep it as light weight as possible, and becomes uncomfortable in clothing heavier than two thin layers. Even when it is cold out she will stubbornly wear clothing meant for a slightly breezy spring day.

Q U I R K S
● Mouth || Jun is constantly being called a fish by her mother because she tends to drop her mouth open when thinking, giving her a sort of dumb look. She's often being warned about catching flies
● Trees || As if by some desire to be closer to the sky, Jun has a thing for climbing trees. More specifically, she has a thing for climbing up into trees and just dozing off. It's weird because that really shouldn't be comfortable, but she gives no indication of discomfort.
● Hair || Regardless of weather, season, or occasion, Jun's hair will always be tied up in some capacity. The only ones who see it down are her family in the morning and before bed. There is no deeper meaning, she just prefers it up.
● T-Shirts || Jun usually wears T-shirts, and they're mostly somewhat interesting. Some are too small from when she was younger, with silly graphics of cartoon characters. Most of them have some sort of childish graphic, because she thinks they are cute.
● Skinship || One of four siblings, and the only girl, Jun grew up wrestling and horsing around. She doesn't have the sense of a personal bubble that she ought to, and often will casually put arms around friends or come up behind them and tickle them without warning.
F E A R S
● Not Graduating || Because of her poor math marks, Jun often has to stay back for tutoring and supplementary classes. She has a fear that her difficulties will prevent her from graduating, although she does reasonably well in other subjects. She acts, for the most part, as though she isn't concerned, but she most certainly is.
● Being Buried Alive || For someone so fond of the open sky and free space, the idea of being trapped underground is terrifying. In fact, Jun doesn't even much like basements, and refuses to step foot in a subway of any sort.
● Fall outs || When Jun was younger she had a large falling out with a best friend, resulting in her being rather alone for the rest of the school year, and since then she has been terrified of being isolated and getting into serious arguments. This is why she is so willing to defer to others in disagreements.

Jun is, without a doubt, not the sort of lethargic person who may be found simply wasting her time. Well, in some of her pursuits her parents may accuse her of wasting her time, of course, but she seems to be in a constant state of activity. Even when she falls asleep in trees, having perhaps worn herself out, the girl moves constantly. The girl always seems prepared for a sudden twist in the road, and meets activities with an eagerness that demonstrates her love for fun and life. She is very much an optimistic, outgoing sort of person in this respect. She makes friends quickly through sheer genuine interest in the wellbeing of others, and is able to keep up with even the quickest of paces with a sort of spring in her step. She is the friend who hates to be cooped up inside, and cannot learn without putting her hands on something. It is likely this energy that allows her to change direction so easily. She may determined on one plan, but a suggestion can set her off in an entirely new direction. She is very good at going along with what comes at her, although this positive is balanced by the fact that she cannot plan to save her life and has difficulty thinking ahead. One might propose an adventure, and she'll be ready to leave within a few moments, or might start some goofy scheme and she'll easy go along with it. Lead, and Jojo will follow with little hesitation. This is partially also due to her conconfrontational personality. She is afraid of driving people away or angering them by disagreeing, and thus goes along with things even when they don't fit what she had wanted to do. She's bad at calling people out when they are wrong, and thus is partially to blame when things go awry. She may be outgoing and cheerful typically, but she has difficulty expressing her opinions if they conflict with those of others. In many way, she is a follower to everyone but herself. If given a position of control, she will quickly slip the role off to anyone who expresses desire for it, not trusting herself to not screw everything up. The girl does tend to be a bit hard on herself, thinking herself an idiot for doing poorly in math, a dolt for letting someone walk over her but also an ass if she speaks up. Jun has little way of winning in her own eyes, and thus tries not to think too much about her role in life, instead focusing on the sky and friends and her beloved island. She'd much rather tell goofy jokes and watch birds fly around than deal with her problems. She'd rather make silly faces and cheer others up, for she knows it sucks to beat yourself up, so she tries to prevent others from doing it, not realizing the irony in this. Still, she has time to grow-- if she'll allow herself to.

H I S T O R Y
As far as lives go, Jun has had a rather happy one. Her parents are natives to Yokokawa, as were their parents, and thus her family seems to have deep roots in the community. There is scarcely a face Jun does not recognize, or a person who has not tasted one of her mother's freshly baked delicacies. Luckily, two sons prepared the Uenos for their energetic daughter, who grew up being watched over by her elder brothers. Watched over, of course, meaning wrestling with, hiding from, and chasing after. She had a cheerful childhood, marred perhaps by her behavioral problems in elementary school. She had difficulty sitting still or learning via lecture, and it certainly showed. The girl tried to compensate for her difficulty learning by being the best in PE, and having a father who ran miles a day, as his father had before him, didn't hurt. While she may have difficulties in the classroom, when Jun ran she was flying, and everyone else in the class could see it. As she grew older she learned to behave better in school, although she still despises math class and has resigned to calling herself an idiot for her struggles, and others caught up with her running wise due to a year or two where she was made to sit inside and study. Still, she is the energetic, athletic little girl who loves to wander off on her own adventures, and whose mind tends to wander off at school. She's not quite as bold as she used to be socially, becoming a lot less confrontational from a middle school fall out and being told to quiet down from teachers, but the girl is still happy, for the most part.
Her eldest brother is in University in Japan at the moment, and her second elder brother will be graduating very soon. This will leave her to fill the role her brothers did for her, for her younger brother. Of course, Hideo is a bit more reserved and sarcastic than any of the other Ueno sibling are, but he and Jun will often make bets with each other over who will do better in their respective sports, or in some competition or another. Jun was out to buy snacks after losing one such competition (one of aim, which she was bound to lose against her pitcher brother) when she came across a curious little shop that was, surprisingly, unfamiliar to the girl. Curiosity won over and she entered, only to leave with a dusty old lava lamp and a strange sense of anticipation.
