        the angels come too late,
feathers crawling with mites and eyes flat
as snakes'. The smell of ozone lingers
in their skin, and glory glory glory
        sounds like a punchline.

They promise altars and arks; the hollow earth,
the ascending light. You will be gold, and gold again.

You are not surprised when their throats
are torn open, revealed to be hollow.

                WHAT IS SHE?

                -
                -
Circe is a weapon gifted by Sae to Esther; permanently attached to his flesh. Remove his clothing and purple thin like veins will be revealed branching out toward his heart joining him and Circe together. Circe takes the appearance of an orb rooted in the middle of Esther's chest. When dormant she's a dark purple color, but once active Circe glimmers, brightening up like a purple dusk sky with tiny stars gently swimming around the inside. Those tiny stars are Esther's internal energy that Circe has been absorbing and storing from his body. Circe feeds off of Esther's internal energy/life force and in exchange grants him two items.

                WHAT CAN SHE DO?
                II. . . . .
                -
Using the stored internal energy inside Circe, Esther is able to utilize it in two ways. One way is by shaping the energy into large angelic white wings, granting him the ability of flight. The second usage is Esther can form the energy into a longbow and infinite supply of arrows. Once fired the arrows generate the same heat as a star and shine as intensely. People often times confuse them for actual stars until they pierce them.

                WHAT IS HER COST?
                III. . . . .
                -
                -
                -
Esther is converting his internal energy into something tangible and requires a large quantity of energy and stamina. He assuredly does possess such a supply however it isn't infinite. It can run out and the consequences can range from intense headaches to death, due to overexertion. His wings cost less energy than the longbow and arrows. Esther's greatest weakness is Circe, herself. She is connected to his heart therefore if Circe is ever destroyed Esther can die, and if he survives it won't be for long as his body has become entirely dependent on Circe distributing and properly managing the energy inside him; he can't live without her. Circe does have a self-heal function but for cracks and small breaks; this function requires a downtime of 12 hours.

For Esther, the Cosmos is a void filled with dull colors and exaggerations; his own bitter memories, which permeate his subconscious, have turned similar to grim fairytales. Emotions once prominent have lost their luster; replaced by a cruel indifference. However, small sparks surface, if to announce his former selfs' presence. To say that he still feels, something. Do not cling to false hope, he's learned, understanding there are simply outcomes in the world no matter how strongly you desire will make no difference, so why to waste energy. Ever so, Esther, even though he isn't one for sentimental feelings or lingering attachments, he does hold dear a few remnants of his former self, a foolish reminder of a time before.

Esther possesses an unnerving calmness about him that comes from years of practice. His past experiences granting him a sense of control in most chaotic situations. Not easily fazed; able to endure the most grueling of torture with pursed lips and lightly quivering eyes. While appreciating the need for swift reactions to situations, Esther is an individual who values the art of observation, comprehending your opponent is the best weapon to win against them. Not a fan of trickery or deception, he isn't above it and will use whatever underhanded methods he must to defend himself or others. Always willing and fully capable of committing truly abhorrent and inhumane acts without remorse or hesitation. He regards individuals as capable of understanding the results of facing him come with dire consequences. Nevertheless, Esther is not without reason. Not particularly drawn to violence, he will only attack when provoked.

Though he lacks concern for others, in his own way, Esther is remarkably loyal. Every declaration out of his mouth, even in anger, is carefully calculated; weighed in all its grandeur. Bound by his word, never uttering a thoughtless promise or agreement from his tongue. He will not accept transactions where he can not profit and won't be tied down unless desired. This loyalty allows him to wholly dedicate himself to protecting Sae, which numerous claim is a deal he gains nothing from of equal value. Yet, Esther finds pleasure drowning himself in the countless mountains of paperwork, dreary meetings that so many detest, and bone-aching training. The constant chaos allows him to tune out his demons and the whispers of the past. Therefore, protecting the Queen, Sae, is a permanent devotion to Esther. This sounds sumptuous even gallant but for Esther, it isn't so profound. He's old, even for his race, and he has seen the cruelty of life and the venom of people. This loyalty is what allows him to feel the tiniest amount of ease, enabling him to hide behind the artificial facade of civility and sanity.

esther has a huge sweet tooth to the point some days his diet only consists of sugar | the cuff earring on his left earlobe belonged to his late wife, and when alone you can catch him gently rubbing on it | he's half-elf so he has slightly pointed ears, covered by his hair, that twitch when he's amused by something | when he can't sleep, which is always, he'll start training outside until he exhausts himself | hates warm body temperatures, finds them disgusting | at times esther will slightly cut his skin or burn a small part of his flesh simply to reassure himself he still feels the pain, sometimes he doesn't. | he doesn't smile often and when he does it is never a good sign.

      H I S T O R Y
      τραγῳδία

A profound kindness never existed in the eyes of this scarred man. Flesh and heart were ripped from the moment he exited the womb. Born to a whore and a father, unknown, he was unwanted yet as a sick act of mercy, she kept the child. Raised him in the twisted cruelty she called love, and to her, it was love. A cruel ritual—beatings, burns, torture, invariably ending with the lamented repentance— a raw repetition that gnawed at the soul. Empty promises of a better life, of a gentler touch, never to be fulfilled. Lost to deaf ears of a child's outcry. At five, the torment worsened. The woman, filled to the brim with lovely promises from men, gave her son as collateral, a simple price for the treasures awaiting her. The ending always the same, the mother abandoned and Esther—throat ripped with the taste of iron and broken bones—unheard. Each unhopeful attempt of salvation, lost, chipped a piece of Esther's soul, leaving cracks to be filled and soon holes formed in their places. The boy's only comfort, a mother who cuddled him with stained promises and men shredding into his body. At eleven, Esther grew smarter; this childlike reliance and vulnerability wasn't an option. Thus, he closed himself off. Broke the keys. Barred the doors. Torched the gates and watched the flames slowly burn. He dawned a mask; melting it to his flesh, no longer feeling the pain, and molded it to his liking. The world had broken him, but he broke the rest before they could finish. Then came age twelve, and for the first time in all of Esther's twelves years of suffering, he welcomed blood-soaked hands; realized the importance of sacrifices for the betterment of oneself. A cruel ideology proved true. Tested on the very person who taught it to him, his mother. In leaving her blood-soaked body and that of the men behind, he picked up his battered self and ran.

Months turned into years and the boy of twelve became a man of twenty. Blood now covering more than his hand, he had done many inhumane things to survive, but each necessary. Carving a name for himself in the underworld of Caelestis, he became the guard of a drug lord, Noir, the producer of Stardust—a horrid star-shaped herb granting the user an extended life-line in exchange for their sanity. Protecting Noir was a lucrative job which Esther found little pleasure in, yet for Esther, he believed he would find nothing better in life until she appeared. Ines, a woman with lightly scarred brown skin and long dark hair that flowed with the wind. Brash and spontaneous with a laugh that filled a tired soul. Esther needed to stay away, she was a mistake he mustn't make but he did. He left the underworld and they wedded in secret, escaping to a remote part of Caelestis where Noir couldn't reach. For five long years, Esther experienced his first taste of happiness, with Ines. A time where even the nightmares no longer clawed at his broken soul, and that happiness seemed to last for a lifetime, but tragedy was a constant company of Esther. At 25, tragedy caught him. Living in a small cottage, Esther had left to go to work, when he returned he had found Ines dead. Tortured and overdosed with Stardust. Like with every tragedy, you can imagine the ending, Esther locates Noir and in a rage of sadistic rage rips him apart. Noir left Esther with nothing and broken he found an alleyway to wither away in. That is when she arrived, Esther's grim reaper, the Queen of Caelestis, Sae. A twist of fate she took him in and gave him another purpose. A single goal that not even she remembers, but he gladly holds onto as his duty.

So begins...
