"No." she said sternly and broke into a run trying to get away from the world. As she ran soon it occurred to her that the school probably still had clubs going on and she sighed. "Oh well. no point now." Seeing no point in going anywhere else she headed home and threw her bag on the floor of her's and her brothers apartment.
"What are you doing home so early?" he demanded and she shrugged.
"Zombie outbreak at school. No reason to stay there. Besides i wanted to take a shower." she said and left without hearing his response. His heart still pumping in her ears she turned the water on scalding hot and jumped in, unsurprised that it had no effect. With terror eluding her she refrained from crying out in anger and disbelief as she sat on the floor of the shower and tried to scrub away the smell wondering how she would face Molly tomorrow with their secret hanging over them.

Then she let out the breath she had been holding. "I want your instinct," she said wistfully, " You just always know what to do." But then she realized what had just happened. "But how could you do that?!? You just condemned that man to the same torturous life we have! I could never do that to someone." She said that now, but inside she knew that she would. "You know what I'm most afraid of?" She asked rhetorically, "I'm afraid that I will forget what I used to be." She shook her head sadly. "We can't let ourselves do that. We have to remember that we are human." She pounded her fist into her palm after each sentence, as if the act were a punctuation mark. "Human heart. Human mind. It reminds me of something my mother used to say to me. It's from the Bible: 'For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.'" Molly took a moment to reflect. "I think it applies to us now more than ever. We can't forget it." Then she sighed. "Okay, give me the shirt. It wouldn't do us any good to get caught now."

Within 15 minutes she was back. The other girl had cleaned up the blood. "Shall we start?" Kokoro said after washing her hands. It was like Kokoro had a different personality. It seemed almost as if she looked down on humans now. Kokoro turned on music and she and the girl started to make graceful movements. Sometime Kokoro slipped and landing on the ground, her head fell off. The one girl held her hand in front of her mouth avoiding to scream. Kokoros body got up and picked up the head. She then somehow reattached it and said: "I dont think this has happened to you to yet. I mean with the head being lopped off. It obviously works with our limbs too. They can come off and be reconnected easily and they will still move when severed. I found out this morning when I fell out of bed and my arm came off. It is even painless."

When her head fell off, Molly tried not to scream, then managed to say, "Yes, my foot came off this morning when I was trying to put my shoes on." She held up her foot to show Ms. Suginami the seam-looking line on her ankle. It was extremely faint, but it was there. "I didn't know your - our heads could come off, though."

Molly fell against a table as the ground shook violently. There were crashing sounds as things in other rooms fell to the ground. She was terrified, but at the same time she was amazed and oddly pleased. This earthquake was just like what it felt like when her mind attacked her. And now everyone was feeling that way. Not just Molly in her own head, but everyone in the room. Serves them right. she thought maliciously. Finally they all know! They have to feel it now whether they like it or not. Eat it, ignorant jerks! EAT IT! This is what it's like! YEESSSS! her thoughts were confused and jumbled, but they somehow satisfied her. She didn't actually hate people who didn't have her mental condition, but sometimes she felt like she did. She hid under the table and waited for it to end. She was kind of disappointed when it did. She emerged from under the table shaken, but smiling.
"6.9??" she said when she heard the news. "I might want to take you up on that offer. I should check on my host family, though." Then she ran out the door. She stepped over overturned tables and lamps and such, and finally emerged into the sunlight outside. She took a deep breath. Then she ran all the way to her host family's house. She found Hira standing next to the rubble of her house. "Oh, my gosh, what happened?" Molly asked as she sprinted up to Hira's side, a little out of breath. Hira was trying not to cry.
"The earthquake..." she said, her voice choked. "I got here as fast as I could, but my house is..." she gestured at the wreckage, a tear sliding down her face.
"Hey. It'll be okay. I'll call the paramedics-" but then she stopped. They would be delayed by four days. "Nevermind. Let's try to find your parents."
"My father is at work."
"Let's find your mother, then." Molly ran into the rubble, looking manically for the woman. An hour of searching yielded horrible results. Molly found her crushed under piece of the ceiling, with dust all over her. Her blood was everywhere. "No..." Molly breathed. She couldn't believe it. This was awful. She reached up to cover her face with her hands, but she couldn't stop staring at the dead woman. "Hira," she called weakly, "I found her..."
Hira ran frantically over, and then collapsed in tears. She bent over the body, crying out in Japanese occasionally.
Molly looked around desperately. "What do we do?" There was no one to help them. No one they could call, no one they could contact at all. "HELP!" Molly screamed. "Somebody!!" But there was no answer. There were some similar wails from other houses, but nothing else. Molly eventually just knelt down and cried with Hira. There was nothing she could do. the same powerless rage she had felt that morning filled her again. The situation was too much, and soon her vision blurred. Black crept out along the edge of her vision, and then she passed out.

Kokoro then went into her room and put a fresh set of clothes on. She put a pair of black pants on and a grey halter top. Two suspenders from the pants hung on her shoulders. She then headed out noticing a couple houses had suffered from severe damage. At one house that had collapsed, she noticed Molly. Suddenly Molly collapsed. Kokoro hurried out of her house and rushed to Molly. "Molly! Wake up!" Kokoro said as she tapped her cheek.

"No..." Molly murmured, still unconcious, "I wish I could, but it's not fun anymore... I don't want to wake up and see them. It's too hard..."
Hira turned and looked at Kokoro. "Molly!" She exclaimed and ran over to the two. When Molly didn't respond to the teachers calls, Hira looked up into the teacher's face, tears staining Hira's face. "You have to help. My mother..." The younger girl glanced back at the dead body. "She was killed... And now Molly's gone, and you have to help me."
