Talos are complex and, frankly, alien organisms with a completely different bodily structure than the typical fauna of this world. First off, they have an artificial outer shell, or Exoskeleton, designed for their role within their societal system, which, at first glance may resemble a hivemind, or colony of ants. The difference is, all Talos are sentient and capable of both independent and networked thought, as well as having a hierarchical system.
At the bottom are what are commonly referred to as Proletariats, these have rather basic forms, sometimes no bigger than a house cat to small child, with built-in tools for basic grunt labor, such as maintenance of minor damages to the infrastructure. Comprehension level tends to limit itself to duties, tending to void out distractions. They tend to be of a gray color, with a glimmer of light from their energized insides and eyes. They have, however, been known to become aggressive when their duties are impeded upon repeatedly.
The step up from this is the Artisan rank. They are more complex in form, resembling a higher creature, tall and physically able, they handle both demolition and construction with amazing efficiency. They tend to be dull colored, gray, just like the Proletariats, but have a larger array of tools built into their beings and a more complex set of functions and versatility. They communicate, as well, but tend to be very to-the-point.
Up from these are the Architects, representing one of the highest working order of the common Talos, they have distinctive ornate exoskeletons, ornate with very fine details applied for recognition and more delicate functions. They represent the planners, the thinkers, the minds behind construction operations and designating and designing the first two classes of Talos. Sometimes during a construction project, an Architect will be seen standing back and weaving projections in the air for the Artisans to follow.
Centurions are the personal armed forces of Deus Mammonas, often seen guarding him, rarely seen patrolling. They are among the heaviest class, and are incredibly daunting with their massive armored bodies and weapons made of solidified energy. When seen in battle, they too have a form of ranged magic that projects a burst of light that explodes on impact, as well as some form of comet-like swarm, akin to guided rockets. Variations exist, however.
Then there are Nosos, also known as Deviants, Talos who have, for one reason or another, broke from their duties and now act outside the more structured behaviors of a typical Talos. This ranges from behavior that is curious and questioning, to extremes of violence, obsessions, and derangement. In the case of Orpheus, he took up a fixation on music.
All Talos have a body composed of layered parts, the outward most is an outer shell made of some pliable material, varying in toughness. This outer shell is constructed with magic, giving it a smooth, seamless, and organic quality. Inside from this is some kind of ligaments and sinew that aids in attaching the exoskeleton to the inner body. The inner body varies in shape and size, but consists of a kind of soft skin, keeping in their gelatinous glowing insides, or Ichor, which represents the true essence of their being.
Talos Ichor is considered organic, or at least organic to the Talos, being literally a living essence refined into a liquid, or, more simply, Aether, or magic, made into goo. It is, even more simply put, their blood. When exposed to air, ichor will slowly dissolve as its structure destabilizes outside of its owner's body, and like blood, it will coagulate around a wound in an effort to prevent the Talos from bleeding out. Despite their advanced bodies, Talos can suffer from bloodloss just like any other organism.
