Hello. I'm TheJesusParadigm, and I was looking to get back into roleplaying and noticed this one. I've read the rules (a tad bit obviously, since I'm here introducing myself), and I'm really looking forward to this one as I've wanted to find a Pokemon role-play for quite a bit.

Is there a chance that the International Police is a thing? It's the organization that Looker is in, and I was thinking of making my character an agent of it, going undercover to investigate (and only investigate, he's just one guy) Team Rocket.

I wasn't planning on having such a thing as part of the RP, but since you brought it up I don't see a reason to deny its existence. The only thing I would stipulate is the following:

Because the Pokémon League is a global governmental body in this RP's lore, the International Police would be part of and thus a subordinate of the League's primary lawmaking and law enforcement branch. As a result, the League has sway over his assignments and tasks if need be.

Normally the agency is free to operate on its own without much fanfare, and the League trusts the IP to do their jobs. But if the League decides that something has come up which must be considered a priority, your character, and all others in the IP's employ, will be obligated to drop whatever they were doing previously and switch to the priority task. Once it's complete, they can return to their previous tasks.

This will create a bit of added drama for your character since the League's priorities will not always align with his own. He may consider what he's doing more important, and insubordination is frowned upon though not severely punished. The worst he gets for insubordination (even repeat offenses so long as his investigative record prove his usefulness) is a tongue lashing, a minor cut in pay, and (at his superior's discretion) a mandatory vacation in which he's not allowed to work for a set period of time (usually a week).

Sound fair?

Heyo! Flip here! I do a lot of Pokemon RP in the Multiverse and would like a change in pace from the typical format I hold when it comes to RPing in the Pokemon Universe. Maybe I'll attain a little inspiration from the more realistic approach. I like the concept and am all about this RP.

I did give a glance to the lore page and the SUUUUPER in-depth PokeDex entries and will likely continue to utilize these information points as I go along. But I like the amount of love and work put into this. I would love to join. :D

So how would the Gym battles work in regards to structure? Is there a natural progression like in the game where each Gym Leader uses a Pokemon of similar strength to your Pokemon with each passing gym battle? If that's the case, then is there one starting point for all trainers on the journey or can they start at any gym? Or is it some entirely different system?

Good questions.

Gym Leaders Battles of each region are structured in accordance with challenger experience.

Each Gym Leader has four teams with which they battle challengers with, and each Gym Leader also has a Pokédex which communicates with your own before the match to determine when you received your Pokémon Trainer's License so they may choose the most appropriate team for your given experience level:

* Beginner Team - used against challengers with less than 1 year's experience

* Intermediate Team - used against challengers with between 1.5-3 years experience

* Advanced Team - used against challengers with 3.5+ years experience

* Master Team - This team is their true pride and joy with which they challenge only the most veteran trainers who have competed in such competitive scenes as the Pokémon League competition, Pokémon Olympics, etc.

The Elite Four of each region is the same, save they only have two teams. One for those with less than 5 years experience, one for those with more than five year's experience which is their true team.

There is no set starting point for Trainers. They may receive their first Pokémon from whichever Pokémon Professor presides over their region and start their life as a Trainer from there.

In order to take the Gym Leader's Challenge, the Trainers must register at any local Pokémon Center for the challenge which is a process that takes all but ten minutes to complete. You fill out and sign three forms and the local police record via video and audio your acceptance of the Pokémon League Trainer Battle Rules and the Code of Conduct befitting all challenging Trainers for their records. This way if you ever violate the rules or Code of Conduct, they have the proof to use against you and can forward it to the Pokémon League so they may choose the appropriate punishment.

As for the Rules and Code of Conduct, they are as follows:

Pokémon League Trainer Battle Rules:

1) Official Pokémon League Battles between opposing Trainers are agreed to before the match begins.

- Any Trainer discovered forcing a battle against an unwilling opponent is subject to a monetary penalty to their Pokémon League Trainer's account (the total amount is at the discretion of the Pokémon League, though it is usually in the neighborhood of $5,000) as well as facing the temporary suspension of their Pokémon Trainer's License based on the number of accusations and known infractions.

2) Official Pokémon League Battles are fought turn-by-turn and are recorded by the Pokédex.

- Any Trainer discovered to launch more than one attack at a time will instantly forfeit the match and the Pokédex will send an electronic signal to recall any free roaming Pokémon of the offending Trainer's to the Poké Balls and lock them for a period of six hours while the Pokédex sends a report of the infraction to the League. Punishment for violation of this rule generally results in a $500 fine and a single black mark on your Pokémon Trainer's Account record. Three black marks and you are fined $50,000 to your account. Five black marks results in termination of your Pokémon League Trainer's account and the termination of your Pokémon Trainer's License.

3) Official Pokémon League Battles dedicate fixed amounts of reward money to both competitors.

- Any Trainers discovered gambling on the outcome of their match or attempting to fix the outcome via any means outside of fair play will face criminal charges including the potential termination of their Pokémon League Trainer's account and License.

Pokémon League Code of Conduct

1) Pokémon Trainers will treat one another with respect.

- The Pokédex continues recording audio for a period of two minutes after the battle has ended. That audio is streamed live to the Pokémon League.

- Trainers found guilty of harassing or belittling their opponents will face a penalty of zero reward money for the match as well as a black mark on their record for poor sportsmanship and conduct.

2) Fair Play.

- Any Trainers taking advantage of their higher experience and advanced Pokémon against younger or newcomer Trainers for any reasons, including profit or bragging rights for how many victories they have, will face a financial penalty of $10,000 and face suspension of their Pokémon League Trainer's License.

Another question. How does obtaining these starters for trainers to use work? I know Blaze is a rather special case, but what is the normal streamline process. Do they have designated catchers who go out in the wild and catch Pokemon to bring back to the League until they are ready to be handed off or are they bred in captivity and domesticated?

Pokémon Professors have aides who's job it is to catch wild Pokémon for taming and domestication for new Trainers, yes.

The Pokémon which are captured are done so via request. Once a request for a Pokémon is made, the aides either go themselves or hire specialist catchers to obtain them (this is usually the case when it's a rarer species or one which lives in a harsher environment than the aid is prepared to deal with).

Once captured, the Pokémon is domesticated and acclimated to human interaction as well as socialized with other Pokémon to ensure maximum tolerance and obedience before being delivered to their new Trainer. This process of domestication and acclimation to human interaction usually takes between 8 months to 1 year.

Requests for starter Pokémon are generally made with the expectation that it will be between 1 and 2 years before the Pokémon is ready for you to pick up. The Pokémon Professor in your region gives you a progress report once every month to keep you in the loop about what's happening during this time.

Once they're ready, you can come in and pick them up (providing you are a Licensed Pokémon Trainer).

What about Pokemon Centers? How do they function in relation to the entire world. Are they a free service (like a hospital) utilized to heal Pokemon or does it cost money to do so? I can safely imagine it's open 24/7, but what kind of services do they provide?

Good questions.

Pokémon Centers are a free service, paid for by the good people's tax dollars.

They provide a multitude of services which include the following:

* Pokémon Rest/Recuperation services

* Trainer Rest Spots (indoor areas dedicated to Trainers waiting on their Pokémon or who just need a nap (there are beds for that purpose))

* Pokémon Housing (there is no PC system as the Poké Ball can't be digitized). Basically a big chunk of the Center is a Poké Ball storage facility

* Pokémon Training (this is a service that comes with a charge and is generally avoided by most who wish to train their Pokémon themselves, but the Centers do have professional staff who are expert Trainers in their own right to raise and train your Pokémon while you're away)

* Pokémon Breeding Spotters (basically a Breeding scout who will contact local and regional Breeders to see if there is a match for your Pokémon, and if there is they give you the Breeder's contact info and location so you may visit them for their services)

* Telecommunication (telephones and computers for email so you can contact friends and family elsewhere in the world)

As well there's one more thing I believe I forgot to mention (or didn't cover in detail) that I thought would pop up sooner or later: How many Pokémon can you carry at a time?

The answer is "as many as you can hold in your pack before it bursts apart at the seams". The Pokémon League stipulates that competitive Pokémon Trainers (such as those taking the Gym Leader's Challenge) must limit their "party Pokémon" (or those they use for battling) to no more than six members at a time. However that Trainer can still carry as many Pokémon as they are able to on their person.

Each member of the Party must be registered to the Pokédex so the League knows who's on your team at any given time. This way if a Pokémon who's not on the team is sent into battle, you are penalized appropriately. Now this sounds like it could be abused, but remember that the Pokédex communicates wirelessly with the Poké Balls at all times. The moment a Pokémon who is not registered is sent out for a battle, the match ends and the offending Trainer is penalized and fined for the infraction.

If the Trainer tries to get away with battling unofficially, their out of luck as the Pokédex also communicates wirelessly at all times with any and all nearby Pokédex's in a 100m range. If two Trainers happen to be within 100m of each other and send out their Pokémon within ten seconds of each other, based on the distance between them the Pokédex will automatically assume a battle is underway and penalize both participants. The closer you are to each other, the faster the Pokédex assumes a battle is taking place.

The good news is that the Pokédex will give you a warning. Its LED indicator on the outside will flash red five times, once per second, along with an audible alarm chime. You have until the end of the final chime to recall your Pokémon before the Pokédex locks your Poké Balls (for six hours (the standard lock time)) and reports the infraction to the League's database.

A bit of a "rushing to conclusions" kind of rule, but the League is not taking any chances.

Re: Pokémon: Legends Untold Discussion

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby KumoriRyuu on Mon Jun 11, 2018 4:43 pm

Hey guys, the Lore page has been updated once again.

I have added Pokémon Trainer Accounts, and Pokémon Purchase to the list.

I will briefly cover these things for you here, but it will be up to you to read the more detailed sections in the Lore page.

Pokémon Trainer Accounts details how your account works in this RP. When you become a Licensed Trainer, you have an account with the Pokémon League which also gives you a special line of financial credit for Pokémon related purposes such as utilizing the services of a Pokémon Breeder, shopping at a Poké Mart, etc.

These credits cannot be used in place of regular currency at places such as restaurants, sporting goods stores, etc. Nor can regular currency be used for Pokémon related purposes such as Breeder services, shopping at a Poké Mart, etc.

The Pokémon League designed this line of credit to help separate the lives of Pokémon Trainers from those of regular people. This can be seen by some as both a positive and a negative. It's a positive because this way you don't have to dig into your own pockets to make purchases and such, but it's a negative because if you come from a wealthy family you can't use that wealthy to make life easier as a Trainer.

Pokémon Purchase is essentially a "Capturer for Hire", kind of like a bounty hunter. But these bounty hunters are Professional Pokémon Hunters who only capture Pokémon for other Trainers who have enough to pay them. They don't harm the Pokémon they capture in any way.

In general the easier a Pokémon is to capture, the less expensive this service is. The more difficult the capture, the more expensive it is. Pikachu, for example, is a difficult catch. They live in family groups and their electricity is dangerous to humans. Having a Pikachu captured for you typically runs between $12,000-$15,000.

The most expensive contract seen to completion was for $12 million, and it was for the capture of a Dragonair.

Another small update to the Pokémon section of the Lore Page.

You are not limited to Region specific Pokémon as you are in the games. So long as the environment would be suitable for the Pokémon, you can likely find it there.

If you've any doubts, please check the link for the realistic Pokédex to consult whether or not the Pokémon you want would be found there. If it's not on that link, ask me and we can discuss where it would be found and what the likelihood of you finding it actually is.

Obviously rarer Pokémon are to be avoided early on as there is this nagging consistency about "the rarer it is, the more powerful it becomes". So we have to be cautious about how rare the Pokémon we find early on in the adventure are.

As well, Pokémon you've just caught are not going to automatically be loyal to you. They are still the same wild animal you caught a moment ago, and if you sent a newly caught Pokémon into battle it may ignore you, attack you, or even try to run away right then and there. You need to earn your newly caught Pokémon's trust because it doesn't understand the concept of "I was caught, so now I belong to this human".

Trust takes time, so play it up and enjoy the struggle of earning your new Pokémon's trust!

Thanks guys!

So I remember looking through the realistic PokeDex entry regarding Viridian City and noticing there being a change of Gym Leaders from the original games/series (I hadn't actually noticed this before since I haven't really played many of the Pokemon games). Evidently, the original gym leader was Giovanni, who is the leader for Team Rocket, until he was outed for his position in the criminal organization. At that point, Blue took over as Gym Leader. At the same time, you've also said that none of the games/anime series events are canon.

So who runs that gym? Blue? Giovanni? Or some other individual?
