LAKE JACOBS: Lake Jacobs is a small, misty, freshwater lake located on the edge of Oakville. It is home to a few types of fish, including bass, sunfish, and catfish.
THE WOODS: Oakville has always been surrounded by woods. But now, they seem to stretch on forever.
MAIN STREET: Due to Oakville's location there are not many chain stores in the area, and citizens rely on local businesses for their needs. Main street is filled with retail, offices and municipal buildings.
POLICE STATION: The police station in Oakville is located in one of the city’s older buildings. Though small, it contains two holding cells, handcuffs, and other common police gear.
OAKVILLE MEDICAL CENTER: Replacing the outdated Oakville Hospital, Oakville Medical Center opened up in 2014. It was controversial, with some believing the town needed better healthcare and others arguing it would cause traffic problems and that new construction would destroy the city’s charm. The new building created jobs in Oakville and brought new people to the community.
TAYLOR MARKET: Located at the corners of Main Street and Willow Street, Taylor Market is the largest grocery store in Oakville. They carry a wide range of items, from fresh produce and meat to frozen meals and canned goods and have been owned and operated by the Taylor's.
MEADOWS THEATER: The Meadows Theater was built in 1926, and throughout the years has been restored to what it is today. The movie theater sits on the edge of Main Street and remains one of the most popular hang out spots for the youth.
COFFEE BEAN: Located near Oakville High, The Coffee Bean is the go-to cafe for high school students. While the cafe is best known for its lattes, they also have a variety of teas and juices.
OAKVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY: Despite the library’s small size, the book collection housed in it covers a wide variety of topics. The library also has programming, mostly catered to children, such as story time, homework help, and free afternoon snacks. Teen programming is less popular, but includes homework help and coding classes.
