Character roster updated 24 April 2011.
Notice:
This is a modern realistic, advanced/literate, character-driven, crime/thriller roleplay.
Players must be mature enough to handle, discuss, and portray some controversial and potentially inflammatory themes with sensitivity, discretion, and thoughtfulness.
Introduction
Fugitive terrorist Tahira Ali voluntarily enters the United States, offering information on individuals closely tied to the heart of Hataf, a terrorist organization responsible for scores of attacks against anyone deemed its enemy (including Americans, Israelis, the British, and even Asian Indians) since 1965 through the present day. Since 1968, Ali has been on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List for her role in Hataf related attacks and foiled plots, as well as seemingly unrelated murders.
Meanwhile, the American Central Intelligence Agency will scramble to unravel this mystery. Why is Ali offering this information? Is any of it valid? And most importantly, they have received intelligence from other sources that Hataf is planning its grandest attack yet, with a nuclear warhead obtained from the former Soviet Union. It is unclear where it came from, but if the information is true, and the CIA believes it is, it is even more imperative to deal a crushing blow to Hataf to end its reign of terror over its enemies. At the same time, the American FBI will demand jurisdiction in the criminal case pending against Ali, who has not been granted any form of immunity. They see this as an opportunity to make an example of her, to propagate the message that they always get their man, and that no one can escape justice, especially not one of their ten most wanted.
As the date of Hataf's attack draws near - sometime mid-June - tensions will increase, and those involved in this situation will be forced to examine their own motives, to face their pasts, and to unravel the greatest mystery of all - the mystery of self. Those in Hataf who fear they will be named, found, and either arrested or killed will be driven deeper into hiding, or drawn from it, to do what Ali is doing. Those in the CIA and the FBI are not merely engaged in another turf war; they must find a median in order to prevent a devastating tragedy. And then there is Tahira Ali. What to do with her? That question, though not the first one, is ever-present, as law enforcement and intelligence work together to thwart Hataf's plot.
Rules
1.) Follow basic roleplay etiquette. This is with respect to things such as god-modding, metagaming, and the like.
2.) Post at least once a month. If you cannot meet this requirement, simply let me know.
3.) Characters should be unique, realistic, believable, and dynamic. This means Mary Sues will not be permitted, and that all characters should be developed dynamically and believably. Characters -- your characters -- are the focus of this roleplay.
4.) Literacy is required. There is no minimum post length (in words or paragraphs), but good form, style, and presentation are expected.
5.) Violence and swearing (IC only, please) are permitted; the only boundaries are physics and realism. Keep romance/sexual content to PG-13 (this one is a rule of the site as well).

Character Submissions
You can submit them to the official roleplay tab page. OOC discussion will go in this thread, but submit characters that way, and I'll edit them into the roster.
GUIDELINES FOR PROFILES: Be sure to mention what organization your character represents. You may create characters affiliated with any imaginable organization, agency, institution, etc. provided that your character meets the following three criteria: a.) the character is appropriate for the modern/realistic setting. b.) the character has something to add to the basic themes of the roleplay. c.) the character otherwise meets the criteria set forth in the roleplay's rules.
I honestly don't care whether you use a picture reference for your character (as long as it's realistic), but please use your description and history as a chance to showcase your writing ability. Premade or pre-existing characters are welcome, provided they are your creation. Also, be realistic about ages of characters, especially with respect to relevant skills, experience, and education. Your profile can be completed in any format you desire.
Do not feel constrained by the introduction to the roleplay - your character need not be directly, or even indirectly, related to that storyline. All players in this roleplay are encouraged to develop their own backstories with one another, to develop their own plots and subplots with one another, and to develop their characters with one another - not merely on their own (though you can, if you choose), or in a manner fettered by the introduction to this roleplay.
