LORD AND LADY MAYFAIR

Full name: Genevieve Mayfair
Age: 25
Gender: F
Morality: good
Class: noble
Appearance: ImageImage
(inspiration: Madam Red- Kuroshitsuji)

Of noble birth and English origin, Lady Genevieve is known in society as a woman with modern ideas and a keen interest for parties and other social gatherings. She is the perfect host and a demanded guest, often depicted as the life of the party. In reality, Lady Mayfair has high moral standards and likes to make sure everyone abides by the rules. She keeps her estate with an iron hand and a gentle smile, depending on the situation. Romantic and wise, she loves her husband almost to the point of sacrifice, yet her love is not blind. Knowing her husbandā€™s ways she knows when to act and when to stay in the shadows when it comes to his usual misdeeds. Everyone in the house respects and loves her mostly because she treats everyone equally.

The mansion, the garden and other properties are her and her husbands possessions, except for the servants ā€“ unlike Lord Byron Mayfair who considers them to be objects.

Loved by her parents, Genevieve was always a good daughter, the last child in a family of six. She was the only girl who could read and write, her thirst for knowledge being often compared to her brothersā€™ thirst for women and parties. She met Byron Mayfair at one of the gatherings started by her father. She liked his forward manner and strong self confidence and loved him dearly ever since. Having a keen interest for the occult, Genevieve discovered the truth about their origins and past lives through her visions (some of them being blurry dreams at night, others ā€“ more vivid ā€“ after she has a drink or two)
Pragmatic as she is, she questioned them and is still doing historical research on their family tree. As far as she knows, only two lives were important in her past existences: she was a vestal priestess and queen of France, Catherina de Medici. One of her friends, Emma Chambers -known as Madam Fuchsia only in close circles - is a fortune teller and a clairvoyant. One night Genevieve brought her a bone comb and one of her husbandā€™s pocket watches and after touching them, Emma related an episode from their unknown past in Egypt.

Her childhood was happy although her father, a puritan, always focused his attention on her religious upbringing in the wrong way. This focus has been particularly unfortunate since the first two-thirds of the nineteenth century saw a great, almost astonishing, revival of biblical typology, which left its firm impress upon Victorian literature, art, and on Genevieveā€™s young mind as well. Her thirst for knowledge and personal opinions clashed with her fatherā€™s narrow vision and their peaceful home was often a battle ground for their conflicts. Only her motherā€™s patience and diplomatic interventions kept their father ā€“daughter relationship in normal limits. Things got worse when young Genevieve refused to marry the man her father chose as future husband based on financial interests. She swore she would never marry and kept her promise until at the age of 21 (everyone considered her an old maid by then) when she met Byron Mayfair, a wealthy young man from another class, without noble origins. The father threatened to disinherit Genevieve, but died from a heart attack before he could put his plans into action. Stricken with grief, she married Byron and got Magnolia Manor along with a forest and an orchard, her brothers and sisters getting the bigger share from their parentā€™s properties and valuables. After her motherā€™s death the first son also inherit the main estate.
At the moment, Lady Genevieve keeps in touch with two of her brothers, Jonathan and Harold, the other brother and two sisters being out of the country (one serving the King and the others married with foreigners)

Soul mate: Byron Mayfair

Full name: Byron Mayfair (real name Julien Augustus)

Age: 27
Gender: M
Morality: evil
Class: bourgeois
Appearance: Image
Height: 1.8 cm
Weight: 74 kg
With long black hair and fairly toned muscles. Has four scars on his stomach from a fight in the colonies.

Byron is a dandy. By that I mean he knows good wine, haute cuisine and heā€™s very picky with his company. Because heā€™s not a noble, but is a frequent guest of their gatherings, he became a snob. Caviling and sarcastic, Byron knows how to laugh only at the cost of otherā€™s misfortune and he will treat everyone and every situation with mild indifference. Being richer than most nobles because his father was a well known banker, he never worked a day in his life. He is often bored and has a class complex because heā€™s a bourgeois.

Pricy clothes and a silver small knife.
Byron always loved to be part of something which implied great risks and huge amounts of adrenaline. He used his vast income to sail the unknown world and for a couple of years he lived in the colonies, making his duty in the Kingā€™s name and returning with a twisted passion for violence and blood. Two months after his return, the owner of Magnolia Manor invited his father and a few other bankers at one of his high-class social gatherings in order to close a fairly profitable deal. His father, disappointed in his son's lack of interest for work and financial gain, sent him on his behalf to test his abilities and to see if he proves somehow worthy of his annual income. Bored as usual, Byron accepted to go and as it proved further on, he done well. On that night he met Genevieve. At first he paid no attention to her but when he found out that she was the lordā€™s daughter, Byronā€™s interest increased dramatically. He managed to charm her and have her hand in marriage against the will of her father. His plan of accession went smoothly and he succeeded in getting the title of ā€œSirā€ after his marriage due to ā€œoutstanding services and military meritā€ from the Queen and on the advice of the Foreign and Commonwealth Chamber. The title was acquired after his long service in the colonies of South Africa, mainly for his help on keeping the native population under control. Although some called his actions ā€œmurderous actsā€, the King gave him a title. Because the ā€œLordā€ title is only passed down by blood, he is known as Sir Byron Mayfair but no one dares to call him that. He wishes to be called Lord and thatā€™s how it always has been in Magnolia Manor.
His fallen angel origin is the main reason for his unfaithfulness both in love and friendship..therefore he had neither friends nor lovers before Genevieve. He never gets attached and affection is a foreign concept to him. Byron was always unfaithful to his soul mate in his past lives. He was only curious when he descended on Earth and took the first woman he liked as wife, abandoning her after their punishment. It seems he's stuck with her for eternity although he never remembers that.

FALLEN ANGELS

1st Fallen Angel
Full name:John Arbuthnot Fisher
Age: 43
Gender: Male
Morality: Good
Class:Lower Class
Appearance: Image
Height: 5 feet 10 inches
Weight: 175 lbs
Personality: A consummate professional John is at all times calm, cool, and collected with a perchance for the odd wry cynicism. This wry cynicism is the result of what he is. A bastard child of a whore has no friends in the nobility that make up ships officers after all. But despite this his aloof manner is merely an act, a convincing one, but merely an act. In reality he is terrified of failure, so much so that he has earned a reputation as a strict taskmaster accepting nothing less then perfection from both himself and his crew. After all unlike most ship officers he has no golden safety net and that fact haunts him at night when he lies abed. But mixed with this perfectionist behavior and aloof manner is a core of virtue and honesty. Lacking neither for courage or honor John is a man who puts Crown and Country before all else.
Weaponry and equipment: Aside form his uniform, cutlass, pistol, and a small manor near York, England John owns little. Although he is the captain of the HMS Warrior which does see him well off financially. Prize money is good when they capture ships after all.
History: John Arbuthnot Fisher was born in the east side of London in a whorehouse to a lady of ill repute known only as Scarlet. His birth was both difficult and taxing on his mother whom never did truly recover from the effort. Instead dying a few months afterwards she left her son to be raised in an orphanage. Life in the orphanage was far from ideal, in fact sometimes the boy thought hell itself might be a step up. Be that as it may John showed remarkably keen intellect and analytical thought patterns, soon outstripping boys twice his age in academic pursuits. He soon proved to be a favorite of the other boy becoming their leader despite his young age. And his physical prowess soon manifested itself. While neither the biggest nor the tallest John proved able to dance circles around nearly anyone at any given sport.

And so these qualities combined to make him stand out from the other boys at the orphanage. So much so that at the age of 12 he was adopted by a childless couple. While not the richest of parents they came to love John deeply, something he has been grateful for to this day. Raising him in their south side London house John came to work as a file clerk, helping his adoptive parents in their dry goods store. But the sight of the ships in the harbor fired his imagination when the crushingly boring paper work got to him. Then again most British boys felt the same about the ships, after all the sea is what made their Island great. British ships sailed all over the world, nearly unchallenged. Their holds filled with treasures from the far flung corners of Asia and Africa.

His parents were not oblivious of their adoptive child's daydreams and so devised to help John fulfill them. Making this known to him the boy saw a chance to seize this dream and make it reality. Eschewing signing aboard a merchant ship he set his sights on the Navy, the man'o'wars being the center of his dreams. At this his adoptive parents balked a little, after the navy was a brutal place. Where flogging, death, and loss of limb were all too common. But knowing once Pandora's box was open there was no shutting it they set a course of action. John would be no Jack Tar, he would join the Navy an officer.

So begging, borrowing, and smooth talking they secured a place for John at the Royal Navy Academy. Where the orphanage had been thought of as hell the academy must be it's ninth circle. The other cadets for the most part were the spoiled brats of the upper class and so disdained this adoptive son of a lower class merchant parents. So way or and other the story of his birth got out, thus forever exuding John from the the club as it were. But he cared not a wit for their disdain. Instead he threw himself at his studies and so proved to be the most talented student in the school. His achievements became the stuff of legend, there was simply no subject regarding Naval matters he could not master. By the time his training tour rolled around John could probably have built a ship of the line with his own bare hands, had someone given him the need materials.

Serving aboard the HMS Falcon for his training tour John soon proved a natural commander. His lower class status earning him much respect from the Jack Tars. His sheer skill in Naval matters earning him high praise from the Captain. And so when he returned to the Royal Navy Academy it was to fanfare ( at least from the Teachers who could overlook his heritage.) Graduating with full honors and top of his class he was presented with the ceremonial cutlass that symbolized this fact.

Assigned to the HMS Glover, a small patrol frigate, as a midshipman he soon amassed both respect and medals. While battles proved rare John nonetheless displayed incredible steadfastness and courage in all matters. Never one to rest on his rank he did everything asked of him and then some. But as he rose in rank he began to realize the peril of his situation. He was not a rich man and many a seaman retired early because of injury. While the fear of injury itself were little enough the fear of it's results were not. His parents having died early and in debt left nothing for their adoptive son. And his salary was nothing to envy either. This formed a fear that never truly left him.

Earning his Captain's rank at the age of 38 John became commander of the HMS Warrior. A truly massive ship and one of the first all iron sea going battleships it was the pride of the fleet. Although a ship of the line it was more the capable of independent action. Since earning his Captain's rank John has become even more aloof but still cares for the men under his command. This in turn has made him quite a popular figure amongst the Jack Tar's of the Royal Navy.

Now on two months shore leave John has received an invitation to a Summer Solstice celebration at Mangolia Manor. Something that puzzles him somewhat as he has few friends among the high born. Even fewer that would claim him publicly as a friend. But figuring it can't hurt he accepts.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gZY_fQfhAQ
John often dreams of previous lives his soul has lived. However the Naval Captain is unaware these dreams are in fact memories of previous lives. He often fears that these dreams are in fact a sign of his sanity slowly slipping away. After all what kind of sane man could dream of the past with such vivid clarity, as if he had been there when it happened.

3rd Fallen Angel
-
Full Name: Duncan Reid MacCraigh
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Morality: Good
Class: Lower Class
Appearance: Even at first glance, yes, Duncan does in fact, look exactly like the kind of man the British Empire would send to the edge of civilization to make things die. Standing at around 5'9" with a strong, lean build, Duncan's body is decorated in a myriad of scars and old wounds, most noticably the odd pattern of marks around his left eye and cheek from a glass bottle in a barroom brawl and four longer scars on the same side from a close encounter with a very large, very angry feline; marring what would otherwise be a ruggedly handsome face... though the short cut of his brown hair and the hardness of his cold grey eyes, the hardness of a professional killer, does little to endear him to the fairer sex either way.
Personality: Despite outward appearances, Duncan actually comes off in casual conversation as a witty, if not eccentric and irreverent individual; seemingly having a wry remark ready for every feasible situation he may encounter and never lacking in good humour. Though making his career through his uncanny affinity for violence, the young man has always endeavoured to do the right thing, even if it's not proper or expedient, and has been known to go far out of his way to help people in need.

But he has a switch.

Duncan doesn't get mad, he just 'switches on'- becoming the cold, methodical killing-machine the Army spent thirteen years turning him into; Ruthless, efficient and very, very good at his job. Usually it's only his men who ever see this side of him, not making much fuss about it as they know the Captain's first priority will always be bringing his men back alive.

To anyone else however, it's absolutely terrifying.

Weaponry and equipment: He carries a Gurkha kukri, a souvenir from his time in India, on his person at all times.
History: Born the seventh son and tenth child of a factory worker and his wife in the slums of Glasgow, Scotland, Duncan grew up working in the steel mill alongside his family, enduring both the harshness of the Industrial Revolution and the squalor of life in the city. At the age of fourteen, the lad simply did not return home from work one night, prompting his family and coworkers to assume him dead; the slums were a dangerous place, and muggers and murderers were not at all uncommon. Unbenkownst to all, however, Duncan was quite alive and well.

...As well as anyone who lied about their age and joined the Army could be, anyhow...

Assigned to a Rifle Company, the young Scotsman spent the next thirteen years fighting the Empire's conquests in India and Africa under the command of the eccentric Captain Jackson, a wily English nobleman who took Duncan under his wing and taught him everything from reading, to writing, to the skills needed to survive the many, many battles they fought together. Through a combination of skill and luck (read: not dying), Duncan made Sargeant at twenty, recieving a Victoria Cross and a commission to Lieutenant three years later for 'Extraordinary Valour', though this may have been in part an unwillingness in the command-structure to, with the death of Captain Jackson, send another English gentleman to command green-coated ruffians in a backwater shithole on the other side of the world when there was a perfectly expendable and somewhat educated Scotsman available.

It has been four years since, and the now Captain Duncan MacCraigh has gained more than his share of notoriety in the Army for being the unorthdox commander of an unconventional formation posted in an unusual land, far from home. Though respected by his men, peers and commanders in the colonies, the Scotsman's exploits have never been entirely popular with the Old Guard and the Gentry back in Britain; which is why he at first thought the strange, handwritten invitation that arrived at his camp one morning to be a joke. And then another came... and another... and another...

It was around the morning that his Sargeant woke him up by emptying a sack full of the damnable mail on him that he decided it may be prudent to at the very least respond to the persons responsible for annoying him from half a world away, somewhat intrigued that whoever these 'Mayfairs' were, they apparently had enough pull in London to convince the Army High Command (who were quite content to just leave him in the colonies and not mention him ever again) to give him leave to return home in order to attend... a party.

Confused, but perhaps a little amused, Duncan packed his bags and boarded the next ship leaving Cape Town, heading towards Britain for the first time in thirteen years.

--------

Completely unknown to Duncan, however, is the nature of the nightmares that have plagued his subconsciousness since childhood; images of swords, betrayal, and battlefields in an ancient but oddly familiar land. The answer of course, is as silly as it is baffling; That these 'dreams' are in actuality the memories of his life as the legendary High King of Britain, Arthur Pendragon, stripped of the flair and poetry added by authors centuries after his death and laid bare in their ugly, violent truths.

HUMAN SOULMATES

1st Human soul mate
Full name: Annabelle Penclave

Age: 25
Gender: F
Morality: Good
Class: ex-middle class,currently lower class
Appearance:
Anna is your average lass: average height, average weight, the average chestnut brown hair color and hazel eyes. She dresses simple (as simple as a woman could dress in the 19th century),with few accessories and her hair always tied.

Personality
Annabelle is an independent,hard-working and a highly analytical person. Her studies and travels abroad have shaped her into quite a rebel young lady: she doesn't follow social or fashion etiquette,is always at war with her parents and with the society's view of women.Being witty, sarcastic and a bit cynical, she likes either intelligent or simply good company and won't step back from hearing what others want to debate with her, unless it's just idle gossip.Though essentially a fair and good person, she can be shrewd and bear a grudge. Her sister's insistence of finding her a husband and a young doctor's constant courting have turned her into an eccentric and a lone-wolf since she refuses to marry,as every man that has approached her doorstep has made it clear that they would take her only if she renounces her interest in chemistry and becomes the lady she ought to be.Her only friends are her sister and her maid and butler, which she treats like family. She always asks people,on making their acquittance, that they call her "Anna" and not "Annabelle" or "Miss Penclave" as she considers them to be too formal.

Equipment
Annabelle has a dagger that she bought in Russia out of her first few kopecks,in order to protect herself on the harsh streets of Saint Petersburg.Upon her arrival in China she bought her second piece of protection,a 1892 Winchester rifle, that she has oftentimes used to get the suitors to leave her alone.Other tools consist of a pocket watch with three compartments,a pair of monocles (as she considers pince-nez to be too uncomfortable),an arsenal of instruments for chemical experiments and a smaller kit of the same instruments that she takes along when travelling. She also considers as her "arsenal" her impressive collection of books and papers on various topics as medicine, foreign languages, literature and even old legends and folk-tales.

History
Annabelle Penclave is the second child and daughter of the Penclave family, consisting of her father Sir Charles Penclave, her mother Gertrude Penclave, her sister Catherine Pearson (she is married to Maurice Pearson,a local high class gentleman from the Dartmoor area, center Devonshire, where they grew up) and herself.Being a curious soul since childhood,at the age of 8 Annabelle climbed up in the attic of their mediocre house in search for new things to do.There she found 2 books on chemistry that the previous owner of the house left behind. After reading the 2 books, having been hooked by the field of chemistry, she pleaded her parents to let her study it.They refuse, considering that the only teachings she'll ever need are those of ladyship. After getting tired of following her parents dreams and always being overshadowed by her older sister, she leaves home,at the age of 16,for Russia in hopes of studying under the renowned chemist Dimitri Mendeleev.Once there she learned the basics of Russian language, searches for work at Saint Petersburg State University, where, after a year, she is granted the privilege of attending Mendeleev's lectures, until he resigns in 1890.Later that year she wrote to her family to let them know she was fine;after a week she receives the reply to her letter, her parents informing her that she has been disinherited. Her sister on the other hand writes to her monthly. She spends a total of 5 years in Russia studying the use of pharmaceutical and bio-chemistry,and leaves for China in 1892,traveling back and forth between mainland China and western Japan for a year. When she finally decides to leave for Europe, instead of coming straight home, she stops for another year in Germany, furthering her studies and experiments.Upon her arrival back home she is greeted only by her sister who managed to black-mail her parents into giving her a tenth of the family wealth. She lives in a house her sister gave her as a gift for homecoming, where she spends her days researching new pharmaceutical uses for chemistry and has a supply and demand business relationship with the young doctor in Dartmoor, though the good doctor has tried countless times to convince her to marry him.

She receives Lady Genevieve's invitation the day she had her sister over for tea,and tough mentioning to her sister that she didn't want to attend the party,in a moment of carelessness, her sister writes a response to the invitation and sends Marry,Annabelle's maid and friend,to deliver it.Bound by her word,Annabelle must now attend the party, like it or not.

------------------

Out of all the distractions the day and age could throw at her,Annabelle looses her composure only when invaded by her weird dreams. She frequently dreams of a sword as beautiful as a woman can only hope to be,stone walls,a brave husband and a lover....

Age: 21 yrs
Gender: Female
Morality: Evil
Class: Noble
Appearance: Image
Height- 5'3"
Weight- 115 lbs
Complexion: Pale
Hair- Silver
Eyes- Silvery blue
Frame- Slim
Personality: Cunning, likes getting her way, fear of a broken heart, opinionated, loves children, doesn't trust men in general, loves the arts, is actually a good listener and supporter to her friends, brutally honest.
Weaponry and equipment: None at the moment, although she is skilled in archery, something most people don't know about.
History: In past lives Alayna has been to different countries and cultures, from China to England and even the undiscovered Americas. In this current life she was born to nobility. Her family name was Jameson and her mother was Italian and her father was British. It was said to be a love match even though it was arranged. The youngest child of 7, Alayna was probably spoiled the most because her mother died giving birth to her and her father doted on her.

She loved her father deeply but he died when she was only 13 years old and the estate went to her eldest brother, Henry. She and Henry had differences of opinion and argued alot. Needless to say he arranged for her to get married when she was 18 years to someone 20 years her senior. Suffice to say, Alayna argued with this every step of the way but ended up marrying the man because it was either that or to enter a covent and Alayna had no desire to do that. She secretly hoped she would come to at least like her husband. Unfortunately he saw the marriage as more as a business proposition and only wanted Alayna to give him heirs.

Alayna suffered 3 miscarriages in the 2 brief short years of their marriage, which devestated her but she refuse to grieve in front of anyone. This persona she exuded gave her an icy reputation, almost as bad as her husband's. During this time, her husband wasn't faithful to her. When Alayna was 20 her husband was killed in a carriage accident when something spooked the horses and the driver lost control, causing the carriage to turn into a ditch, killing her husband. Alayna inherited her husband's vast wealth and she's handled her husband's estates in a professional manner. She refuses to marry again, even though she still feels this longing in her heart. However, Alayna thinks her heart is pretty much dead now thanks to all the heartbreak she's endured.

Alayna sleepwalks when she dreams of any past lives and still has nightmares about her miscarriages.

3rd Human soul mate
Full name: Clarice Adelaide Phaedra (fay-drah)
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Morality: evil
Class: was originally a peasant, but married a wealthy man he "accidentally" died leaving her with all his money
Appearance:
Image

Clarice's looks are what just about every man wants. Her blonde hair falls to her mid back and naturally has voluptuous waves, but she brushes it straight. She outlines her icy blue eyes in dark liner and paints her full lips bright red. She isn't a head turner, she is a neck breaker. Her small waist is accentuated by her full bust and perfect hips that lead to her long smooth legs. Her complexion is pale, but a any amount of sun will lightly tan her skin; she is always found wearing corset dresses with no sleeves (quite scandalous for the time period) and adds matching necklaces and earrings to everything. Her nails are always painted a crimson color to reflect her venomous personality.
Personality: Clarice is the woman everyone has you warned about, but you just cannot avoid. From her enchanting laugh and her perfect looks, it is almost impossible to not want to be her, or to be with her. She is sly and cunning and her silent monologue with herself shows her self infatuation. Clarice is a vixen and loves to play with guys hearts which she is very good at. In addition she could care less what any body thinks of her and expresses it by wearing risquƩ clothing and doing things not suitable for a woman. She made her money by marrying a rich man and then killing him, but everyone thinks it was simply an accident. Clarice is drawn to anything prohibited, whether that is a married man deeply in love or a room that is strictly off limits. She has a tendency to use her body to get exactly what she wants, and it has worked so far. To outsiders she can appear innocent. Clarice can be nice, you just have to earn her respect. Once she trusts you she would stick up for you or protect you until the earth ends. Clarice has an incredibly dry sense of humor and cannot help but be sultry. She enjoys men.. probably a little to much, and could be classified as a tramp. On top of it all she can take any kind of punch (probably from all the women who want her dead) and can throw any kind of punch and most likely knock a guy out.

She also has been a dancer since she was a tiny child, whether it be ballet or exotic dancing every move she makes is graceful.
Equipment:
Clarice wears a necklace with a small (about one inch) diamond shaped gem filled with a clear liquid, so it just looks like a solid stone. Inside of the clear stone is a clear poison used to secretly kill or harm people who get in her way.
History:
Clarice was never the child any father wanted, sneaking out was part of her daily routine since she was thirteen and meeting boys was only the half of it. Maybe it had been because her dad drank a lot, or that she never really had a mother figure in her life. She lacked the structure (and the sex talk) any girl had to have. Even as a young teenager all the boys went wild after her, but she only went wild after one. In the end he never spoke to her, thought she was worthless, and ever since then she never knew why she shouldn't refrain from something so... enjoyable.

When she turned nineteen she found a suitor, a very rich man from the countryside who wanted her for his wife. She married him and was soon spoiled with riches she was never lavished with as a child. From diamonds to show horses anything she wanted she could get, but she wanted it all. Coming up with the fantastic idea to poison her husband he died, and all his money was left to her. Clarice sold the huge estate he lived on and has been in her new house ever since.

-----X-----

Clarice had been married once before in a previous life. All went well until he was found sleeping with her sister. Since Clarice has never been able to be able to break out of the rut of just pulling at heart strings of suitable men.

Perhaps one of the men here will be able to change that... or maybe not.

MAGNOLIA MANOR

Magnolia Manor - established since 1872 in Wilk Street - is one of the largest buildings in the area, subject of gossip and admiration. A medium sized mansion at first, built by Col. Jedediah Moore for his beloved wife Katarina, the building has been passed down in the family and each new generation made improvements or added extra rooms until its present state. Itā€™s a two storey building (except the ground floor and attic) with two bathrooms on each floor and one large bathing room with an indoor basin on the ground floor.
Although there were never rumors of ghosts haunting the place, it is believed that the manor is full of secret passageways and false doors which only the owner knows about.

Lady Genevieve decided that it will be best for the male guests to have the second floor, whilst the girls take the rooms on the first. Lady Genevieve and Lord Byron have separate bedrooms on the ground floor.

NPC PAGE

Emma Chambers (Madam Fuchsia)
Image
Best friend to Genevieve Mayfair since they were 12. Married at the age of 18 and widowed at 27, she holds on to the memory of her husband and denies his passing. Eccentric and easily amused, Emma has great spiritual power and is known as a clairvoyant amongst her friends. She rarely interferes in the life of others, but is always willing to lend a hand (or her inner eyesight) when asked. She is loyal to Genevieve and loves her dearly.

Jared Forehand (First Butler of Magnolia Manor)

Image
In his late 20s, this servant has been in the Mayfair family since Genevieve and Byron got married. He was her ā€œwedding giftā€ from her aunt Emma and has served her well ever since. When it comes to the coupleā€™s usual disputes, Jared tends to favor his mistress, not being very fond of his master. As expected, he keeps things for himself because a well behaved servant will never speak unless addressed to. His secret desire is to become the mistressā€™ confident one day. He has feelings of brotherly love towards Genevieve.

SPECIAL GUESTS

Full name: Maximilian Uliara
Age: 34
Gender: Male
Morality: good
Class: lower class
Appearance
Image
He is 6'7" with a fairly fit build, long black hair, and icy blue eyes. He usually wears a white shirt with a red vest, black slacks, and boots.
Soul mate: N/A
Personality

He gives off a friendly demeanor, especially when trying to get something. He lives by his own code of chivalry, which is slightly more morally gray than most peoples. He's manipulative and will do what ever is necessary to get what he wants, but is moral enough that he doesn't try to harm people. When someone wrongs him he will ensure that justice is served, sometimes abusing his abilities if he feels it is justified.

Privately, his desire to live a noble lifestyle is in constant contest with his chivalry. He owns no land because he believes it is their possessions that make some nobles become less ā€œnobleā€. While he could easily marry a rich widow, that would be immoral to him, as well as marrying a woman he didnā€™t love.

Equipment
An ornate rapier (mostly for show, but he knows how to use it), a small wooden ocarina

History

His mother was a servant at a nobleā€™s manor and his father was a local grocer. As a child, his mother would take him to the manor with her, the lady of the house welcoming him as a playmate for her sons. Growing up, he rarely realized there was a difference between him and them, they would invite him to any event they attended and his father made enough for him to dress like them. The only difference he saw between them was that their father was wealthy while his made enough for them to live comfortably, their only real luxury being his fine clothes. Though he didnā€™t become greedy as his father had once feared, he developed a taste for the noble lifestyle that he wouldnā€™t grow out of. When he began working in his fathers store when he was 11, their differences became more obvious to him and he decided that he would become a noble himself.

His father taught him about the ā€œart of salesā€ and how to read peopleā€™s faces. Maximilian was astounded at his fathersā€™ ability to sell, specifically to the wealthy. ā€œIf someone can afford to buy more than they need, then it is our duty to indulge them as much as we can.ā€ He once told his son after convincing a noble to buy most of his stock for a party. Maximilian learned to read a persons clothes, face, posture, even their tone to figure out what they were thinking. He made his father proud the day he sold their entire stock of wine to a traveling priest.

While working in the store, he learned another skill that would prove invaluable. Like any other store, they had the occasional thief try to sneak out with something. Even when Maximilian would catch them, they would sometimes get away by running or putting stuff back before being confronted. When he spotted a thief, rather than get them caught he would find out who they were and watch them in his spare time. He studied pickpockets and other thieves, both amateur and professional, and tried to learn their tricks. One day he stole a few coins from the pocket of a boy whoā€™d taken an apple from the store, and then he began stealing back what had once been taken, eventually perfecting his technique to take things from people before they even left the store. He was an amazing pickpocket, but would never abuse the skill for profit.

By the age of seventeen, heā€™d perfected all of his skills and found a way to use them all for profit. Charisma from living amongst nobles, the ability to read people, and amazing slight-of-hand all combined aloud him to become an illusionist. It started with little tricks to entertain their customers children, like coins behind the ear or simple mind game, then escalated to winning bets amongst friends and performances at gatherings. His biggest break was when one of his noble friends from childhood invited him to a party then asked him to show a few of his tricks. The other nobles loved his ā€œmind readingsā€ and his seemingly magical abilities of prestidigitation. The guest began offering him money to attend their parties as well and he soon became a bit of a private celebrity amongst circles of noble families. He also took up a side jobs helping the lower class overcome problems they faced from nobles, such as stealing withheld payments or finding secrets to bring justice, though his involvement in these practices is completely unknown to the nobles.

Since then, he has amassed a vast amount of wealth from both his performances and a few good investments. To anyone who didnā€™t know him he seemed like an eccentric noble from out of town, but the truth was he could never truly become nobility. A portion of his early earning was given to his parents, allowing his mother to quite being a servant and for the two of them to live lives far better than before. He didnā€™t own any land, choosing to live in a personal carriage he purchased and drove himself. With no noble blood, the only way to achieve his dream would be to marry into it. Though a ā€œmind readerā€ had no trouble wooing a woman, his own code of chivalry kept him from proposing unless he was truly in love. The noble women who fell for him were either didnā€™t match his tastes, either by age or personality, and the few women he loved ran into issues from their fathers. Though many noble men approved of him, some of them considering offering him their daughters, when they learned of how he lived and his heritage they would forbid them from seeing him. He has sworn that if he were to get married he would buy a home and settle down to care for her, but a manā€™s word only means so much when another manā€™s daughter is involved. Though he will never be one, he is happy that he can still live like them, enjoying fine food, expensive clothes, and noble treatment while still living as a good person.

Though he has never formally met the Mayfairs, heā€™s seen that at parties he attends. Heā€™s been asked to attend their Summer Solstice celebration as a bit of entertainment, which he sees as an opportunity to branch out to meet more potential customers.

Theme song and extra facts: He claims that if he looks into someoneā€™s eyes in the moonlight he can read their very soul. Sometimes, when alone, he plays a lullaby his mother taught him on the ocarina she gave him.
