Pʟᴀᴄᴇs ɪɴ Pᴏʀᴛʟᴀɴᴅ

"Portland is a beautiful place... And it`s a well established community, except for the little cases of deliria here and there."

As the title says, Portland is a very beautiful place. Most people preferably favor the many beaches it harbors.
Like every other established community, Portland has a border to it. This border is an electrical fence, like all borders. If you even go five feet near it you`ll be fried like a chicken. It is usually recommended that one stays at least ten feet away. Trees and bushes get scarce near the electrical fence. The closest tree to the border is fifty feet away. There are many guard towers on the border, watching for Invalids, or citizens trying to escape.
Near the north side of the border, there is a small stream that floats under the border. This is a very risky place to try to escape, but Invalids will use this river to send supplies into the Wilds. They`ll fit supplies into black garbage bags, and will let them float down the stream, under the border and into the Wilds.

The border goes out over the ocean. Since you can`t have an electrical fence in the ocean, there is just a plain old fence that rises out of the water that reaches 100 feet up over the water. Many guard towers are floating up against the fence, like little lighthouses. If one was planning to get past the border, they know especially not to try the water border.

Even though the water border is far off, the buoys are only 20 feet away from all the shorelines. This signals the no passing point when swimming. People rarely swim though, since parents never care to teach their children to swim. The buoys are all connected with a rope, and there is a rope net that goes down from the rope to the bottom of the ocean floor. You can just barely swim when you`ve reached the buoys.

Shell Beach: A popular beach that`s rather fun to explore. Mostly the area up on the large rock, which you can climb up to on the side facing the water. Some people can get suspicious when you do this though.
Back Cove: A not so popular beach. Not many regulators pass by this beach at night, and there`s a small cave near the trees that`s a nice place to hide.
Oahu Park: A fairly popular beach. The grass can go up to your thighs at some parts, which makes a nice place to hide and mess around.
Coronado Bay: People barely ever come here, because of the rather rocky shores. There`s a small cave, as you can see, that`s a good place to hide if needed.
Longtail Bay: The most popular beach in portland. People come here to tan usually on the shores.

There are a lot of other beaches, but you can just make those up in the roleplay if you want.

Downtown is like any regular town. I shouldn`t have to say much about that.

Near where the water border connects to the land border, the labs are located. The labs consist of very, very bright white buildings, and they are surrounded by an electrical fence. There is very tight security.

Near the east border, there is a ton of farmland. Population is scarce out here, since barely any people live out there. There is usually just abandoned farms and houses out here, an awesome place for illegal parties and concerts.
Near the South border is the Brooklands, which is a place that used to be a very, very wealthy neighborhood. Now it`s just filled with abandoned houses. 37 brooks is a two story house that the Makota family favors when it comes to staying overnight in Portland. All the entrances and exits are blocked off, and the gate is usually locked, but there`s a place where you can slip under the gate, and there`s a board that`s loose in one of the windows, making a perfect entrance into the house. The backyard is filled with trees, that pretty much forms a perfect canopy.
All the other houses are also awesome places for illegal parties and concerts.

More description might be added later.

Tʜᴇ Eᴠᴇʀᴇᴛᴛ`s Hᴏᴜsᴇ

"It`s annoying. Aunt Carol never lets us use most electrical things in the house. We don`t have a TV, or a computer, and Aunt Carol allows the radio only to stay in the kitchen, besides when Uncle William wants to bring it elsewhere. Practically the only other electrical things we can use are the microwave, and the oven. We don`t have any air conditioning or heaters, just some slow fans on the ceilings of some of the rooms. She barely lets us even use these!"

When it comes to where the Everett`s live, they live on one of the rather poor streets. They live in a small two story house, a crowded one at that, on a street called WillowWisp. You can see some of Coronado Bay from some of the windows upstairs. Aunt Carol and Uncle William share a bedroom, while the siblings share two bedrooms. Siblings 4, 3, and 5 sleep in one of the bedrooms, while siblings 1, 2, and 6 all sleep in the other bedroom. The two bedrooms are rather crowded and small.
The other rooms in the house are the kitchen, the two bathrooms, and the small tiny room. All of them are pretty small. You could consider the place where the dining table is, but it`s connected to the kitchen, and a tiny area. There`s also have a porch, but it only goes out five feet from the house.
A small shack is next to the house, containing some bikes and some junk.

The House.
Aunt Carol and Uncle William`s Bedroom.
The two other bedrooms look like this. Each of them with three beds in it, and one closet. Both of them also have two windows, and a crappy ceiling fan that are only allowed to be used in the Summer.
The Kitchen.
The dining area. { Only with white walls, like the kitchen, and with eight chairs } It`s in the same room as the kitchen, and really a crowded space. Aunt Carol and Uncle William usually sit at opposite ends, while we all sit on the sides.
The living room. { Only not all Christmas-y... and the fireplace isn`t fancy. }

Usually, most of the food they get comes from the Stop-N-Save, a shop Uncle William owns, which means most of the food they have really isn`t all that great... Over the Summer, and every now and then every month, most of the Everett siblings help in the shop.

Tʜᴇ Wɪʟᴅs ᴀɴᴅ ᴛʜᴇ Mᴀᴋᴏᴛᴀ`s Hᴏᴜsᴇ.

"The Wilds is beautiful... It`s alive, it`s all alive. The exploring animals, the swaying trees, everything. It`s all different than the other side; the separate world beyond that electric fence. It`s a world filled with love."

The Wilds is actually very beautiful, if you look in the right places. There are many, many things left over from the blitz, even though most of it is all destroyed. There are some houses still standing, some places you`d find in a regular town, but usually there are just ruins of towns that were standing before being bombed down.

The Invalids have what they all call homesteads. There`s millions of them, all over America. These homesteads are places were Invalids stay, store supplies, and really just live. Most of these homesteads are also considered trading places. Most homesteads are closed down in Winter though, and during these times the Invalids go to camps, places that are more secure for the Winter.

The Makota family has had their fair share of staying in homesteads, but one year, they found an amazing abandoned three story house in this huge clearing, most of it still furnished. Near the front of it, there is a tree crushing a few floors, but the tree has been stable ever since they found it, which was eight years ago, and they are positive it won`t ever completely crush the house, since the roots of the tree are still halfway in the ground.
The front and back doors have remained unharmed, so you can easily enter the house. The house must`ve been far away from where places where bombs were dropped, since the only harm done on it was because of the tree.

After eight years, the Makota family has managed to redo most of the wooden floors in the house, and with supplies coming down from the stream in Portland, it`s pretty well furnished and clean. They managed to find a small electricity generator, but it really only makes just enough power to power a small freezer they keep in the kitchen. Since the stream that starts in Portland passes by the house, every morning they try and get as many buckets of water as possible and bring them back to the house. Then, they boil the water on a stove they got in a nearby abandoned restaurant to sanitize it. { A fire must be started in the stove to be used. } Besides that, food, and all medical supplies come from whatever the sympathizers in Portland decide to send them.

Every now and then, small groups of Invalids will come to the house and stay there in the few guest rooms.
Living conditions are rough in the Wilds, but at some point, you come to love it.

The House.

To what all the rooms are like, I`ll leave that to the people who play the members of the Makota family.

Hᴏᴡ ᴛᴏ ɢᴇᴛ ɪɴ ᴀɴᴅ ᴏᴜᴛ ᴏғ Pᴏʀᴛʟᴀɴᴅ

"Going in and out of the border is dangerous... And punishable with death. But it`s what needs to be done sometimes."

Getting in and out of Portland truly is dangerous, but not if you know how to do it. From most of the homesteads near Portland, and from the Makota`s house, you can find paint marks along trees, which can lead you to and from the border. The color of paint that leads to the Makota`s house is blue.

In one of the watch towers, the guard is a sympathizer. Luckily, this guard works in the guard tower that watches over one of the many places in the electrical fence that is never powered on. Powering the whole fence uses too much electricity, so the government usually lies about the whole fence being electrical.
Whenever Invalids want to come in and out of Portland, they must climb the fence near that one guard tower. If they mix up the area with any other part of the fence, it is most likely they will be caught, and killed.

Invalids should only do this at night, or just whenever it`s dark. If they don`t, other guard towers could spot them, and both the sympathizer in that one guard tower, and the Invalid coming in will be caught, and killed. Then, that part of the electrical fence will most likely be constantly powered on.
