Here I will list more details about the locations mentioned on the map. There are more locations than these, many more towns and villages and such, but I didn't want to fill everything in on my own. I wanted to allow everyone involved to have some imput if they wanted it.
The world is called Utareos.
This is the eastern side of the continent of Elemnaira.
The northern half is known as the Greater Plains while the southern half is known as the Lesser Plains.
Locations with white letters are landmarks that are known throughout the world while those with black letters, while still important, may not be as well known in other parts of the world. Black letters also denote towns, cities, forts, things like that.
Landmarksfrom the top down
Forlorn Mountains-
Many years ago these mountains were guarded by an ancient and powerful dragon who had collected a horde of treasure that could make a man a king. When the humans ventured this far out to the eastern coast it was decided that the mountains would be a good location for a fort, but in order to build it they had to slay the dragon, which attacked anything that got too close to the mountains. A group of soldiers, lead by General Ashworth, made their way into the mountains. Ashworth was able to slay the dragon, but died shortly after due to his injuries. The name comes from the loss of such a great an honorable man.
Devil's Spur Mountain-
This is actually an active volcano, and the ground constantly rumbles around it. The temperature around this location is always twenty to fifty degrees hotter than anywhere else, despite the cooling breeze from the sea. This is also home to one of the Demon Lords, a female demon named Abzelnon.
Dragon Claw Mountain Chain-
Named because it looks a bit like the clawed arm of a dragon from a certain height, this has long been the home of giants, goblins, dwarves, and various other earth loving races. It creates part of the natural barrier separating the northern and southern plains.
Giant's Pass-
This is a valley that was created by the giants who wanted to make it easier for other races to move through their mountain home without disturbing them. It is now the main path used for trade and travel between the plains.
The Shadow Bowl-
Said to be the home to all creatures of darkness and evil intent, this is a huge valley created by the Dragon Claw and Silver Peak mountain ranges where many creatures live. Demons are common here as well, and all seemed to be influenced by evil. There is also said to be a passage into the Underdark somewhere within the Bowl.
Emerald Grove-
This stretch of forest has been around seemingly since the beginning of time, and has always been the home to the elven races, who guard it fiercely. Legend says that all the magical energy in Utareos comes from this place. The elves have made it a law that humans are forbidden, and any who knowingly enter the forest without special permission are to be killed. Those who enter on accident are taken to Songweave.
Silver Peak Mountain Range-
This chain of mountains stretches half way up the eastern coast of Utareos and has long been the home of the dwarves. It is named such because of the huge amount of mineral and ore deposits that the mountains hold within. Legend says that before the dwarves came along and turned the mountains into their home there were so many deposits that the peaks actually shimmered in the morning light.
Settlementsfrom the top down
Fort Ashworth-
Named after General Ashworth, a great and honorable man who served under King Hawklight and slayed the dragon, making it possible to build the fort itself, this is a military stronghold that houses thousands of soldiers. This is also where many soldiers are sent for various training. It is populated fully by humans.
Castle Hawklight-
Home to King Traben Hawklight this is the center of human civilization, as well as the center of the human military. From here the king makes all the decisions about his people.
Demon's Nest-
This is the only known above ground city that belongs to demons alone. Located north of Demon's Spur the ground is always moving and the weather is always hot, just how they like it. This isn't exactly a place for evil, but humans are thought of as a delicacy here.
Crossroads-
This trade city is populated by just about every race in Elemnaira, from humans to minotaurs. Anyone who has anything to sell or is looking to buy something comes here. It has been so successful, and gained its name, because it is on the main path from Giant's Pass in the south to Fort Ashworth in the north, so anyone going from north to south almost has to pass through.
Shadewatch-
This town is under the military control of the humans, and while many other races live there, the humans are in charge. They use this town as a place to keep an eye on the Shadow Bowl so that they can keep the vile creatures who live there from getting out and causing chaos in other parts of the world.
Marhorn Glen-
A small farming village named after the head of the minotaur clan who first decided to create a settlement along side the other races, this is a peaceful little village where nothing exciting ever seems to happen. The most common races here are human, but many other races can be found, including minotaurs, centaurs, halflings, as well as the occasional elf or giant, and sometimes a few dwarves as well.
Half Horn Plateau-
Many of the more animalistic races, like centaurs and minotaurs, are nomadic, meaning they would rather move from place to place than set up a village, but for whatever reason they did just that on this small plateau overlooking the Lesser Plains. Over time it has become a place where one can buy various good such as fish and pearls as well as catch a ride down the river. The animalistic races are still the most common here.
Songweave-
This town was established by the elves who wanted a place near the Emerald Grove where they could take those who wandered into their home and make them forget what they had seen without killing them. It is a place of entertainment and vices where elves and half elves sing songs, tale tells, and put on various other performances for visitors. Most of the time it is just an act, a way to make some gold, but when asked by the Emerald Grove elves their performances can carry with them spells designed to cause memory loss.
Brinehoof Port-
Named after the famous satyr pirate Argolis Brinehoof, this was once a pirate stronghold, but after a battle with the humans the pirates were driven away and is has since become a port town. Good are brought here from around the world and sent up river to Half Horn Plateau where they are then taken to the Greater Plains.
