"Khali vas, Khalivos ras en me, Khali mevirtu rapt, recu virtum defite."

("Khali come. Khali live in me. Khali take this my offering, the strength of those who oppose you.")
-A common prayer to Khali

Khalidor is an extremely militarized country that is ruled by a despotic leader known as the Godking. The culture of it's people revolve around violence and brutality. Even their Goddess Khali is viewed as a terrible being that is filled with malice. The country is massively populated that is obsessed with expansion and securing trade.

Image

The agriculture of the land revolves around growing grains. The only meat that is ranched much is pork and fish has also become a staple food. The Khalidoran government spends a massive amount of resources on the farms to increase production. Unfortunately due to the harsh climate and the poor soil not very many crops can be grown in Khalidor, as they only produce 40% of their own food. Most grain were either imported from Labrador prior to the invasion or smuggled in from Galapagos.

The lack of food in Khalidor has made the country weak against any grain embargo that is placed on it. Famines often occur in the country and when an embargo is put into play the famines can cause hundreds of thousands to starve. It is a rare time indeed when the government does not ration the grain supply.

Image

The country functions on a State Socialism where the government controls and runs all industries/major sources of production. Mining, smithing, farming, fishing, and distributing goods are ran by the government.

In Khalidor there is no actual currency. Instead the people barter for what they need from each other. Each item having a certain understood value. Slaves, iron, gems, and especially grains are the most valuable trade items. While on the other hand materials such as gold, silver, and silk are placed especially low. The only times gold is used is with trade with foreign nations.

The tax system is based on labor and pooling in resources. A farmer for examples pays his taxes with a percentage of the crops that he has grown instead of what he can earn with it since farmers are particularly wealthy. While a citizen who owns nothing of value is required to help build public structures, military forts, smith weapons, or serve in the military for a certain amount of time.

Khalidor trades metals, precious gems, lumber, oil, coal, weaponry, and occasionally it's military depending on the price. Before the invasion, Khalidor's chief trading partner was Labrador. They traded gold and silver to Labrador in exchange for grain. However their trade often ceased whenever there was grain embargo set on Khalidor and it ended when the empire met the demands of their neighbor. The most recent embargo was responded to with an invasion. Since then their second largest trade partner, Fuaria, became their first.

The foundation of Khalidor starts with Roygarris Ursuul. Roygarris was a powerful warrior who ruled over a small hub of villages of various names. According to his story he was visited by the Goddess Khali, who had willed herself into their plane of existence to place dominion over the land. She chose him as her champion and granted him her power forming Vir. Ordered to spread the faith of Khali, he conquered many tribes and brought them to his hub of villages which became closer together more people joined. Roygarris devoted the name of the new city that was formed to the goddess naming it Khalidor.

As the Lord of Khalidor he continued wars to bring small kingdoms around Khalidor into the fold. After his sixth conquest he declared himself Emperor of Khalidor. There were a few years of peace while he consolidated his power, established the government, gathered power, and built his army. When his forces were amassed he set out to go west where it was said no man dwelt. Surprised he found more than just tribal men in the great expanse.

Many fay races lived in the great expanse, many of whom had built great kingdoms of great power. Many of which held great magic. Convinced that magic could only be used by followers of Khali and that only humans should dwell in the lands, Roygarris waged war on these kingdoms one by one. He first fought the elves, so wise, crushing their kingdoms with his magic. The tribal men who had lived there thought that only the fay could use magic. Yet here this man was summoning Earthquakes and thunderstorms as if nothing. Many cults formed surrounding him, calling the Emperor a "King among Gods". After the cults gained rise in popularity many men called him a Godking. Eventually Roygarris used the name that his subjects dubbed him.

Roygarris continued to relentlessly take the land from the fay races as well as even dragons who roamed the skies. When all were defeated he set to converting the remains to Khali's will. Various genders according to race were systematically wiped out and Khalidoran colonists were sent to breed the races out of existence. As a result many of the regions throughout Khalidor the people have various traits depending on their bloodlines. Some have enlarged teeth, others pointed ears, and some small horns or even a few scales though those are few and far between.

The plunders of war were vast yet instead of putting it into the infrastructure of the empire, the Godking poured it into making the capitol a fortress. Massive walls were built, stone structures everywhere, aqueducts and cobblestone roads throughout the city, a collaseum, and even an advanced sewage system. A large iron wall was placed within the city that held the a large magical spire that the Godking and his servants resided. The city was built to withstand anything. Whether it be an army, dragons, or even gods.

As a result of the lack of infrastructure in the empire, many of the fay rebelled. Joining forces the summoned Krull to aid them. Krull are undead beings from the Void that are summoned through forbidden magic. At Castle Kugluktuk the Khalidorans made their stand against the Krull. Ten thousand versus one hundred thousand fay and Krull. The battle seemed loss so Khalidor retreated, but were covered by Roygarris himself. For twelve hours the Godking fought the Krull and the rebels, dealing massive blows on each end. By the time the battle ended only a handful of Fay survived. So the Khalidor's first civil war ended with the destruction of the rebel army and the death of their beloved Godking, Roygarrs. Thus marking the First Era.

The First Crusade

Khalidor continued to thrive and prosper after the death of their legendary founder Roygarris. The economy grew to outstanding heights and the empire grew incredibly wealthy. Culture thrived and the faith of Khali had spread to every corner of the empire. Only one land remained untouched by her influence. A land to the north called the Freeze inhabited by a great civilization known as Lodricar. It was an independent nation that had not only defied the will of Khali, but also tried to spread their own faith into Khalidor. The Godking of the time, Draven, found this unexeptable. A holy crusade was called upon.

The empire switched to a wartime economy and mobilized its armies. When they arrived in Lodricar they found that the enemy had dug in for defense. A disastrous campaign followed giving virtually no ground. Conscription went into effect and the military bolstered in size. Human wave tactics were used, gaining much more ground. However, the cost of human life was too great to continue the tactics.

Draven created five shock armies as a solution. Each army consisting of ten thousand soldiers that were finely trained, equipped with the best armor and weaponry in the empire, a relentless mentality to serve their nation, and hundreds of meisters to serve as artillery. Draven named these shock armies Khali's Vanguard, in honor of their duty in the Crusade. When deployed the shock armies smashed through the enemy lines with ease, allowing the main bulk of the military to march through to the capitol of Lodricar, Jodan. The Khalidoran host purged the population with force and the use of burning orichalc. They burned the fields to the ground and plowed salt into ground so that nothing could grow in the region again. Legend has it that due to the lack of worshipers, the gods of Lodricar became weak and were killed by Khali. The war left a warning for all who challenged the will of Khalidor. The fear of the Lodricaron Crusade were instilled into the minds of many and war did not face the nation for over one hundred and eighty years.

Although credited for modernizing the military and becoming the most famous Godking in history, next to Roygarris, Draven left the economy in shambles. Taxes were raised from five percent to ten and new taxes were placed on nearly every trade throughout the empire. Due to the large number of conscription during the war, the nation became more heavily reliant on slavery to meet its needs. Nearly eight hundred thousand Khalidoran soldiers died in the war.

Khalidor's military is separated into three branches: The army, the meisters, and the Vanguard.

Khalidor's armies have long been a mixing pot of various tribes and kingdoms, each with theirs own unique flavor of soldier to add to the stew. Those who come from the the capitol and it's surrounding cities are the most distinct from other soldiers. Cloaked in metal armor and wool, these men are trained to fight as one. Alone they can be easily defeated, however, when together their formations and fighting styles make them dangerous to any opposition. They are armed with spears, shorts swords, javelins, throwing axes, and are know to bash with their shields.

Image

Rest of the army are made of of various soldiers across the empire. Highlanders are fast raiders from tribal lands. Ones that can travel farther running in a day than even a horse. They are used as scouts as well as in raiding parties.

Image

Wolf Warriors, called by most simply as wolves, are the berserkers. They fight on the front lines with the main bulk of infantry. Heavily armored they swing whatever heavy weapons they hold at the enemy.

Image

Skull warriors are from a tribe that is located in lands within the empire that is much fairer in climate than it's counter parts. It's culture has a hatred for magic from wizards or witches. So it trains warriors to counter magic and creatures of fey.

Image

After the it calmed a people known as the Hezar, Khalidor adopted their cavalry for their own. Heavy cavalry were equipped with long lances, heavy armor, and swift steeds. They used a lighter cavalry that were merciless raiders that could sweep villages in only a handful of minutes.

Image

Khali's Vanguard are an elite group of warriors formed by the successor of Roygarris, Godking Varren. All the warriors are of faint fey blood of various sorts. They are equipped with armor and shields made of Orichalcum, mithral chain shirts under the large plate armor, and armed with Ebony blades. Trained in both melee fighting and gifted with Vir, these soldiers are the finest of the empire. They are few, however, as they only guard the capitol and act as the Godkings bodyguards.

Image

While the infantry are the spine of Khalidor's military, meisters are the bread an butter. From the days of Varren to Wanhope their numbers have increased significantly. They make up the artillery, the intelligence, the healers, the officers, and the support of the military. In a way the army is simply cannon fodder for the meisters while their Vir is put to use against the enemy.

Image

Due to its long history of civil wars, much of the Khalidoran military is located within the country to keep order and to maintain its borders. Regulations and permanent laws are kept to assure that there is always a large military force stationed within the country. About 40% of the army is defending and nearly 70% of the meisters are stationed throughout the nation

Army- 500,000 strong.
Meisters- 5,000.
Khali's Vanguard- 1,000 strong. (All of which are focused on the capitol except for ten, who are guarding the Godking.)

Religion of Khalidor

Image

Religion dominates every aspect of life in Khalidor. It is a monotheism. They believe in the Goddess Khali, for which their nation is named from.

In Khalidor the existence of their goddess is not a belief, but a fact. She provides the Godking with magic in the form of Vir, which he then distributes it to others known as meisters (those who use Vir). Vir provides magic to those who normally would not and is stronger then normal magics, but causes stress to the body when used. Because of this hierarchy even the Godking's status is below that of Khali. Making it a theocratic/despotic government.

In Khalidor, most consider it a mission to indoctrinate all others into the faith, mostly by force. As such the nation will often create crusades to sweep are region and assimilate to Khalidor. Once the region is firmly at hold, indoctrination begins.

When Khalidor indoctrinates a large population to the faith they block out any idea of reliogion besides theirs. They use fear and force to make the person accept the faith and submerges the subjects entire world with only Khalidoran influences. They do this for the conveerts entire life and their offspring and so on until eventually the children and/or grandchildren are devoted to Khali. Thus they are bound to the faith because not only is the influence of Khali involved in their everyday life, but they are also ignorant/hostile towards any other faith. Other way is to introduce colonists to breed with the forced converts so the offspring will be indoctrinated quicker. The process is long and dragged out, but incredibly effective.

If one's devotion to her is strong enough, she deems them fit to go to paradise when they die. If, however, they do not their soul goes to the Void as punishment. Khalidorans believe that souls are trapped within the body until it is destroyed. Funeral Pyres are the norm, burials are made for heretics, and cannibalism is thought to forever trap the soul into another body such it is a grave crime.

Khali has many laws, among those these stand out:

- Do not kill, steal, or rape a follower of the faith.
-Spread the faith however possible.
-Do not create any image of me (Khali).
-Obey my right hand (Godkings), I speak through them.

There are two main holy cities in the country. The first is the capitol Khalidor where Roygarris was first founded the nation. Southeast from the capitol, past the holy river of Plith, lies the city of Khaliras. The city is sacred for it is there that Roygarris had been visited by the goddess for the first time. Nearly one third of the entire city is devoted as a massive temple/shrine. All followers of the faith are expected to make a pilgrimage to the city at least once in their lifetime.

Fort Falkland

If there is anything that Khalidor takes pride in it is two things: Their temples and their military. When they build a military stronghold they build it to last and pull through the tests of time. Unlike many nations that build a stronghold with only soldiers being held within and relying on a supply line, Khalidor makes them self sufficient, regardless of the immense cost.

Fort Falkland was originally proposed by Wanhope to the House of Markus shortly after he took power, but because of Drake City's lack of enemy's the proposal was shot down. It was not until Moloch came to power that the idea became a reality. Khalidor brought the supplies and manpower with their Tessarakonteres' to build their fort.

Image

The Fort is filled with nearly all the ethnic groups that make up the Khalidoran Empire. Goods of all kinds are created there and goods that would normally be banned for export, like alcohol, are sold in the market to whomever can trade for it. Those living in it call it the Jewel of Khalidor.

http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2013/ ... 6v59li.jpg

The defenses of the fort rely heavily on the earth wall and the secondary stone wall. Traps are laid all over and the moat is filled with Khalidoran diseases. Falkland guards use boiling oil, fire arrows, trebuchet fire, tower ballistas, burning orichalcum, and magic to propel their enemies. There are three gates that are reinforced oak plated with thick iron one after another as there is only one way in from the city. Armories are set all across the city, holding massive amounts of equipment in case of emergency.

Falkland is built to hold out against a siege that greatly outnumbers it's own population. The granaries are large enough to hold out for years without aid and wells have been created within the city walls. Storehouses hold thousands of tons of material in case the fort is blocked off from the outside world.

Cobblestone roads are paved between the tight spaces of the city, it's farms, and iron mine. To the center of the city lies a large castle built as a last defensive fallback. There, another stone wall surrounds it. A small granary, storehouse, blacksmith, and armory are housed within the central walls.

Population: 50,000

{b]Troop Count:[/b] Varies.
