The beginning of term feast is a longheld tradition at Hogwarts that goes back as far as anyone can remember. No one's really sure what to expect this year and attend with a slight sense of anxiety, but who'd miss the feast? The students have been travelling for quite some time and they're tired from the train, but this feast is tradition after all. Everyone attends. There's food for everyone of every type and the sorting is done. There's an introduction of one Teddy Lupin, come to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts. Everything seems absolutely normal.
That is, until the floor of the great hall falls through in a single small patch close to the headmaster's table during the headmaster's speech; a single patch looking suspiciously like a body. Through that hole jumps a flame tall enough to lick the ceiling, where it leaves a sooty sigil entirely unreadable to any person present.
Panic ensues.

I'll be putting a start post up on Sunday. We'll be beginning with the students' (save for first years who enter the castle by boat across the lake) carriage ride and finding the great hall, finding seats, and in general getting through that little bit of beginning tradition of the feast.
The feast will then go on as usual, you can have your characters socialize and converse and generally have a good time, that is, until our scheduled disaster takes place. I suggest most characters will be incredibly put off by the event and perhaps panicked.
However, this will be a key plot element later, and one student and one student only (who I will choose and PM the player of beforehand) will be able to read the sigil the fire leaves on the ceiling, and whether or not they decide to warn everyone else may be the turning point of how this roleplay progresses.
From there we'll delve into a little bit of normal Hogwarts life, although not for long as the next event scheduled will be soon after.
If you want your character eligible for my choosing of who will be able to read the sigil suggest you have your character up and done by Sunday, however we'll always be accepting more characters and this won't be your last chance for a special role in this roleplay; there will be many more.
