Cinnabar lies to the north, bordered by the Jarrah Empire and Valen Alus to the south, and The Republic of Khalidor to the northwest. Cinnabar is also largely surrounded by water; the Jade Ocean lies to the west, the Summer Ocean to the east and the Bay of Ice to the north.
In Cinnabar, the weather is mild, rarely is there a summer unbearably hot or a winter unbearably cold. Given the lack of extreme weather and its closeness to three bodies of water, Cinnabar is largely self sufficient when it comes to food. The mountains to the south of Cinnabar are home to the larger part of the vineyards. Cinnabar is well known for its wine. Given the self sufficiency of the nation, as well as the money made from trade, the people of Cinnabar live relatively comfortable lives. The majority of Cinnabar is urbanised, although its sheer size means that farms are still plentiful.
Seleny is the capital of Cinnabar, and lies just north of the Southern Mountains. Home to some 2 million people, the city truly comes alive during the festivals. During the various festivals, the people celebrate in the streets for days on end. When the calendar says 'Day of the Winter Festival', what it really means is 'that fortnight long celebration where people have a really good time and maybe light some candles, then carry on having a really good time'.
Cinnabar is home to many mages. For generations, families married into other families where magic ran strongly in both bloodlines, in the hope of cultivating ever more powerful mages. What actually happened was families ended up being made solely of those who could wield magic. The power level fluctuated mage to mage. Many mage families became the nobility of Cinnabar. The royal family have comprised solely of mages for the last 400 years, starting with Sten Funar who is considered to be the most powerful mage Cinnabar had ever seen, the most recent being Arim.
