Game Shut Down
Mr Litwak will only shut a game down if there is a problem with it. These issues tend to happen to very old games, or when a player reports a character missing, or not working properly. Initially he will place an out of order sign on it until it can be repaired, however if it cannot be repaired he will pull the plug and shut the game down. When this happens the world and everything and anyone in it will be wiped away as if they never existed. This can be avoided should the characters be evacuated out of their game, however. This will render them 'homeless.'
Disciplinary Council
The arcade has a disciplinary council that is formed of older arcade characters who have been elected by the general population. It is their duty (No laughing!) to keep the arcade running smoothly, fix any issues between characters, warn people of maintenence/upgrades/shut downs, as well as discipline wrong-doing.
Homicide
Killing another character is one of the most taboo subjects in the arcade. This is punishable by banishment from Game Central Station. (A character is not allowed to leave their game.)
Death
Should a character get injured or killed inside his/her game they will regenerate. However, if they leave thier game and get hurt they will need to seek medical attention, or head straight back to their game. If they are killed it is permanent and they will not regenerate. (See 'Game Shut Down'.)
Weddings
Weddings are indeed permitted within the arcade world. This is done through very strict screening methods. A couple must apply to the disciplinary council and state why they wish to marry and they are to be observed for a month by one or all of the council to see if they are suited. (This has been bypassed before by Fix It Felix Jr and Sgt Calhoun.) Once the coincil has agreed then the wedding can take place. It is usually held in the bride's game and works just like a real life wedding. However, the two must sign an agreement to not let it interfere with gameplay and to use code protection at all times. (See Code Protection.)
Sex ('Joining Code') & Reproduction
Sex is something that happens just like in real life, but it is heavily frowned upon to discuss it publicly. Sex must always be done safely with code protection and strictly between married couples only. Reproduction (See Branch Codes) is forbidden.
Code Protection
Code protection (Code Protectors) are much like contraception in real life. It isolates certain parts of the code and protects from the creation of Branch Codes. Code protection is required by 'law of the arcade' to be used every time a couple engages in 'code joining' and it is a big taboo not to use it at all. One or both parties must activate these protective protocols during the joining of codes for it to work properly. Some rogue coding/joining by-products can be so strong that they will bypass one protective protocol, which is why it is recommended that both parties use it.
Branch Code
A 'Branch Code' is what a baby is to us in real life. In the arcade world, however, a branch code occurs when two characters 'join code'. It is a by-product of the union. A 'Branch Code' develops inside the host as a string of rogue coding and eventually breaks off bit by bit. There is a high risk of the host being taken over by the branch code should the correct extraction methods not be in place. Once stable, the branch code is 'born' much like a human child. Since the branch code has no host game, it attaches and adapts itself to whatever game it is 'born' into. Since it is against arcade law to create branch codes, it is not uncommon for older members and council members to actively hunt down any branch codes they find out about and destroy them since they are a danger to their 'mother' and 'father's' games should they be seen by a player. However, some new generation characters are beginning to loosen up on the idea and are more accepting of them.
