The World Itself – The world had changed drastically ever since the Ventrus Uprising. Human population had declined rapidly and were forced to live in remote settlements where even there, they are threatened by the Ventrus. Looking at the sky, everything seems to be rather bleak and dark. This is due to the man’s attempts to block out the sunlight as the machines used to run on solar energy. At this stage, geothermal is now the main energy source for both sides though the Ventrus do have the Ventrisite.
Cyber Settlements – Cyber settlements are the main centers for Ventrus production. Once luxurious cities belonging to human settlers, it has long been modified by the Ventrus to serve as large-scale production facilities. Factories, warehouses and mining facilities can all be found here. Trains that run along the Oceanus Line are the chief means of moving around the settlements but the Ventrus have established checkpoints along the stations, making it difficult to travel using this once convenient line.
“Machine City” – At the very heart of all the networked cities is the once vibrant capital of human civilization, Elysium. Now known as “Machine City”, it is the strongest Ventrus fortress around this continent. It carries the same staples of all cyber settlements inhabited by Ventrus but in greater proportions. Surrounding the huge city is an equally large scrapyard where raiders occasionally salvage parts to use. All railways of the Oceanus line originate from here and end in here, with Ventrus outposts monitoring every train that goes in and out of the city.
Scrapyards – Ancient battlegrounds filled with leftover scrap from the Ventrus Uprising. While most parts that end up here are old scrap, there are occasional gems and usable leftovers, making these places appealing to raiders and engineers.
“Geartowns” – Human settlements that exist on the outskirts of the cyber settlement network, Geartowns are places where most people evacuated during the Uprising. While the conditions are pretty similar to an urban slum, these places are all capable of sustaining itself. Built near natural barriers like valleys, rivers, mountain paths and jagged passes, other common features of a typical Geartown includes farms, training grounds, forges and mines. Energy required for these processes are drawn geothermally and these places usually have an abundance of generators stocked in order to keep things running smoothly.
Acheron – A formidable Geartown east of Elysium. It is surrounded by tall, jagged rock formations that serve as a natural barrier protecting the residents from the Ventrus. Acheron is known for its huge deposits of iron ore; a vital resource for Edge Tech production. It fell when Lethe conquered it after it had just warded off a Ventrus attack in order to seize their iron ore deposits. It was rebuilt years after as the fortress base Charon.
Lethe – A Geartown north of Acheron, Lethe has a steady supply of food and geothermal energy but is rather poor in iron resources. They invaded Acheron for this reason and took it by force, allowing them to expand their operations even more. This Geartown boasts the largest population out of the five near Elysium.
Styx – Home of the “Raiders”, an enigmatic group of Cyber Edges who regularly infiltrate the scrapyards around the border of Elysium. Although small, this Geartown is heavily fortified and their possession of a functional train greatly helps in securing resources.
Cocytus – No information available.
Phlegeton – Domain of the shadowy pirate organization. No information available.
Reminder: Phlegeton and Cocytus are empty right now but, this doesn't mean that your character couldn't come from there. If you have your own ideas on what these Geartowns are like then feel free to suggest it. I'm all ears.
