Are loli's playable here?

I know some sites don't allow you to play as them, for whatever reason. It's just well..they ARE popular in Japan in used a lot in anime...even games and as a canon player it annoys me a bit when sites restrict the kind of characters you can play. I'm not even talking for mature rps either. Granted lolis aren't my favorite but there are some I just find really funny (Like Squid Girl x3) and would like to play them but I just find it odd.

Now that I think on it, I know why...but it's still odd. I guess Japan just thinks of it differently, not that I am Japanese I just watch too much anime :P

Loli comes from lolita complex, a euphemism for pedophilia derived from Vladimir Nabokov's book. I do not believe gateway condones roleplays with explicit content like this, according to rule #3:

No obscenity.
We require everyone to maintain common sensitivity. This includes:

No racist, bigoted, or excessively vulgar or distasteful language.
No cybering on any portion of the site, even in non-public areas.
No explicit pornography.

I do not think there are rules against roleplaying as young children, however, or adults with childish bodies.

I'm not sure why you would think this site prohibits roleplaying as young children, be your depiction of them an anime screencap or not.

I was just curious really. ^^ Well because BlueMoon forums and other sites restrict it and I'm under the mind set of "Playing whatever character you want," kinda thing ^^

It is for this exact reason that roleplays with the descriptors "yaoi" and "yuri" are banned: The terms primarily refer to explicit sexual conduct between two individuals of the same gender. The issue here isn't that there's a homosexual relationship going on here, but rather the fact that the writing is going to get hot and heavy.

There's nothing stopping you from playing as a child character, just don't get that scarlet letter A on you.

But shoujo-ai is fine? If we're discussing the techinal terms of each, even though mature rps are allowed. (Not that I really care for writing out a sexual post, it just seems like a waste of a post to me, that's why I left F-list.)

I feel like the nitpick brigade nowadays. Let's get this straight:

Shoujo ai (maiden/girl love), in Japan, is just another synonym for attraction to underage females, i.e. pedophilia again. It is not what shounen ai is to yaoi. This use was popularized by the early yaoi scanlation groups, back when the yuri genre had no dedicated scanlators of its own. It's a Western invention.

Yuri is the catch-all term for romance stories between two females, whether worksafe or explicit.

Blacklisting yuri as a tag just reinforces this erroneous distinction (perpetuated primarily by online manga readers). Are you sure that's even still done, qb? I can't find it in the rules.


(And for the record: it's perfectly fine to create roleplays revolving around same-sex relationships, or introduce them in your regular roleplays, so long as it's kept classy and child-friendly.)
