Oh, please not another one of these. If it's coding you're wanting to test, you're better off using a dedicated BBCode previewer or Google docs instead of clogging up server space in the site.

There's still other parts of the site that can be used to preview it. The messaging systems on both forums and PMs have preview buttons so you can see what the code would look like.

Regardless, it still takes up space on the site. You can always submit your character and go back and forth with editing. Sure it's not the most convenient but these storage roleplays make it hard for new players to find RPs to join and it clutters the sites storage space.

Also you can always just do the coding on the sites Templar recommended, yes it does not preview massive CS but whats wrong with just previewing one half, saving it and then doing the other? Just a suggestion.

I know what you mean as I do really long CS as well, but like I mentioned, I do the first half then the second. It's not convenient but it works.

Can you please not bother people for creating a storage roleplay? Telling them to view it on the forums isn't a good idea, because the forums often squish up the coding and makes it look completely wrong. Viewing it on a website isn't the best idea either because the website might use a different version of bbcode.

It also isn't making it harder for new players to find a rp. If you take literally one glance at the front page, most of those roleplays have been there for three or four days. That's all the time in the world to get into a new roleplay, since this storage roleplay was only just added today.

It isn't bogging down the sites storage space either. Can you guess how many dead roleplays there are out there? 'Cause I can assure you there are more of those bogging down the site than there will ever be of storage roleplays.

As long as Satyr is not breaking site rules, then they are allowed to do whatever they like, whether you personally find it rude or not. Now the discussion ends here.

Regardless, unless the actual owner of the site prohibits or deletes storage RP's it's none of your business to preach to her about keeping the sanctity of the front page. Side note, it's not hard to click on the next button to find a role-play one might like. Please excuse yourself out.

Whilst I don't personally employ character storages, I understand why many would. Concerns regarding Gateway's availability in space are valid. However, storage RPs are not the primary issue. Instead, it would be more prudent to remove earlier RPs with minimal to no traffic. Many fail to kick off even in the OOC, much less in the submission of characters or posts; some due to lack of interest and others the inactivity of the GM. In fact, new members are much more likely to be confused by inert RPs than they are to be by storage ones.

Furthermore, the prevalence of storage RPs should allude to a growing need for them. Gateway's application of character sheets is what makes it effective and unique. Complex coding and graphics are gaining momentum, and if anything, inform the possibility of a space where users may preview or submit characters. Rather than criticising them, or sometimes just insulting, we should observe that storage RPs do exist, and ask how we may meet this shift in Gateway's dynamic.

That being said, none of us our moderators or administrators. Should we find fault in an occurrence as common as storage RPs, we should bring it up to those who make the rules, instead of targeting individuals.

I do agree there are many dead roleplays, I was merely trying to state there are other ways to work on coding.

However storage has been an issue for the site. I think it was in August the site failed for such a reason.

The site could have failed for a multitude of reasons. Like Capra said earlier, dead roleplays take up a lot more space than storage roleplays. If anything, it would be the fault of those roleplays not truly being removed from the sites storage space, then the fault of the storage rps. They have only recently become a thing, and it's because people actually find a need for them, like Layla has already said. I think it's best if the discussion ends, we've already worked this out, and we don't need to scare Satyr away with this.
