These are the specialties that students can choose to go into based on the set amount of skills that they come in with. They may only choose one specialty to associate themselves with. Think of it much like a major. Keep in mind the dynamics between specialties are not always friendly. Granted, the support and analysis departments get along quite well, frequently working together for the sake of operations, our ops departments are often unappreciative of their work. Our field ops students have also been known to look down upon our cyber ops agents, claiming they’re not “real” spies. As for our technology department, those students tend to ignore the drama in favor of their own work.
ANALYSIS
Similar to our field ops students, cyber ops students are what one considers to be “on the ground” agents, following through with operations. The main difference, however, is that almost all of their work is accomplished online. As the world is advancing, so must our technology. These students also learn to develop technology to support our operations and create for the future of the intelligence community. Our cyber ops students take courses in hacking, coding, engineering, software, weapons, language, and other applicable areas.
Considered “the jocks” of Deerfield, those in field ops are preparing for a life off the grid. These students are never afraid to get their hands dirty and would never be caught stuck behind a screen. Gaining knowledge they can utilize in any situation, our field ops students are jacks of all trades. They are trained in martial arts, infiltration, culture, language, interrogation tactics, weaponry, and more.
Our field ops students would be nothing without our support department. While ops is on the ground, support is constantly connected, making sure to update agents on their surroundings and any surprises they may encounter along the way. These students are also trained in the art of emergency medicine in case the need ever arise. They work closely with our analysis students as well and take classes in language, communication, culture, and geography, amongst others.
