False Convictions

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Aelita on Wed Mar 05, 2008 9:21 pm

The kingdom of Anari is very well known for it's harsh justice and wanting to get the job done as quickly as possible. Due to this there are many innocent lives that get ruined simply because they were at the wrong place at the wrong time. The kingdom goes by the code "Eye for an Eye" and they seem to like it. The village fears the justice of it's kingdom just because of this so when someone gets hurt or starts yelling about getting something stole from them everyone flee in a state of panic. When a guard comes through on patrol or for any reason they may be there villagers cower and bow or hide in their homes or behind food stands.

When the king gets a complaint of something minor or even something really big and important then he will order his guards to find who they think did it or have reason to believe but will only guess. They will not actually go in depth on their search to find the culprit instead they get their search over quickly, punish the person they chose, then let them go free.

The kingdom is so strict on their laws that only certain things are legal. Before they go out to market or get payed they have to be made legal. Such goes to things like selling a particular item or giving a service. One must go to the castle and request a license to do whatever it is they want to do and every month they have to get it renewed. If one does not get a license and sales their product or gives their service then they will be punished for 'stealing' from the kingdom. In this case it is a random punishment depending on what the person was selling or what their service was.

There is a central market in the village and the houses are built around it in a circle. In the middle of the market is a medium sized fountain that was beautifully constructed out of white stone and emeralds. The markets were scattered everywhere in the tight area and random things were being sold at each one. Most food stands are placed to the south of the rest and are easily seen, or smelled.

A small bio would be nice:

Aelita set down a drink and plate of food in front of the newest customers. She had noticed earlier that there were more guards in the village than normal so someone was probably getting into big trouble. The couple thanked her and started eating as she left them be to tend to the counter where people paid for their food. Her co-worker took over the waitressing for her since there were only three people working there that morning. With the time to think she wondered who the guards were looking for. This restaurant was pretty popular so she didn't doubt that their would be some unwelcome visitors.

(didnt wanna b rude XD)

A large man burst through the door holding a chain in his left hand. The man was dressed in Luxurious clothes fit for a royal, but he did not hold attention. What the eye was drawn to was the beauty attached to the chain by the collar around her neck.
She stumbled slightly, and received a swift jerk on the chain that sent her nearly sprawling to the floor, Silver hair billowing out like a sheet behind her. Her indigo eyes blinked heavily, but she showed no reaction as she deftly followed the big man inside.
The big man began making large gestures, strutting about like a vain peacock, all the while dragging Her around with him. He was telling some story or another about who the guards were after, how he knew this, where others could get similar information, and the like. She, however showed no emotion in those hypnotic eyes, following him and his grand gestures wherever he moved.

Aelita noticed the man who had entered and was immediately wary of him. She moved from her post to where the man was now standing. Hearing the story as she moved up to him she rolled her eyes then stood next to the huge man and his slave. "Excuse me, can I help you with anything?" She asked politely but was extremely bothered by the fact he had a slave, especially in the restaurant just flaunting her around like she was some kind of trophy. It sickened Aelita and she couldn't help but despise this man and all others like him.

Elise was a sweet young women, trapped in a life of misery. She had been forced into the entertainment business after the loss of her mother at a young age and not knowing who her father was. She was an intelectual, but was stuck in a never ending cycle. She spent a lot of her time at one specific food place, she loved it there. She never felt judged.

Elise: To Aelita What's going on here, things seem more tense than usual.

Aelita turned to see Elise and smiled. "Oh, it's something about guards being after someone. I am more worried about this guy though." She said motioning to the giant man behind her.

Tarren was enjoying a drink too. He was supposed to be out looking for someone, but seeing as he was captain of the guard he really didn't have too. A very large man, some sort of royalty came with a slave on a chain. Tarren owned slaves, of course. He had to have his land worked. However, he treated his slaves more like servants that he employed, and sometimes closer. A few of his slaves were some of his best friends. Tarren would even give his slaves some money and let them go into the market and get whatever it is they want without an escort or anything with complete confidence that they would come back. Yes, he treated them well and after a few years in service he would buy their freedom papers and get them started on a new life by buying them a small house and offering them a job. Yes, they would end up with the same job except they'd just be free while doing it.

This form of slavery was, however, cruel. Tarren couldn't figure out if this girl was the large man's sex toy or if he just wanted to show off her beauty by making her wear next to nothing and pull her around like a dog. It always sickened him. Tarren got to his feet and took off his captain's badge. To anyone who didn't know him he was simply another man of no importance. He walked over to the large man with the chained up girl and pulled out a large pouch of money, "I will give you this for the girl."

"No, she's one of my best. She's not for sale, knave." The large man started to turn away but Tarren reached out and grabbed his shoulder.

"I thought you might say that. I would suggest you take the money as opposed to the alternative," Tarren showed the large man a knife that was still tucked into his belt. Only the large man and the girl could see it, everyone else was oblivious. "Take the money, or I'll simply find you and take her from you myself."

Elise is a very observant woman, yet she has never seen this new man around before. This new man doesn't believe that anyone can see the knife, but she can. She doesn't protest, she thinks this arrogant scoundrel is getting what he deserves. She hopes that this new man will be able to help this poor woman.

Elise: To Aelita Who is this man? AsideOnce he's finished and things settle down, I will approach him.
