Biography: Raff was born in Ireland and was raised at a coastal village. After being pressed into the British navy, Raff jumped ship in the Caribbean. In the British navy Raff served on the night watch and as a boarding party member, so Raff has good night vision and is skilled with pistol and blade. Since leaving the Fledging he returned to Ireland with Caesar and used his share of the gold to start and fund a rebellion. One of the first English regiments to face Raff's Rebels were a Black Watch unit from the Scottish Highlands. After defeating the outnumbered Scots, Raff received the beaten colonel's Basket-hilted claymore and the regimental colors. He now carries the sword with a promise to free Scotland and had the colors entombed with the men of the Black Watch. About a year later, Raff and a small company of guards were ambushed transporting a good deal of Raff's gold by English Dragoons and a infantry regiment. Raff took a saber cut down the left side of his face, through his left eye and he fell. A few men carried him off the field and fled. As Raff healed, word of his death spread and the rebellion was crushed without him. When he could walk again, Raff sent the other leaders into hiding and left Ireland again to find the Fledging and her captain, Elizabeth McCay Darson.

Notable relations: James MacLeod (lover), Raff Kelly (friend), Elizabeth Darson (friend/captain), Caeser Grent (friend), Abercrombie MacLeod (nemesis),
Biography: Richelle was born the eight child (and only daughter) of a blacksmith and his wife. She was trained in the arts of ladyship by an aunt that married well, but was instead attracted to the life of a pickpocket. She became quite skilled in the art, but her parents eventually had enough of meetings with constables and she was shipped out to live with an uncle. But the ship she was on was wrecked in a hurricane, though she miraculously survived. It was here that her life truly began. She met and fell deeply in love with James MacLeod, and became a member of the good ship Fledgling, captained by Elizabeth Darson (both individuals being survivors of the storm). They discovered the Seven Cities of Gold, became exceedingly rich...and then James was arrested by his own brother. Richelle spent the next two years attempting to get him free, and finally succeeded, with the assistance of her friends, on the day he was meant to be hung. However, she had the great misfortune of discovering a scroll, hidden away inside a staff. Upon touching the scroll, which turned out to be a map to the legendary city of Elkab, she became the recipient of the curse of a Raksasha, and now must reach Elkab if she is to survive.
