Re: Warning About Communist-Inspired Upheaval and Revolution

Tips: 12.50 INK Postby Tanker72 on Mon Aug 31, 2020 2:34 pm

I'm someone who lives in Russia, and has thoroughly studied various Communist nations with different historical profiles (the USSR, Yugoslavia, East Germany, Cuba and Vietnam) when doing my degree in political science.

The USA is nowhere near a communist upheaval. If someone's asking for more black rights, they're not a Communist, because that's racial identity politics. If someone's trying to get more benefits as to rely on them instead of working, they're not a Communist, because they're against work as an institution (I mean, it was illegal to be unemployed or to shirk work in the USSR and other East Bloc countries). If they're against having an army, they're not Communists, because they're opposed to a people's army defending the revolution. If they're against guns, they're not Communists, as Marx himself said that under no pretext should the workers be disarmed If they're asking corporations for more inclusive recruitment, they're not Communists, because they don't want to dissolve private companies.

There are actual Communists in the USA, but they're a tiny speck of the population. What you're afraid of are "progressives", or "leftists" in the Leninist meaning of that term.

No one is scared of Leftists or Progressives. Certainly not the Right. No one is saying that people can't ask for more rights. That's not at all what anyone said, but you've put words in the mouth of people that said no such thing. Before you say you didn't, you used this sentence: "What you're afraid of are "progressives", or "leftists" in the Leninist meaning of that term."

People are sick and tired of the hypocrisy of the generalization being made toward certain groups, ethnicities, or what have you. It's always ALL WHITE PEOPLE or ALL POLICE OFFICERS, yet it's never ALL BLACK PEOPLE or ALL BROWN PEOPLE, or ALL LIBERALS. One moment pepper-spray is not okay for someone to use lethal force, then the next day it is okay to use lethal force for pepper spray. It's the fact that certain groups are dragging people out of their cars and beating them near to death, but then you're not allowed to defend yourself. It's that certain groups have escaped justice for almost beating someone to DEATH with a bike lock. It's ignoring that police brutality effects ALL RACES (if you need examples of white people that are handcuffed yet still shot to death by a police officer, I can link them here). Certain groups are literally DOXXING people over social media and getting them fired for freedom of speech. What would you call that?

It doesn't matter what side you are on, but you can't be a hypocrite. I know people that are left, right, centrist - and they are all cool people. I think what's really happening right now is social media and the fact that news has become incredibly biased - they either take this side or that side. People on social media do not adequately represent people in real life. I spoke to a black guy yesterday, and we laughed and made jokes and lamented over the obnoxiously tiny bathing suits they make for girls because we were both trying to find one for our little girls. No harm, no foul.

Both sides are claiming this and that, and both sides are pretty biased in their own right. It doesn't help that people are hijacking causes to further their own agendas. It doesn't help when people with huge platforms are advocating for destructive ideals, openly calling and joking about presidential assassinations, talking about "fuck the United States", and this and that. People with large platforms are aggravating things - and that is on BOTH sides.

I feel that people have stopped listening to each other. You can see it everywhere now - black only graduations, all white people should kneel during the national anthem, a list of demands for white people OR ELSE. Yet, we are ignoring the fact that MANY innocent lives have been lost during this fight for justice.

We are also quick to trust the media without realizing that they are no longer telling truths, rather pushing agendas of their own. Whether it's Fox News, CNN, or MSNBC, they give their audiences what they WANT TO HEAR instead of what should be told. The truth is - maybe both sides, no matter where you stand, are being lied to in some way. We are talking about how black people get shot by the police, yet when you ask someone if they've seen footage of white people literally on the floor in handcuffs being shot in the back of the head by a police officer, they will say they've never even heard of it.

Is it true that America still has a lot to work on regarding social justice? Yes, of course. We are a diverse salad of people all mixed together. It's hard for all ethnicities to accept each other, and it's not just white people against the world. It's everyone against each other. I married into a Hispanic family, and when the in-law's family comes down from Mexico, they say really, really awful things about Native Mexicans. They say bad things about black people. They tip-toe around saying things about white people because I am white and they don't want to offend me. When I went to an all black high school in Columbus, Georgia, I heard black people talk badly about different shades of black people. My husband works in a school with Hispanics and Blacks, and he says there is gang warfare between those two cultures.

It's time we stop talking about white people against the world because that's just not true. It's time to talk about how all people of all colors are against other people. You may tell me that it's not true, call me racist, say that I am doing some logical fallacy of some sort - and I don't pretent to be a philosopher or politically competent, but I do know what I have experienced. I have experienced racism (and I wouldn't even call it racism, but I will just say that here since the term seems to have grown), in ALL ethnicities. Slavery has existed in races other than white people. Since the dawn of time, really. Racism has existed since the dawn of time. Sexism has existed since the beginning of time.

We have a lot of problems in this world, but both sides are being lied to. Everyone is being lied to. Social media makes it easy to not have to think for ourselves anymore. Moreover, it is election time in America, so it's about that time for everyone to be terribly polarizing.

Lastly, as someone who has worked EXTREMELY hard in life, and married to someone with equal work ethics (well, higher than mine, really), it's hard for me to agree to more taxes. I came from NOTHING as a white person. I ate that nasty noodle packet... I forget what it's called... meat helper something... but WITHOUT THE MEAT at least five times a week. I remember wearing the same clothes throughout my high school years, no new clothing, shit that had holes in it - while people around me that had parents WITHOUT jobs somehow had more than me. I believe in hard work. I believe that hard work is hard because that's how it is supposed to be. My mother-in-law is a first-generation Mexican that also came from nothing, yet she makes over 100K (in California, mind you) while going to school and raising three boys. I don't believe in hand-outs, and I wish more people would see that less as I don't want to help people, and more that I think you should teach a man to fish so he will have food rather than just give him a fish so he can have food for one day. I believe in individualism and collectivism, so long as that collectivism doesn't mean that I have to give things to people that don't want to put in ANY work. I don't think people SHOULD NOT have welfare, rather I believe that people should have SOME KIND OF JOB, even if it is just part-time, to collect. I work fucking hard for money - between raising kids, a husband that is never home, going to school full-time - why should someone who doesn't want to work at all have an easier life than me?

ANYWHO, that's my rant. I likely went off topic, but whatever.

No one said that people don't have the right to ask for anything. I think that people should stop rushing to judgments. I didn't even watch the video because I don't like extremes of any side, right, center, or left. No one has a problem with kneeling, PEACEFUL protest, etc. because my first husband died in war for that right, and so have many of my friends when I was in the Army. I think that people are seeing the worst on each side because that's all the media and social media pushes, and that has to stop. With all my friends, Centrists, leftist, the right - we all have a few things in common more than we have in differences. Like Liberalism, conservativism also progresses (I know that sounds crazy, or maybe I am more of a centrist and I don't know it).

I'm not sure what type of conversation you are trying to have by posting a video with no context, but as a member of the Council of High Intelligence and Education Findings (C.H.I.E.F), I can assure you that this is not fact, it.

I can't view the video because it says it's now unavailable, but just from the title of this topic alone ... I have to say, the idea that a group of Communists (who are actually a very small group in the US - as opposed to the broader socialist group, which is actually distinct from Marxist-Leninists specifically) will actually overthrow the US government is pretty laughable, given the staggering size of the US military and policing apparatus.

I'm a leftist (not a liberal, and not a progressive - these words all have different specific meanings in today's political world), and what that means to me is fighting for a world where all people's intrinsic value is actually respected and honored - by each other in our own neighborhoods and communities, and writ large, at the societal and cultural level. Unfortunately, there are plenty of people out there who believe that the ideas that all people deserve to live freely and safely and that all people have fundamental human rights are somehow too radical and scary. These shouldn't be radical ideas. But when they are perceived as radical ideas, threatening to status quo, (e.g. the idea that one group suddenly having more rights necessarily means another group has to have less rights, instead of recognizing that we all deserve more rights) ... upheaval becomes inevitable. To that point, as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, "Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed."

And thank you, too, it's great to be able to have an actual discussion, without the cr*p-flinging one can get from political arguments on other platforms.
