Gabriel continued to smoke as the man on the other end of the screen issued the tight orders. With an inhale he reactivated the systems of his crouched Aries and replaced the lancer on the recharge rack before lifting off.

Gabriel entered the camp as the Tallgeese II errupted from near by trees. With a quick tap of a few keys the Aries swung around with the beam lancer lit ready for battle. His comms opened up again.

"You have been given a direct order. Dissengage your weapons and exit the suit."

Gabriel raised a brow and gave the man a look wondering if he seriously thought he could stop him if he tried, but he took another massive drag before dicing the cigarette on the palm of his right hand and nodded to the soldier. If their leader got killed it would be their own fault. Gabriel replaced the lancer and deactived all the systems in the Aries, as well as ensure voice activation was enabled. He may have been recruited, but he was still cautious.

Gabriel lept from the hatch on the knelt Aries and landed on the ground. He adjusted the sleeves of his shirt and cracked his neck before removing another cigarette. As he lit it up an officer approached him. He looked Gabriel up and down as he shoved a hand in his pocket and leaned on the grey leg of his mobile suit.

"No smoking in the base."

The officered ordered sternly and made a move to take the cigarette out of his mouth. Gabrile had his glock to the mans forehead as he finished extending the arm.

"Den I guess you are going to 'ave to make an acception to de rules."

The officer growled and drew his weapon as well. Three other soldiers in the vacinity readied their rifles. Gabriel cocked his head and let his hand go limp so the glock was held by his trigger finger on the left hand as it swung down. The officer removed it and holstered his own. He made a signal for the others to lower their weapons as well. Gabriel nodded.

"Den, I'll smoke off camp."

He turned and made his way back into the woods still smoking a cigarette. As he took a seat below a firm oak tree sounds of the battle were heard far off. He wondered if the Tallgeese was winning. Then there was a final shot from a dober gun and a long pause. He assumed the Tallgeese had been struck down, but there was one last shot from a dober and the Tallgeese shot upwards victorious. Gabriel rose his hand to shield his eyes from the sun as he took another drag awaiting it's return.

The glow of the still burning fire reflected from the sheen of the Tallgeese's armor. The occasional whining of metal errupted outwards from the movements of the suit as it turned away from the heap of scrap gundanium.

The soldiers, while still far enough away from the Tallgeese and the fire to prevent harm, still took refuge in the trees. The steps of the Tallgeese crushed any trees beneath it's feet as it returned back into the camp.

The soldiers stood from their places, all standing at full attention with a firm salute to welcome their peers and their Leader home from their victory. The Tallgeese settled once more in it's designated area, several mobile suit technicians advancing to begin the repairs and 'upgrades'.

The door that led to the cockpit area opened forth, producing the Leader as he stepped across it. His right hand reached out to the side, the zip line seeming to form into his grasp. A sudden leap from the cockpit sent the leader careening downwards by the tug of gravity, yet the tightened grip of his gloved hand would catch his weight and swing him widly outwards.

His grip released to drop him to the ground, his body tucking downwards into a crouch. He dropped his right hand, palm open and fingers spread, to the ground to assist his rise. The soldiers didn't bother to turn, yet stood as rigid as possible.

"At ease, men.", he spoke, causing each soldier to drop with their hands behind their back. The Leader turned away to face an officer as he ran up at his side. "Sir, your new recruit has arrived!", he had almost stammered.

"Tell him to report to my tent, immediately. We've wasted enough time with trivial battles.", he turned, cutting the officer off as he did all of the others. His hands swayed at his side as the cold stare of his eyes pierced all those that passed his path. He stepped past the folds of his tent, allowing them to easily glide from his shoulders as it shut behind him.

Gabriel sat at the tree and looked at the dying cigarette in his hands as a soldier came running up to him. The same officer who had told him to put out the cigarette. With a cold stare Gabriel looked him up and down.

"Please follow me."

The soldier asked through clenched teeth. Gabriel looked him up and down yet again and looked back at the cigarette. He took one last drag before flicking it into the woods. It would put itself out when it burned down to the filter. He rose from his position against the tree and followed the soldier back to the camp.

He entered the tent he was told to after a thorough pat down. Gabriel was brought face to face with the man that had been on his comm screen earlier. He had an air about him that demanded respect, yet his age showed that he should still be giving it. Gabriel nodded approvingly.

After Gabriel had left Blace's tent he made his way back to his Aries. With a smile he looked it over before making his way to the tent where he was told to stay.

Cries of pain and the sound of explosions woke Gabriel late in the night. His eyes jerked open just in time to see the roof off the tent coming down on him. His hand immediately flew up to the cross he wore upon his neck.

"Je suis vive pour toi, et maintent je suis mort pour toi."

Days later, everything was still. A small rock toppled from the pile where Gabriel's tent used to be. A tapped wrist erupted from the top of the mound. It found a strong hold and began to pull. Scrapes and bruises filled up the arm and the face. Gabriel's brown hair was pulled through the top of the pile first, then his vivid green eyes, followed by the rest of him. His left leg was bent at an odd angle and he was bleeding heavily from the right forearm. He grunted as he rolled down the side of the rubble.
Looking around he found what he was looking for. A heaping gray mass was toppled over near the edge of the camp.
"Aries...."
His week voice sounded as his left arm pulled him across the grass. After an excess of pain he was at his MS and pulled himself up on the chest with much difficulty before falling into the hatch. Gabriel's near limp and bleeding fingers found the controls and started up the defective suit. With a sharp buzz the Aries got to it's feet. Gabriel uttered a weak laugh as he grinned holding his side in pain. It hurt to laugh. With another few taps of the keys the Aries launched itself upwards and just barely broke orbit. Gabriel had enough strength left in him to ignite the thrusters and send him launching fore ward around the Earth. His heavy eyelids once again shut.
