On the continent of Xamoyos there are numerous species of animals, many of them prehistoric in nature. This thread is a showcase of every single one currently known. Credit for the artwork is to their original creators, I make no claim of ownership and am simply borrowing them for no intent on monetization. Name: Xamoyan Dragon

Wingspan: 50-60 ft.

Weight: 10-15 tons

Diet: Carnivore

Habitat: Mountains

Description: A species of dragon native to Xamoyos. They hunt in packs as juveniles, surrounding their prey and snatching them like eagles. As adults however they hunt alone or with a mate. They have powerful jaws, serrated teeth, and a hooked claw on their toes. There is also noticeable sexual dimorphism present, the males having red scales with crests above their eyes while females have turquoise scales and no crests.

Name: Xamotohermes

Length: 6-12 in.

Weight: 10-15 lbs.

Diet: Omnivore

Habitat: Mountains/caves

Description: A relative to the modern iguana but with wings. It behaves identically to its modern cousin but can now fly if it feels it is in danger. Surprisingly however they can be trained to act like messenger birds.

Description: A relative of the ancient Dimetrodon. It forms packs of at least 7 members to hunt.

Weight: 0.5-1 ton.

Diet: Carnivore

Habitat: Mountains

Descripton: A relative to the troodon. They have a neck frill they can open that functions as a display used for mating rituals or territorial threats.

Name: Xamonops

Length: 7-9 ft.

Weight: 1-1.5 tons.

Diet: Carnivore

Habitat: Mountains

Description: A relative to the ancient Gorgonopsids. They specialize in hunting smaller prey and have quills on their head. These quills rattle for both communication and intimidation, it may have even used them in mating rituals to impress females and to scare rival males.

Name: Quadropod

Length: 7-9 ft.

Weight: 1-1.5 tons.

Diet: Carnivore

Habitat: Mountains/prairies

Description: A strange theropod that walks quadrepedally instead of bipedally. This gives it extreme speed, comparable to the modern day cheetah. They hunt by blitzing their prey and biting it, making it bleed and waiting for it to succumb to its wounds. Its prefered prey are the Xamatoibex.

Diet: Herbivore

Habitat: Mountains

Description: Males use their strange curved horns as a sign of maturity and to intimidate rivals. Where intimidation fails brute force occurs and they fight using their nose horns until one backs down. When not fighting they are actually docile, the horns are merely an anti-predator deterrent.

Description: A species of ceratopsian with frill horns shaped curiously like thunderbolts. Extremely territorial, they will attack anything that gets too close.

Length: 5-6 ft.

Weight: 100-150 lbs.

Diet: Carnivore

Habitat: Mountains/cave

Description:A large reptile that is infact not a crocodilian but rather giant monitor lizards. They are known for their strange burp-like sounds to communicate over long distances. Highly agressive and seemingly endlessly hungry.

Wingspan: 10-20 ft.

Weight: 90-100 lbs.

Diet: Carnivore

Habitat: Mountains/caves

Description: A species of pterosaur. They communicate using a strange howling sound, hence the name. They hunt during the day and return to their caves at night. Like vampire bats they will share meals with individuals who failed their hunts during the day. They are at risk of being preyed on by Xamatojara.

Weight: 200-220 lbs.

Diet: Carnivore

Habitat: Mountains/skies

Description: A large flocking species of pterosaur. It has a powerful beak, sharp talons, and amazing eyesight. The spiky crests on its beak can change color depending on its mood. They hunt fish mostly by diving into the water and snatching it though they are not opposed to other sources of meat.

Name: Chasm lord

Height: 10-13 ft.

Weight: 1-2 tons.

Diet: Carnivore

Habitat: Chasm

Description: They are large reptiles that resemble insects, much like the prairie beetle. They are major scavengers and are preyed upon by most predators in the chasms of Xamoyos. The males have orange scales and gold armor whereas females have light blue scales and silver armor. Their mating rituals can be best described as a staring contest between the male and female. Bizzarely it is decided not by who blinks but rather if one of them drools within the 15 minute long contest. If neither drools then they pair and mate for a decade. They mate by wrapping the antennae on their head against each other for 5 minutes then let go and the female will lay a huge batch of eggs a day later.

Name: Xamoyan hermit crab

Length: 4-8 in.

Weight: 2-3 lbs.

Diet: Carnivore

Habitat: Chasms

Description: A species of Hermit Crab native to Xamoyos. Scavengers that eat whatever rotting meat they can find. They prefer to use skulls as their shells, replacing them regularly as they grow.

Wingspan: 2-3 ft.

Weight: 5-8 lbs.

Diet: Carnivore

Habitat: Chasms

Description: A winged marsupial related to the opposum. Scavengers who look for dead meat to feast on. They breed quickly as they are a favorite prey of the Xamoyan giant spider. Almost blind and with a poor sense of smell they rely on their sense of hearing to navigate.

Description: A large worm that likes to wriggle around in the mud. With no eyes it hunts by sound,it is so named due to the fact it eats meat by sucking it into its large maw.

Length: 4-8 ft.

Weight: 100-110 lbs.

Diet: Carnivore

Habitat: Chasms

Description: A large species of crab. The female is much larger and more agressive than the male. In a mating ritual a swarm of smaller males will pursue the larger female until they give up. The female will mate with the one who does not give up. After mating she will stun the male with her claws and leave him unconscious long enough for the offspring to feed on him alive.

Length: 2-3 ft.

Weight: 5-10 lbs.

Diet: Carnivore

Habitat: Chasms

Description: A giant species of carnivorous cricket. Mainly scavengers, they prey on the dead, dying, or vulnerable. They are powerful jumpers, able to leap 30 feet in the air. They are cowardly otherwise, fleeing from anything bigger than them.

Length: 9-10 ft.

Weight: 120-150 lbs.

Diet: Carnivore

Habitat: Chasms

Description: A large species of beetle native to Xamoyos. Natural rivals to the Xamoyan giant spider. They use their giant horn to tear apart prey and they eat whatever meat is available.

Name: Xamoyan giant spider

Width: 10-15 ft.

Weight: 120-150 lbs.

Diet: Carnivore

Habitat: Chasms

Description: Close relative to the black widow it is the apex predator of the Chasms, the Xamoyan giant spider can spin webs to wait for prey to get caught before moving in for the kill. If its prey somehow manages to escape the webs it will ambush them then jab them with its stinger, injecting a toxin that will induce paralysis for a brief period so that it may suck its prey dry.

Name: Jungle lord

Height: 4-5 ft.

Weight: 30-40 lbs.

Diet: Herbivore

Habitat: Jungles

Description: Very friendly reptiles that act like modern parrots. Males have gold armor, yellow skin, and a spike on their chin. Females on the other hand have silver armor, blue skin, and have no chin-spike. Their skeletons are very delicate and they have a strange mating ritual. The male will swing his head around in a circle to impress females before giving her a fruit. If she accepts the fruit it means she is interested and will mate with him.
