Personal History: Taylor was born as the sole son of Briggs the Brutal. Hated by many for having a terrible father, hated others for having a legacy to follow. Taylor grew up hating his life, his father, and the legacy he would have to follow. Even so, he followed his father, becoming a pirate and sailing the sea. His father trained him in every aspect of piracy; from steering the ship to mopping the deck. Briggs treated Taylor like any crew member, even resorting to beating him as punishment. When Taylor reached the age of 13, he was taught how to fight. He learned the general cutlass style but found a knack with shooting a flintlock pistol. Taylor continued sailing with his father as a deck hand until he was 18. At that point the ship navigator had attempted mutiny and was immediately killed. Briggs was left without a navigator, Taylor offered to take the position. Taylor was found to be a great improvement; keeping the ship out of tough weather and making routine trips shorter.
Taylor left his father's ship when he reached the age of 24. At that point he settled down in a small village and became a fisherman. He made a decent living and even tried his hand at gambling, proving to be more than adequate at winning. Here, Taylor realized that his destiny was to be a pirate; he had spent a few coins on a fortune teller, discovering a rather dreary fortune. He didn't appreciate the Fortune Teller's fortune and refused to believe her. A few days later the fish stopped biting, apparently there was over fishing in the area. He stopped fishing and gambled a little more than usual. He quickly exhausted everyone's funds, and ultimately nobody wanted gamble with him. He finally admitted his fault and marked himself up for hire as a navigator.

Most importantly; Taylor is in no way conceited or malicious!
