Introduction
Once, humans were the only beings to inhabit the Earth. They thrived and excelled. But then, sometime in the fourteenth century, the humans grew too power hungry for their own good. Determined to be more powerful, more intelligent, the humans created a rift between this world and the Other World. It did not turn out how they expected. The rift, once opened, could not be closed. And what it let in was far worse than anything they could have stood to gain.
The humans let in demons. It wasn't immediate, their knowledge of what had happened. In fact, it would be around seventeen years after the rift had opened, they would realize that the youngest son of the leader of their small cult was not entirely just himself. In fact, it was deemed that a demon had stolen the child's body, and killed the boy's soul. The boy, was, unfortunately, burned at the stake a few days later, after the cult managed to subdue the demon.
It was then that the cult became the Hunters; a group dedicated to killing off all of the demons they'd let cross over. And for centuries, they were effective. They branched out into other countries, and all across the world there were soon Hunters. Demons spread equally as quickly though, if not faster, leaving the Hunters behind often enough. The Hunters needed to think up new methods of capturing them. Because it was evident that around the demon's fifteenth birthday, their powers became active, and they could easily take out a small group of Hunters.
So they researched. They studied demons and they observed and they researched some more. And they wrote it all down in their archives, for by now, the Hunters had pooled their resources and managed to obtain a base for themselves in Southern England. What they learned though, shocked the Hunters. It turned out that the demons hadn't stolen the bodies of humans, destroying the soul that would have thrived in it. No. The demon merely coexisted with the host human's soul. So, all those centuries of killing demons, the Hunters had been actually killing humans.
Not that they cared. No. At this point, they'd been so caught up in their work that they didn't care. They let few Hunters know about the research, and locked it away, hiding it for centuries.
And so the new generations of Hunters are just as ignorant as the old ones. Despite it being several centuries ago, even in this modern era, the Hunters have no pity for demons. None whatsoever. Because they're not humans. They're demons.
They never wanted to be half-demon. They didn't ask for a constant second opinion living in their head. They didn't want to have incredible dark powers whenever they got angry. They just wanted to be normal. But they're not. And they'd be alright with that. If only Hunters weren't trying to kill them.
Emotions trigger them. Most of the time, a demon acts as a commentary on their lives. Chatting away in their heads, but providing no threat, no danger. They can't take control from a person who's thinking and sane, and not angry. No, they take control when the person is emotional. Heartbreak, fury, devestation. These negative emotions feed the literal demons inside of them.
And then the demons take over. Imagine being forced out of control of your own body. They can't control anything. They can't speak, can't move. Their body changes as well. They become more athletic, stronger, taller. Not only that, but it will completely morph, until it suits the shape of the demon. Be it male or female, the human's body will be completely changed into another form. A different body, so to say. And the human side is helpless as the demon wreaks havoc everywhere they go. Because until the demon is done, until its exhausted its energy, its in control. And that can last anywhere from an hour to a week, depending on the strength of the emotion it used to escape.
Demons aren't entirely bad though. While cruel, harsh and certainly evil, they don't want to hurt their human host. While in the head, they're not that bad, merely providing a slightly slanted view of the events. They are the host's closest friend usually, because of the inability not to be close. And they care about their host too. Usually when unleashed, their destructive powers are channeled at whatever caused their host pain.
