Introduction
But the story of this man has long been forgotten by now, except by those few who remember it.
In the year 2010, the Earth erupted. Volcanoes spewed lava from the earth, the continents shifted and rolled into one another; the face of the planet was entirely rewritten. For a time, the gods walked the Earth themselves, shaping it as they saw fit in the boiling chaos, and when they left, everything settled down.
Humanity has been crushed. In wake of the god-like catastrophe, only a billion humans find themselves alive, scattered across a foreign wasteland. Eventually they came together, formed villages and towns, and began to recuperate.
Our story begins in 2015, five years after the Cataclysm. People are surviving and exploring their new world as one might expect these humans to do and everything's normal about it, all things considered. But then, a small portion of humanity finds a new desire burning in their heart, an inexplainable, relentless desire that consumes them. Little do they know an epic adventure awaits them, as they have been chosen as the next to speak with the gods.
------------------
So there you have it folks! I'll switch out of the colorful language for now to get some of the logistics down. This is an extremely free form game, in more then one sense. As the story progresses, your character will discover new parts of the new world, and by 'discover', I really mean 'create'. At the end of this, your characters story line will help solidify the map they've been living on.
Now, free form stuff like this is hard, and lots of people will find themselves scratching their heads at this. So to help guide the process, each character will be sent on a quest with similar guidelines to each other. Similar, not the same. This roleplay 'ends' (so to speak) with your character communicating with a specific god, the desire to be spoken to is felt by your character throughout, though they don't understand until the story unfolds. Along the way they will be required to collect a relic of their chosen god, a weapon of their chosen god, and visit a shrine of their chosen god, as well as perform some tasks that put them in favor of their chosen god.
So, I've talked a lot about 'gods' and as they are an integral part of the story, I should say a few words about them. Now, when I say gods, I should also say that these aren't technically 'gods' in the religious sense. They are, specifically, extremely powerful beings that have total control over a specific realm of manipulation. Each realm of manipulation is associated with a school of magic which your character can learn. Thus, you can begin to see how progression can occur - Say a person's chosen god is the Fire god. They will begin with a heightened interest in fire, perform some ceremonial burning to put themselves in favor of the fire god, be enlightened as to where the fire god hid it's relic and weapon, retrieve them and bring them to the fire shrine, and finally communicate with the fire god. This is a bare bones breakdown of each characters plot, though it should be said that nothing is set in stone and nothing is as simple as it seems.
So maybe fire isn't your thing. Luckily for you, there's a school of magic and by association a god for everything you can think of. Which, apparently only number 24, because you have a limited brain capacity ;) SO here are the 24 schools of magic of which your character will have one innately born within them, a second can be learned with discipline, and a third can be learned if you're REALLY REALLY good at magic.
Anima - Schools of the Elements
- Pyromancy (Manipulation of fire or plasmas)
- Hydromancy (Manipulation of water or liquids)
- Geomancy (Manipulation of earthly materials or solids)
- Aeromancy (Manipulation of air or gasses)
- AEthromancy (Manipulation of void energy)
- Optikomancy (Manipulation of Sights)
- Audiomancy (Manipulation of Sounds)
- Cairomancy (Manipulation of Touch)
- Gefsiomancy (Manipulation of Flavor) (The senses of taste and smell have been combines for practicalities sake)
- Kleidomancy (Manipulation of Protection or Sheilds)
- Epoulomancy (Manipulation of Health or Rejuvenation)
- Enosiomancy (Manipulation of Union)
- Necromancy (Manipulation of Death)
- Hemeromancy (Manipulation of Mutations or Active Living Changes)
- Noisiomancy (Manipulation of Cognition)
- Astromancy (Manipulation of Astral bodies)
- Gaiomancy (Manipulation of plant-life or nature)
- Fortomancy (Manipulation of the Atmosphere or Weather)
- Oneiromancy (Manipulation of Dreams)
- Exorkomancy (Manipulation of Void Matter or Conjuration)
- Taxidomancy (Manipulation of Traveling or Moving)
- Technomancy (Manipulation of technology)
A few stipulations about your chosen school: Technomancy does not exist at this period of time. In wake of the Cataclysm, most useful technologies have vanished or been destroyed beyond repair. While some small remnants of technology exists, technomancy as a school will not until the roleplay progresses.
AEthromancy, Enosiomancy, and Noisiomancy will be initially off limits. What I mean to say here is that I'm not letting just anybody control the three most awesome schools in the system, you gotta be AWESOME about it. additionally, AEthromancy doesn't really make sense conceptually, so I'll probably be taking that one myself.
Also know that there is a limit of two people per school. I'm not going to put gender requirements on the characters involved, but I will ask that there be some girls scattered through here. (As I'm a male, I imagine mostly male characters for these roles, so it'd be nice to have some female counterplay)
---------------------
A bit about setting and what the world is like now.
The gods have erupted volcanoes, torn up continents and shoved them wherever they pleased, exposing molten rock and reshaping the world. Some larger cities managed to survive, covered in ruble from the falling buildings, but mostly intact. Of the worlds largest cities, the following remain in tact in some way or form:
Las Vegas
Chicago
Mexico City
Cairo
Moscow
Bejing
Berlin
The rest of the largest cities are assumed to be destroyed. Smaller towns and cities can have survived, but these are few and far between. Also keep in mind that these cities are by no means in the same place you're thinking of. Everywhere else in the world has been reclaimed by nature, but many different environments exists (Think desert, jungles, forests, mountain ranges, valleys, molten wastes)
Sorry for the small developments here but I gotta eat eventually! :) More information coming later, and a character outlines in the OOC go check it out!

Physical appearance:
Mental appearance/personality:
School of magic: (Or none)
Spirit Animal:
Survival tactics: (Keep in mind here this is an earth torn by gods. Your character's survived and presumably has the wherewithal to hunt/forage for food and such.)
History: (What was your character doing before the cataclysm? Where were they? What'd they do between the cataclysm and now?)
Alright that oughta do it for now. I'm going to start writing about how survivors have organized since the cataclysm and give some idea of what the terrain looks like.
