#, as written by Jayx
"no, you're wrong." Jayx muttered irritably, sighing and lying down in the grass. It itched against her skin, yet at the same time felt cool compared to the hot weather that had been plaguing the city recently. Her eyes trailed from the brilliant, emerald glow of the tree tops as the setting sun bathed them in its last shards of illumination-to the speckle of sherbet covered clouds-and finally to the small patch of persistent azure that refused to fade to darkness until the absolute last minute. She stared fixedly at that spot until she began to see those tiny translucent bubbles. She tried to focus on them with all her energy, however, no matter how much will she had, the headache soon followed and she was forced to blink and look away.
I am correct. He replied confidently. Jayx merely shook her head.
"No, no, no- I'm positive!! They're really there-and I'm not the only one to see them too!! I've asked others, and they see the same thing!"
And you have not considered that perhaps this is simply a human defect? That others see those spots because they are also human and the construction of their eyes are the same-incapable of perceiving such a vast expanse.
"I'm not incapable of perceiving anything, It's right there-the sky-the universe-a supposedly infinite...something. Anyway, clearly I can comprehend it, so it's there. Therefore, the spots have nothing to do with any "human defects", they're there alright, and the only reason we can't see them at any other time is because they're translucent- lookin' up, like i'm doing now-just happens to be the perfect angle-but still I can only see glimpses of them."
Fine. Then, supposing your theory is true-what do you think they are?
Jayx sat up, shrugging, a small smile on her face. She glanced around briefly, realizing that the park was almost completely deserted. She recalled that, as a general policy, the park closed at sunset; which was a real shame, it was so beautiful at this time of day.
well? he asked, expectantly. Finally Jayx gave a small laugh, shrugging again.
"I dunno-but I like t' think they're fairies...."
Fairies?! You're serious?
"Of course I am! Anyway, I don't wanna talk about it anymore-we've been through this and no matter what neither of us are going to give in. Let's just call it a truce, alright?" Jayx said, staring up at the sky, however, this time much lower, more directed towards the tree tops again. Her eyes had glazed over and were now looking at something in her own mind's eye, rather than in front of her.
If you insist. He said, sounding amused.
Jayx stood, brushing herself off and gathering her bag, slinging the strap over her shoulder and inhaling the sweet scent of dusk. The light was fading quickly now and she knew she only had so much time before it became completely dark. She grimaced, for once regretting she didn't have her cell phone with her; the park's sun dial was useless now that shadow had enveloped its entirety.

She began walking, starting at a reasonably quick pace, but slowing as her mind began to wander again, as it always did when she was alone. The sounds of crickets and other nightlife began to fill her ears, and she relished the sound that could scarcely be heard anywhere else in the city. She halted for a moment, taking in her surroundings, she didn't see why she was in such a rush, her curfew was until nine, and it couldn't be later than 7..8 at the most. She had reached the turn before the exiting gates-once out there, she would be greeted by reality once more, as city life took its firm hold. It was astounding, how such a small area, could feel so far away from the city it was enshrouded by. If only-
Look out.
Before Jayx could react she felt something pelt against her head with tremendous force, knocking her off balance and to her knees. Her head ached horribly at the impact and for a moment she was incapable of movement as a result of shock. Finally, she blinked, recovering enough to look around for the source of such severe and sudden pain. Her eyes rested on the only object in her line of vision-a Styrofoam cup. She stared at it stupidly for a moment, then crawled over to it. What was in it, a brick?! she thought, picking it up. It was completely empty, and a little bent in. Incredulously she gaped at it, how could such a thing as a cup be thrown at her with such force!? And by who?
That thought caused her to leap to her feet, staring around wildly, but no one appeared to be there-or rather, no one appeared in the illumination of the lamp light near by...
She almost laughed as she glanced down at it again, then made a motion to toss it, but froze, on impulse placing it in her bag.
No way you're hittin me again. She thought irritably, as she strode out of the park.
