Introduction
Most of the time, it is better to look at bridal sets. This is because you will get a better price, buying the engagement, and the wedding ring at the same time. This also enables you to make sure you have a matching set to fit together nicely. Sometimes people buy just the engagement ring, to find out later, that they cannot buy the matching ring.
As mentioned earlier, your future spouse will have their own ideas of what they are looking for, but here are 15 of this year's trends. This is all the usual shapes available on this site. Some designers are adding color to the traditional ring. Rose-colored bands with your main diamond, then adding some smaller diamonds, and another gem color, such as rubies mixed in. You can choose whatever gem you may want. It can be sapphire or your birthday gem, the choice is yours. These rings look good with an Emerald shaped diamond.
Another option is going the nontraditional route. It is a pear or teardrop diamond in between two bands that connect at the back. Sounds traditional right? However, this diamond lays sideways in the ring. It gives your diamond, a little more protection, to keep from eventually getting knocked out.
A unique ring style being marketed is where a square diamond is surrounded by a platinum metal surrounding, yet placed on a yellow gold band. It seems to make the diamond in the center look larger and shine more. Want to be completely different? Why not opt for the new half moon-shaped diamond? It is usually situated on the rim of a diamond band. It appears to look like a sunrise, or sunset.
Another unique "twist" as you will see, is with a solitaire diamond. It is placed in the middle of three different twisting bands that connect together as one. Do you really love diamonds, and want more bang for your buck? Go with this three-row micro pavé setting. The band has three rows of diamonds. Rectangular ones on both sides of small solitaires, then with the masterpiece oval stunning centerpiece, in the middle.
You can go with a yellow gold, white, or platinum band on any ring. A truly unique ring this year, reverts to antique rings. The setting is marquis shaped, with a large solitaire in the center, surrounded by several diamonds of different shapes in the points of the setting. The band than has two square diamonds on each side of that with smaller diamonds around the band.
A beautiful white gold band, with rhodium plating, and embellishments leads up to a beautiful solitaire diamond with smaller diamonds set around it, to resemble flower petals. Perhaps you would like a hidden pave of small diamonds underneath the solitaire diamond. Simple yet elegant, and unique. There is a movement of two white gold bands separated by a beautiful pear-shaped diamond. It is beautiful and protects the fingers when you accidentally bang the diamond.
More and more couples are moving towards multi stone settings, with a big one in the center, and two smaller ones flanking it. They can be square, oval, or whatever you choose. Another very different and unique approach is to use a different gem as the main gem and surrounding it with diamonds.
Remember, it is your ring, and you hopefully only get one, so make sure to take care of it. Cherish it, and save it for future generations!
