About the Geuzen: (I havent been very historically accurate but hey its for the fun not an essay)
The dutch people are poor. very poor. the opressors have milked the country and harrased your people. Taverns are all laughs and great fun untill a member of the spanish inquisition comes in and a silence falls. A silence filled with fear. And so one day you decided to join the Geuzen; the rebellion consisting of poor low-and-middle classes and funded by rebelling noblemen as well as revolutionairies. But risks lurk everywhere in the shadows.. Spanish inquisition who takes every suspect away to torture, with eyes and ears everywhere.. And even at the sea you're not safe with the Armada chasing your tail..

there are two types of Geuzen:

Geuzen (mostly living ashore) these Geuzen mostly stay undercover, plotting, or go out on the streets to fight.

Watergeuzen (mostly living at the sea on ships in all sizes) these Geuzen are being led by Sir William Of Orange (more or less, he only does the planning of major attacks.) The Watergeuzen get their supplies mostly from english harbours or by going through villages like pirates; killing everything spanish in their way..

About the Spanish: a spanish king has risen, and the kingdom of the Netherlands seems lost. But also on the spanish side is poverty; unpaid members of the spanish army are known to leave to lead a life of thieves and cut-throat criminals. Armies fight rebels and revolutionary armies almost as a routine. there's surveillance in every street, and the lethal Spanish Inquisition hiding in the shadows.. no poor dutchman can be trusted for bribery is what makes the Inquisition so powerful, and all-knowing. And with ships on the seas trying to take down every Geuzen ship.. has The Netherlands fallen?

About Den Briel (default city of roleplaying):
Den Briel is a small city with a busy harbour. It's one of the major cities to NOT be when you're spanish, for the Watergeuzen are often close. this in combination with a vast number of dutch Republic supporters is it known to give many a spanish commander headaches. But they still try to rule it with an iron fist.

NPC's:

-Rogier Klare: owner of De Nachtwacht, an old tavern in Den Briel. poor old widower with the courage to let the Geuzen make their conspiracies upstairs.

-Annechiene Van Velden: milk girl. brings all the milk around in the mornings and knows about everyone everything. ally. Rogier Klare is secretly in love with her although the difference between the unshaven owner with the potbelly and the radiant dark-haired maiden is a bit too big. or so he thinks.

-Andries de Hardere: town smith. Big muscled man everybody is secretly afraid of. not afraid to repair, improve, or even fabricate new weapons for the Geuzen

-Fabio Aguado: head of a mean group of spanish beefeaters, and heavy alcoholic. this causes his men to wander out and about mostly without him knowing it and commiting crimes wherever they go.

- Mr. (Tabor) Mosqueda: Inquisitor, and a very dangerous one. this sadistic man arrests suspects with a small group of armed men, only to torture confessions out of them. also always present at hangings or other executions, this man is as close to the devil as you find them.

- Cornelia Ghyselbrecht: Rich old lady living in what appears a small castle (or a extremely large mansion) outside of town, together with her deaf husband Boudewyn. she and her husband secretly fund the Geuzen and her house has been subjected to all kinds of "illegal" activity.
