Interstellar Imperialism

Interstellar Imperialism

0 INK

Earth... the only habitable planet out there? Wrong. Completely absurd. There are numerous Species out there. In the 3rd Millennium, Earth discovers them.

2,060 readers have visited Interstellar Imperialism since jakal_420 created it.

Introduction

In the year 3045 AD, Earth is under on rule. America has basically conquered all of Earth. Space travel was just discovered thanks to discoveries at Oxford. Now, they are learning they are not alone! There are many different Species and many, many Planets! Milky Way is not the only active galaxy, just the least active.

Around 3100 AD, Earth was targeted by missiles from all over and exterminated. Humans were scattered and forced to reform their civilization on another suitable planet.

There are ten different species layouts. But first: Carbon or Silicon?

Carbon Based- Anything biological is carbon based. They breath gases like Oxygen, Nitrogen, Carbon-Dioxide, etc. Most things in the universe are carbon based. Possible Species: Humanoid, Feline, Canine, Serpentine, Arthropod, Alien, Avian, Piscine, Amphibious

Silicon Based- Silicon based species are rare. Silicon based beings live longer and are immortal to a tee. Slow reaction times are prominent for Silicon based beings. Possible Species: Alien, Crystal Based

Which one is your species?

Alien- Completely up to the player.

Amphibious- The space frogs.

Arthropod- The insects of space. Hostile towards others, including other Arthropod beings.

Avian- The birds of space. Peaceful and greedy.

Canine- The dogs of space. They are disciplined and "pack" based.

Crystal Based- Crystalline beings. They have no genetic makeup and MUST by Silicon Based. They are slow, timeless, rare, energy based. They can control energy to the molecular level. They cannot makeup armies and are dependent on Robot Armies.

Feline- The cats of space. They are hunterish.

Humanoid- Think of things that are like primates. Humans fall under this category.

Piscine- The fish-like beings of space. They are complete predators and ALL are carnivores.

Serpentine- The space reptiles. Aggressive, powerful, cannibalistic beings.

Traits (Choose 1 Advantageous and 1 Disadvantageous unless Humanoid. 2 Disadvantages if Alien):

Charismatic- Advantageous
Creative- Advantageous
Financial- Advantageous
Organized- Advantageous
Philosophical- Advantageous

Expansive- Disadvantageous
Imperialistic- Disadvantageous
Industrious- Disadvantageous
Protective- Disadvantageous
Aggressive- Disadvantageous

Size

This determines how many systems you get. It also determines standing army and fleet sizes.

Small- Start with 50 points to spend on systems, but with a limit of 4 systems.

Medium- Start with 100 points to spend on systems, but with a limit of 6 systems.

Large- Start with 200 points to spend on systems, but with a limit of 12 systems.

Enormous- Start with 400 points, but with a limit of 20 systems.

Systems (Gas and Energy Planets give you energy for your civilization. Energy give more than gas.)

Barren- 5 Points.
1-2 Habitable Planets
1 Gas Giant

Average- 10 Points
2-3 Habitable Planets
2 Gas Giants
1 Energy Planet

Rich- 15 Points

History (MUST take ONE and MUST DESCRIBE IT TO A TEE!)
Warlike: Your History is filled with bloodshed, violence and the genocide of millions, at your own hands or against you. The point is you won’t back down if you don’t have to. Think Nazis.
Diplomatic: You have more skill with diplomacy than most species and consider war to be a final option after all others have been exhausted. Fortunately you’ve kept your records better than others and suffer no diplomatic penalties with different species.
Commercial: A long history of commercial profit and trade fills your peoples lessons as children. Mercantilism is key.
Exodites: You people have been persecuted and hated and they have adapted and learned to move quickly in short spans of time. If you were to ever evacuate a world it would take a tenth the time of a non-exodite. Think Jews.
In Armour Clad: Your people value defense, shields and armor above diplomacy, strategic weapons and other minor concerns.

Nogond sat in his chair once again reading through reports. He had found another interesting report about a mercenary species and one mercenary in particular caught his eye. The mercenary was called Ray'Rah and looked quite promising. Nogond created a message that contained instructions on how to contact him and sent to Ray'Rah.

Ray'Rah looked over the holographic table. It showed the inventory of the ship. Plasma, Uranium food and raw materials. He had paid his crew and there was still money left for hiring more people. They needed a chef and some people that could work in the machine room. He was just about to leave when the big window changed into a black screan with a message. The Ghosts.. He had heard of them. A drunken man talked about them in a pub. Called them monsters, they could walk thru walls. Even breath in space. Ray'Rah hoped that was just drunken talk. He wasn't scared, But how can you trust someone that could walk thru walls. He shook his head and called him on the screan. He used video transmission so he could see the so called Ghosts.
This could be interesting.

"Captain Ray'Rah we have heard much about you and would like to make an offer." Nogond said in a business like tone. " If you raise a large army and help us in our missions you will be rewarded with things beyond your wildest imaginations, we could even make the greatest warlord in the universe . Also this is a one time offer if you decline you will never hear from us again.

The Stygian Gates
The Ghoul Stars
Rimward Trailing, Milky Way

Urisian huffed to himself, fidgeting in his command dais. He rested the side of his head in a gauntleted hand, resting his elbow upon the armrest of his throne. He was bored beyond reason.

"Fetch me another," he sighed. "One that wont break so easily this time."

A human slave rushed over from the shadows and proceeded to drag the messy remains of one of her fellows from the glassy black surface that spread out before the Archon's dais, leaving a trail of red behind them.

For the past month Urisian and his crew had been stationed at the Stygian Gates on a glorified sentry duty. Urisian reasoned this was an obvious snub by the Widowmaker - an obvious and demeaning slight in repayment for what was described as a "paltry offering at best" when last he brought a tribute of slaves before the Tyrant of Dis. This posting was far beneath the station for one such as Urisian - he was the Pirate Prince of the Ghoul Stars!

The insult still grated on him, and his various entertainments could not take the edge of the supreme boredom he was feeling. The numbing boredom was so intense he had taken to prodding needles into the soft flesh under his long black fingernails in an effort to feel something.

"Dread Archon," one of the bridge crew rasped. "I have something."

"What?" snapped Urisian impatiently. "Quickly."

"A signal, my lord" the crewman said, his face lit a ruddy shade of red from the console he poured over. "Some manner of automated scout-vessel."

"What is it's purpose?" Urisian asked, leaning foreward in his throne.

"From what I can gather," the crewman said. "Whoever built it are attempting to gain contact with other sentient species."

Urisian grinned and ran his tongue over teeth that were filed into points.

"Your orders, Dread Archon?" the crewman asked.

"Transmit a message," Urisian said.

"What shall it say, my lord?"

A malicious glint caught in Urisians abyssal eyes.

"Pray we dont take you alive..."

Ray'Rah entered the bar in the small nameless town. This was where the I'Kah merenaries could get together and get hired. Ray'Rah stopped by now and then to trade and maby hire someone. He sat down at one of the tables and ordered a drink. He looked around, some new faces. The girl came back with his drink and he gave her some tip. He drank his drink and then stood up.
'' Who want to join me and my crew?'' He said. Thoose who didn't hear had their self to blame. It was quiet for a moment then the raised fist started to show. Ray'Rah smiled, this was the kind of people he wanted.
'' Then go outside and talk to the man by the dropship.'' He said and sat down again. Nearly everyone started to move to the door except some people in the corner. Ray'Rah could tell by the look of their clothes that they where mechanics. So he finnished his drink and walked to them.
'' I need mechanics '' He said. Nothing more. They raised their fists and walked to the door. It's that easy for a I'Kah to hire another I'Kah, No questions. Now nearly the whole bar was empty and the bartender didn't look so happy. Ray'Rah threw some Grotha to the man and walked out.

Just when they was about to leave a women with a G-12 Rifle came running. Ray'Rah told the pilot to wait and walked out of the ship.
'' My name is Nina'Ner and i want to join. She was young and cute but she looked like she could handle a gun.
'' Well then. I Shipmaster Ray'Rah welcome you to the crew.'' He said and entered the ship. It was a little crowded but it wasn't a long flight.

Nogond sat in his chair once again. The knowledge of new species had caused a large stress in the political system, but he hoped things would be better soon. As he looked through the database of the Druuchi he decided to send a message to all major figures. He activated his recorder and said, "I am Nogond the leader of th Ghosts. I have an offer to make, we will create a temporary alliance so we can capture as many slaves as possible in the oncoming war. After the war we will see what happens and if future cooperation is perhaps possible. I know you don't have a reason to trust me and i have none to trust you, but remember the wealth we can acquire." When he was done he quickly sent it away and readied another message that ordered his spies to locate their leaders and prepare some assassins if needed.

Ray'Rah looked at the ship that just docked in the hangar. It was some mercenaries that had heard that he looked for more crew members. They came in a pretty banged up dropship that looked like it could fall apart in any second. They had ammo and weapons with them, like a gift for the leader. But more importanly they had news from the homeworld. The leader of the little crew walked out and waited for Ray'Rah.
'' Your name?'' Ray'Rah asked and looked at the man. He was tall and muscular. His hair was long and reached his waist. But Ray'Rah was more interested in the gun. P-13 also known as Blaster, A dubble barreled automatic fired plasma rifle with concentrated plasma. Burning thru the most metal and flesh, in case the shot didn't kill the enemy the plasma would burn away the flesh.
'' Bri'Whak, and the rifle is for you Shipmaster Ray'Rah.'' Bri'Whak said and gave him the Blaster. Shipmaster was the new title Ray'Rah had claimed. A title is not chosen it is given by the people. So from now on Ray'Rah had to introduce himself as Shipmaster Ray'Rah.
'' How many?'' Ray'Rah asked. He still needed mer members.
'' 32, each armed and experienced. And we have a chef I heard that you wanted one'' Bri'Whak answered and smiled. Ray'Rah nodded and then turned to Crun'Crin
'' Send a message to the Ghosts and tell them that we are on our way'' He said and then helped his men carrying the ammo.

The Widowmaker reclined on his throne, a content smile playing about his lips. At his flanks stood two of the infamous Black Guard, statuesque and immobile, and layed about before him were several slave girls of various species. Each was clad in very little and their necks were ringed by a large studded iron collar. Distinctively, each collar bore a small tap.

In one hand the Widowmaker gripped a long stave studded with cruel barbs, blades and spikes topped with a stylised skull, slung at a casual angle. In the other, a goblet of silvery metal rested between his fingers. He drained the last of its contents before handing it to one of his many serving slaves.

"Another," he demanded. "Perhaps Tarrelian, this time."

The slave quickly descended upon one of the chained slave girls arrayed upon the floor before their master's throne. With a flick of a finger, the servant activated the tap and an a steady stream of red slid into the proffered goblet. Once leve, the tap was closed and the servant returned the goblet to his master's hand. Finally, the servant tapped a few pinches of a powdery substance into the goblet before the Widowmaker took it took it too his lips.

"Very fine," were his comments. "Though I fear this creature's torment's are growing too mundane. The notes of fear and pain are less noticable this time. Perhaps this one is for the table, not the cellar."

At his words, two courtiers dragged the slave-girl away.

Spoils from the table.

The Widowmaker's reverie was disturbed a moment after. A Druchii official stormed in with dataslate held foreward meaningfully.

"Dread Archon," the official stated theatrically. "I bear a missive...of alien origin."

The Widowmaker raised an eyebrow, his lips curling into an amused smile.

"Really," he enquired, his tone sarcastic. "A message? For us? I wonder what pleas for mercy it contains this time. Read it to me."

The official cleared his throat, his hands shaking a little.

"Dread Archon," he began. "The missive reads;"

"I am Nogond the leader of th Ghosts. I have an offer to make, we will create a temporary alliance so we can capture as many slaves as possible in the oncoming war. After the war we will see what happens and if future cooperation is perhaps possible. I know you don't have a reason to trust me and i have none to trust you, but remember the wealth we can acquire."

The Widowmaker allowed the words to sink in, his eyes narrowing and a frown forming. Laying down his goblet he gave a dismissive wave of his hand and the official was quickly dragged away. His screams of protest and cries for clemency growing dimmer as he drew further away to whatever vile fate awaited.

"Cooperation?" the Widowmaker spat. "These animals presume too much - they would see themselves as equals, when they are cattle."

"My lord Archon," a smooth voice interjected. Arkhan, the master of Fleshcrafters, stalked foreward from the shadows behind the Widowmaker's throne. "Perhaps it would be hasty to dismiss such an offer out-of-hand. While only chattle, perhaps they might offer some use - while a knife in the back of a victim is sweet, a knife in the back of a victim whom trusts you is much sweeter. Perhaps, then, it would be wise to see how this plays out."

"Yes," the Widowmaker said at last. "You might be right."

The Widowmaker waved foreward a scribe. The scribe was bedecked with an elaborate brass scrivening rig - spider-like arms tipped with quils darted into inkwells containing blood whilst rollers and callipers fed through lengths of skin flayed from some unfortunate souls in preperation for the Widowmaker's words.

"Return this message;" the Widowmaker spat. "Ignorance or arrogance - either are the only explanations I can conclude from your missive. What benefit could we possibly gain from such a venture? What gain has the predator for assisting the prey?"

Nogond had just received the reply from the Druchii. They message didn't increase his trust in the Druchii the slightest. By know they were probably planning how to kill him and his people after the alliance had been used to their advantage. However Nogond had planned for just this and contacted his spies. His spies were led by Commander Ghal. When he started the transmitter Ghal quickly showed up as a hologram. Nogond looked at Ghal and said, " Commander, have you located the position of the high ranking druchii leaders?." Ghal quickly knelled and said, " Yes my lord, the spies have found their position and the assassins are in place and awaiting your orders." Nogond told him, "Have the assassin prepare for an attack, but don't tell them to do anything, yet. If my plan works we might avoid a need for bloodshed." After telling Ghal his orders Nogond deactivated the transmitter and prepared another message to the druchii. This one would try to convince them to a small alliance, but if they didn't agree they would face some problems from The Ghosts. The message to the druchii stated that even a prey might have his uses as an ally and showed how they could help each others, also he said that if he didn't agree he would make all other races attack them by telling them that the druchii planned to kill and torture everyone. With his message Nogond sent a messge to Ray'Rah telling him to hold his position and await an Ghost escort to the capital.

It was fried G'Karhak and a bottle of alcohol for dinner. Ray'Rah grabbed his tray and sat down by Crun'Crin and Nina'Ner. They were the only ones in the room exept from the two chefs.
'' Ah, I tought you was going to miss dinner today Shipmaster.'' Crun'Crin said and laughed. Ray'Rah smiled and then looked at Nina'Ner. She looked at her plate and concentrated on her food. She was probably shy, when she ran to their dropship on the moon she didn't expect to talk to the Shipmaster. If she had known that that man was the Shipmaster she would have just nodded and then asked if she could join the crew, now she just felt stupid.
'' Crun'Crin, The Ghosts said that we shall wait here for an escort to the capitol.'' Ray'Rah said, still looking at Nina'Ner. Crun'Crin just nodded and concentrated on his food.
'' I am tired, if you execuse me Shipmaster i would like to go to bed'' Nina'Ner said, still looking on her plate. Ray'Rah nodded as an answer, as all I'Kah did. Nodding ment much things in their languege. She left the room and when the door closed behind her she smiled.

Captain Merial of the Wraith had been tasked with escorting the mercenary known as Ray'Rah to the Ghost capital where he would meet with their supreme leader Nogond in person. The Warith is the largest ship in the Ghost fleet. It is designed for spearheading planetary assaults and cover an entire fleet with it's cannons. Along with the Wraith the standard fleet that always escorted the Wraith was present. The fleet consisting of 20 cruisers and 100 frigates and 1000 fighters with interstellar capability was present. All of them had cloaking devices and would make quite an impression on Ray'Rah Merial thought.

Five minutes later the fleet arrived at Ray'Rahs location and deactivated their cloaks and sent a single message that said, "Ray'Rah we have been tasked with being your honor guard and escorting you to the Capital." Merial sat in his chair and wondered how he would Ray'Rah would react to his impressive honor guard.

'' Shipmaster they wont come toda...'' He just stopped talking when the fleet turned of their cloaking. Ray'Rah smiled at his friend, he was also impressed by this great fleet but didn't want to show it. The fleet was far greater then the I'Kah fleet and their ships looked powerfull. He hoped this wasn't a trap, his ship was strong but he couldn't win against this fleet if they chosed to open fire.

'' It's truly an honour to be escorted by this great fleet.'' Ray'Rah said and he really meant it. He then turned to Crun'Crin and nodded. Crun'Crin wlked out of the room to tell the crew what was happening.

The Widowmaker let out a frustrated cry. He slammed his gauntleted fist on the armrest of his throne several times before lashing out at one of the many slaves girls chained to his throne. The blow was fierce enough to break bone and the force dislodged the arterial collar-tap strapped to her neck, allowing he vitality to pour out across the floor.

"The nerve!" the Widowmaker cried. "The arrogance!"

With a swift flick of his wrist he sent the data-slate containing the Ghost's response hurtling into the closest of his courtiers, leaving shattered shards inbedded in the unfortunate Druchii's face.

"I will not be dictated to!" the Widowmaker shouted, rising from his throne. "Animals, mere beasts, they have no right to make such threats! I could claim all of their wives and children for such an insult and yet it would not be enough!"

"Dread Archon," the silky voice of Arkhan Griefbringer interjected. "While your disapproval is quite valid, perhaps it is hasty."

The Widowmaker shot Arkhan a venemous warning glance.

"What I mean to say, my lord," Arkhan continued. "Is that perhaps you might stand to gain from this venture. While these beasts have little to offer us, it is perhaps wise to humour them."

"Go on," the Widowmaker enquired.

"Should you deny these creatures," Arkhan began. "Then perhaps one of your rivals might accept their offer. Ally yourself with these aliens and you deny your enemies a possible resource. Besides, it would not hurt our ventures to formalise some form of agreement rather than compete for the same resources. I doubt many of your corsair captains will be too pleased to descend upon a world only to find it's crop already harvested."

"Perhaps," the Widowmaker considered, "you are correct. Yes. Have a scrivener pen my response - I am willing to consider terms of alliance. Make it clear that we are the ones doing them a favour."

"As you command, Dread Archon," the Griefbringer said, a wicked smile playing upond his lips as he turned.

Merial ordered his fleet to return to the Capital with Ray'Rah. The journey would take a few hours and everything was going according to plan.

Nogond sat in the grand hall thinking when a messenger returned with a message from the Druchii. Nogond looked through the message and felt amused. The leader of the Druchii called The Widowmaker hadn't even suspected that Nogond had placed spies and assassins that were ready to kill him if he stepped out of line. He contemplated for a while to set an example by assassinating one of his top lieutenants called Koureth Nightblade. However he didn't have time to think it through instead he was supposed to meet with Ray'Rah and discuss their business proposal closer. Also he had prepared a grand feast for them as it is a custom for the Ghosts to do when they have guests which rarely happens. Outside the grand palace that was his residence his honor guard stood lined up in a ceremonial fashion.
Nogond went out and looked up to the sky. After a short while a large fleet appeared and he recognized it as the Wraith and it's fleet. Nogond stood ready to greet his new guest.

Ray'Rah looked at the great city, all the houses and people.
'' Shipmaster Ray'Rah, a dropship is ready for you'' Crun'Crin said and left the mission room. Ray'Rah wore black trousers and no shirt, a normal I'Kah style. He still had his callcom on his arm and the Blaster on his back.

Ray'Rah on the other hand just had Crun'Crin with him, the rest of the crew stayed on the ship to dock it. Ray'Rah walked toward the man and kept eyecontact with him. Crun'Crin on the other hand looked at everything and everyone.
'' Great leader of the Ghosts, I am Shipmaster Ray'Rah of the I'Kah'' He said and nodded, this was the way I'Kah bowed to another person. Well it ment a lot of different things depending on the situation. Crun'Crin also nodded and introduced himself as navigator of the Rah'Necra.

The Obsidian Tower
City of Dis
The Ghoul Stars
Rimward Trailing, Milky Way

Koureth Nightblade stalked purposefully through the twisting hallways of the obsidian tower, striking out harshly with the haft of his Punisher glaive at any who found themselves in his path. Arriving at the double doors to the Widowmaker's court the Black Guard standing sentinal paid their captain no heed as he booted the doors open with the bottom of his armoured foot. The dull sound of metal connecting metal presaged Koureth's entrance into the court.

"My captain," the Widowmaker said eventually after finishing another sweetmeat. "What bothers you?"

Koureth swung back his flowing black cloak to reveal his other hand, gripping a severed head by the scalp. With a dramatic swing he tossed the head to the Widowmaker's feet.

"My lord, Dread Archon," Koureth said, his voice distorted by the vocaliser built into the baroque arcitecture of the osmotic gill that concealed the lower half of his head like a bevoir. "A gift."

"How considerate," the Widowmaker commented.

"A spy, or perhaps an assassin," the Captain of Dis stated flatly. "We have been content to monitor them. The shadow-skins have been most...helpful in this endeavour. There are likely more hiding in the dark places."

"Of course there are more," the Widowmaker spat. "When one becomes Tyrant of Dis, there are always assassins and spies. I am not concerned."

"However," Koureth cautioned. "This one is not Druchii. It is one of our new...allies"

Koureth did not attempt to hide the disdain in his voice as he uttered the last word.

"Of course it is," the Widowmaker said. "I would be surprised if these Ghosts did not at least try. I have been happy to indulge their games."

"My lord," Koureth asked, a slight note of mild surprise in a voice more often bereft of feeling. "You already knew?"

"Of course I did," the Widowmaker venemously snapped. "Nothing occurs in Dis without my knowledge...and there are few places in Dis for an alien to hide."

"What will be your response to such actions?" Koureth enquired. "Reprisals? I can have shadow-skins deployed on the morrow."

"No, that is quite alright," the Widowmaker said, dismissively waving his hand. "Should any more of these interlopers be discovered, kill them. Such should be the price of their failure. But let it be known throughout my holdings that they can only hide for so long - turn back now, or continue hiding until they are found. And they will be found."

In a single salvo the after its lack of response the probe was entirely vaporised. The sparks of dissipating plasma glittered amongst the few scraps of metal that were not incinerated. The squadron returned to their post and the alert was dropped. Although attention was paid to insure that anything following the probe would have a reception waiting.

Whirlpool Galaxy
Draconis System
Orbit of Draconis V

The ship hung in the construction gantries. Its rotation coincided with the planet's so that its enormous shape would not prevent the sun's light reaching the orange planet's surface. Indeed, it is incorrect to say the vessel was in orbit around the planet, for the distance between the two was so great that they would be better described as have separate orbits entirely.

The Leviathan project was untested, no one could say what effect it would have on the outermost planet in the Draconis system. Many feared its mass would disrupt the factory planet, while other believed that the very pull from the planet would rip the ship apart. However, despite all fears and disbelief, the Leviathan was completed. In the bridge, buried deep within the hull, the most experienced and skilled crew began the activation procedure. Equirium tanks were activated to begin the replication process. Liquid Equirium was fed into the reactors and the capture rods harnessed the raw power required to run the great ship. The drives at the rear of the ship spun into action, volatile Equirium combined with raw energy to propel the Leviathan. At the centre of all this was the being whose name was reflected in both a fleet and ship. Archon-Cheen Leviathan stood, large and imposing, at the hub of the command centre. No orders were need. Every single crew member had served under the Supreme Commander and war hero. Every one of them knew what was required of them.

Activation complete the ship was cleared for active duty. From the orbits of every planet in the system ships shifted into position. The Medusa fleet arrayed itself behind the Leviathan, the sheer power of the fleet was daunting and apocalyptic. At once every ship, from the greatest flagship to the smallest frigate, pivoted at once and released a salvo of plasma weapons in salute. The blackness of space was defeated as a second sun shone, the greatest military salute graced upon the galaxy. A single order "Begin" was beamed from Draconis IV and spread across the fleet. The Leviathian shifted towards Draconis, the burning star's gravitational field pulling the vessel in. Drives burning to their peak the juggernaut harnessed the electromagnetic fields and ripped itself out of space entirely. Quickly Medusa fleet followed suit. The Great Exploration Fleet had begun its journey.

Ray'Rah followed the man but kept an eye on his guards. He didn't trust them untill he got his mission. Crun'Crin looked at the guards and turned to Ray'Rah
'' What if this is just a trap Shipmaster?'' He asked and looked around.
'' Do not worry Navigator Crun'Crin. It's not'' Ray'Rah answered. His crew would arrive to the feast as soon as they had docked the ship. He wouldn't let them miss it. Aspecially not Nina'Ner. He had told his crew to wear their formel clothes. Just pants and accesories. And short pants (not hotpants) and just a little top covering their breasts for the ladies. This may sound vulgar to other rases but this was the way they dressed. Their planet was hot and covered in forests so they needed clothes that worked in they enviroment.
Ray'Rah yawned. He was starting to get really hungry
