In Kiyoto, a major engineering company known as Tomiro Unlimited, or TU, has been working on a new idea, teleportation. In a secret lab beneath the city they have created what they call the Gates System, a device that is supposed to teleport an object from one side of the room to the other. On their initial tests, it was deemed a failure, as all it managed to do was spark, catch fire, and cause the entire city to lose power for a day. And so the project was canceled, and a month later the site is abandoned due to budget cutting.

A year passes by, and strange thinge begin to happen around the old building. People begin dissapearing from the area, and strange noises, like people screaming, can be heard from inside, but upon inspection, nothing is ever found. Police have roped off an entire block in an effort to discourage people from tresspassing, but that doesn't really help, and although they won't admit it, the police are too afraid to mess with the building too much.

In truth, the Gates System was a success, in a way. It just took time that the impatient TU people couldn't wait on. You see, when the System attepmted to transport the object, it actuallty pierced a tiny old between thie world and another, and had they continued to test it, the hole would have grown larger quicker, but instead it was never noticed. Over that year, however, the hole grew in size, and now creatures from that world are escaping. These creatures attack humans and use them as a sort of caccoon, maturing inside their bodies until they are a threat on their own.

The Creatures seem to come from a dimension where some type of technilogical virus has taken over, as they look like small android-like snakes when they enter our world, however, after nexting in a human they take on a humanoid apperance. They stand as tall as an everage person, with pale gray skin, cold, dimly glowing eyes, and they over all look like cyborgs, a combination of flesh and mechanics. They have razor sharp claws on hands which they can stretch out to snatch up their prey and either kill them or use them as a new nest. They have other abilities as well, some seemingly random or unique, as there seem to be some Boss Creatures which are far stronger and more deadly than the others, and who also seem to be able to control packs of them.

However, there was another side effect of the Gates System, and that was a type of radiation that leaked out into the area around the building over that year. It seems some teenagers who were exposed to this have gained the ability to access the other dimension as well, giving them unique powers. These powers are activated by opening a gate, which means the user wills a small hole in the dimensions to open up near them, from which they draw their powers. Each of their powers are unique, and their gates are named after them, for instance, if a person were to open their gate and it granted them the ability to reach inside and take a fireball, and to throw them as long as it was open, then that gate me be named the Gate of Fire.

Now, a man named Knight is searching for these teenagers, hoping that they will be able to go with him to the source of everything and close the wormhole. Knight was a man working with the Gates System team, and was also exposed to the radiation, though a muh higher dose, and because of this his powers slowly eat away at his body every time he uses them...

Okay, so, you are what is called a Keeper of the Gates, a person who has the ability to reach into another dimension by opening a hole between your own and that other plane and gain a special ability. Each Gate is unique and named after whatever ability it grants.

The enemy are called Creatures and Boss Creatures. They are humans who have been taken over and changed into cybernetic weapons by beings from the other side of the wormhole. They are much stronger than a normal human, and no weapons from this world seem to be able to harm them, which is why it is up to the Keepers of the Gates to destroy them and seal the wormhole.

Power: each are unique, and can be anything from throwing fireballs, to changing weather, to flight etc. However they must be reasonable, as everyone except for the aforementioned Knight have only recieved a low dose of the radiation that causes the abilities. WARNING- althought Knight;s powers eat away at him fairly quickly, all Gates do this, and overusing them will cause this process to quicken.

Gate Side Effects: as you use the gate you are exposed more to the radiation of the other dimension, and our human bodies cannot handle that, so they begin to change. As the Gate eats at your body you become more like your ability. For example, Knight's ability involves metal, and so everytime he uses his power more and more of his cells turn into metal. With fire abilities you may develope a sunburn like burn, which wouldn't go away, and would worsen as time and use of powers went on. The only way to reverse this is to seal the wormhole, which seals off your Gates and all the radiation
