Introduction

The family of Koyo Takashita is fearing the worst, after a month long police search failed to find any trace of him. The seventeen year old's mother made today an emotion plea for help.

“He's always kept in constant contact with his family. This is just completely out of character for him.” He was last seen in his townside apartment in Alwick. The Takashita family hasn't heard from him since.

“Everything is still at home, his tooth brush, wallet, you know all those things you would need to have if you were going away even for a couple of days.”

Only a few weeks after the first reported disappearance, two similar cases of missing persons came to the public's eye, from Alwick's neighboring reigons; Cartmel and Jorrow. Three students, around the age of seventeen have gone missing as if they just spontaneously disappeared. All their belongings, including; money, clothes, and essentials, were left behind and untouched. Bank accounts, friends and family, all appeared inactive or lost complete contact with the victim.

Alwick's and Cartmel's police departments came together as the cases appeared similar enough to suspect a connection. On the other hand, Jorrow, the home of the latest victim, has considered this idea ridiculous due to the minor details that don't match up with their victim. They have decided to keep all their details classified and refuse to see any connection between the cases, deciding it a waste of their time.

On the year anniversary of their disappearance, of what is now a cold case, a friend of each victim received an anonymous note from what appeared to be the kidnapper(s).

Image
Written on the back: Your friends are waiting.

Since the disappearance of their friend, the three have became close and now have a chance to decide if they choose to ignore the note as a hoax, investigate it for themselves or report it to the authorities.

The family of those missing stay silent as the investigation of their loved ones pull through to another year and less and less information arise about their whereabouts. The case becomes colder as days pass and the towns slowly reset as the Island with no secrets.

But little do they know of what truly happened and what's in store.

The three Towns/Regions
Apart from a few details, each town are not set with specific locations so go wild with your imagination. The towns are fictional.

Location:
The story is set on the fictional Island of Cerne, complied of three regions (aka “towns”); Alwick, Cartmel and Jorrow. Alwick, which is the center of the island, is the constantly bustling with tourists, and is considered the artistic side of Cerne. Cartmel is the smallest of the three regions but is the port for all international shipments and stocks of the whole island. Apart from that, they don't have much say in what happens. Now Jorrow is the largest of the three and is the government capital of the Island. Business, important rallies or national problems, anything involving the well being of the country, goes through Jorrow.

Image

The Climate:
The Island has a temperate climate with plentiful rainfall. During the summer, it would only hit the mid-seventies and occasionally, if you were lucky, a low eighty. Fall and spring are colder climates and during the winter it snows.

Day 001

“Good morning people of Cerne! Januray 16th, 7:00 and buurr is it cold today. Last night's storm threw a blanket of snow all across the Island, so expect a light fall. I'm your host, Sue Moto and here are your top stories-”

。。。

Today marks the year anniversary of Koyo Takashita's disappearance. To the eyes of the public, it's a mystery left unsolved, for no new lead arose in the past six months. Newscasters refuse to air any stories relating to the disappearances, and Cerne continues on as if nothing happened. Only those few personally affected sit with little hope of their return.

Image "Yo Karu!" The boss came, with another mysterious case to be solved. Though, that is only a guess, seeing as that is the only time the boss ever calls out to him. Unfortunately, every time they give Karuko a case, it's always months and months unsolved. He would complain, mainly because it gives the crime scene months to be cleaned away and gone, so hardly any evidence is there; if any at all. " I've got another case for you to solve. I know you'll do good, you never let me down kiddo!"

Karuko turned in his chair, to stare up at the file that was being put into his face almost and then gave the boss a long look. "What's it about this time? If it's something not even worth my time for a long period, I don't want it. Those types of cases, are just others being lazy at their job." Turning back to his computer he leaned on one hand and went back to a game of Monopoly Online.

"I am pretty sure you'll like this one. Just look at it and if it's a no, give it back." He tossed the files onto Karoku's desk and walked away rubbing heads head, mumbling something on the lines of 'Kids these days' with a soft laugh.

It took him a while before he finally decided to give the files a look over. It was what he liked to call 'C.M.K' also known as 'Cerne's Missing Kids' or K.M.M in which symbolizes the first name letter of each kid missing. Anyways, the matter is, it was one of the cases that he has already looked into way before he was ask just moments ago. Thing was, he never had access in getting any information because he never bothered to get permission. But now that he has it, he mine as well go along with it.

Looking over the files carefully, his eyes scanned every little detail from top to bottom, making sure that he isn't missing one thing from the files information reports. But there was just one thing missing. None of the Lead Investigators, were able to full information on the students best friends. And what little that they did get, seemed a bit off. As well as the families information that was given too.

Either he'd have to go undercover as a student in each high school, or go about it all another way. He was young enough and looked younger than his age, so there was no problem in pulling off a high schooler. Thing was, he didn't like children, not even when he was one. They are mostly stupid, smelly and gossip too much, never studying properly only worrying about drama with this and that.

He rubbed the back of his head, leaning back into his chair. "Guess I'll start with calling each Lead Detective and create a meeting. I'll just do that later, first, let's finish the game." Going back to his high score of Online Monopoly.

When it came to Karuko, nothing was worth rushing over and even though it has been a long time in solving the cases, to him, it was only just starting. If the kids were alive, they will toughen through it a bit long, if they have so far.

One year. Already one year, huh?

He looked up from his glass and settled his gaze on the calendar which hung there on the wall, marking the month February and circling red the number 15. Almost one year passed after the kidnapping of Koyo Takashita from the Arwick's and Makoto Ito, and there were no leads, nothing, that would bring the case forward. A bitter taste was on his tongue while he bitterly thought of the Jarrow Lead Investigator. Umisho, despite only meeting him once, he already branded him as bastard. Truthfully, he was a bastard for not even trying to see the obvious connection between all three kidnapping cases, and keeping his information classified. Umisho would loved to strike that guy down with arguments enough to throw down his stubborn wall, but of course he must sent someone else to practically chase him away. Really, there is a limit to everything; and this guy obviously crossed the line. So what if the one kidnapped in Jarrow was a girl? So what if she did not left her apartment, but instead returned home? Why concentrating on minor details whilst letting the major problem unregarded? He was a bastard alright, and that won't change until he properly apologized. It would be a miracle though, if that happened.

He finished his beer in two chugs, slammed the empty glass on the bar counter and glowering by himself there at the corner. He was in charge for the kidnapping case a month ago as the first one in charge went for pension. He was never particulary happy receiving those kind of cases, where talking with the family of the victim was quite a work, but he didn't went for his half-assed and full power, investigated here and there, gathered some more information from the victim's environment not only the family, but nothing. Days before he finally got to see the Jarrow guy for the first time but of course, he did not deem in necessary to share information with them, and rejected the possibility that there were any connection between the three kidnapping cases even before he heard Umisho and Arwick's Lead Investigator out. Who could blame Umisho for having a grudge?

A deep sigh escaped his lips as he took out money to pay his drinks and stood up, not entirely sure of his actions next. Perhaps he'll go for the girl who apparently was a close friend of Makoto's, although Umisho suspected a love relationship. Well yeah, Umisho wasn't the first one asking for what she knew; it was the first lead investigator who did that. Even though that one guy said that there weren't necessarily significant information thereby, a try could not hurt, right? Plus, he had no other leads anyways. That night, he settled down with that plan in mind. Giving up the kids was still not an option that, he was stubbornly holding onto. They were still alive, and he'd get them out of wherever they were now.

Everything was weird after all. The families didn't receive any threat letter or anything of sorts, nothing that demanded ransom money. The whole year, the kidnappers had a chance to possibly demand some, but they did not. It were cruel thoughts he had, thinking of another motive for kidnapping young children;; soon he discarded the thought of the most worse scenario. It was better to give it his all and never give up, yes, Umisho will do that. And if he succeeded to meet up with that Jarrow Investigator once more, he'll make the urgent of the situation so clear, that he wouldn't be able to deny the connection any longer.

The next day at noontime, Umisho who was packed within his winter clothes consist of a thick brown peacoat, a heavy type of wool coat from the 90s which is characterized by two rows of three buttons with a boxy shape, stepped outside of his house. It had an extended collar and fall just at the hip, making everything warm and comfortable for Umisho. With his black boots and long jeans he was ready to stomp through the piles of snow in front of his house. He knew he had to get rid of them soon, but work stood for everything else. Going to the garage he took his car and left his property with light feelings. His intuition foreseed something positive that day, and Umisho was a man who listened to such presentiments.

After awhile following his navigator's instructions, he found himself in front of his destination; or to be exact, the house of his real "destination". It was the house of Hana Lee who Umisho never met privately. Well, he guessed, it was time to do just that. Parking his old car not far from the house, he went for the door, ringing on the door bell.

Minami stared intently at the glowing screens surrounding her, her hands moving fluidly across the many different key boards, braking through firewalls, typing new codes, and listening to the news almost at the same time. This was one of the times she actually got totally serious about it. After all, it had already being a year. A year since her best friend Koyo disappeared seemingly into thin air. Yet, she still felt that he was alive, someplace, somewhere, just waiting. She paused slightly, listening to the news for any information. She doubted there will be any improvements. It has already being a year and no progress was made. The case had undoubtedly gone cold. However, that did not stop her from resisting the urge to fling one of her closest key boards into the television screen when the news broadcast ended.

It didn’t make sense. It just didn’t add up. Where was the connection between the cases, or was each of them coincidental? Initially, she thought the kidnapper only targeted boys but the kidnapping of Mai changed her mind. Or did he just do it on purpose to knock the investigators off track? Well, however he was hiding his identity, she had to admit he was doing a good job. As far as she knew, the police has not found any leads, and trust me, when she said she knew, she knew for sure. She had hacked into the police files many times, trying to find some hints that might link their cases together, but there was none. What was the police doing? She left her computers and slumped back in her seat with a soft sigh of exhaustion, pulling a hand over her face. She doesn't feel like going to school anymore, now that he was gone. Whatever the law says, she was not going. She knew the materials like the back of her hand anyways, and without him, the school would just seem… so empty.

All of a sudden, the doorbell rang, causing her to sit up involuntarily. No one ever sent her mail anymore. Her parents hardly did, due to their busy schedules, and last she checked, there were no taxes. Slightly apprehensive, she pulled open the door and peeked outside. There was nothing, but a note, resting on her doorstep. Huh? Minami quickly picked it up and looked up and down the road, trying to find the mysterious sender of the note. There was no one. Puzzled, she looked at it only to let out a gasp. Is that a… map? Where is that place, is it an elaborate plan? The thoughts flashed through her head, but they all vanished when she flipped to the backside of the note. “your friends are waiting…” she read out. Koyo! Her mind, usually full of ideas, pulled a complete blank this time. The kidnapper probably sent them that. Who else would? Her body trembled slightly at that idea and she could feel fear gripping at her heart. What should she do now? She searched her mind frantically for ideas, but there was no use. Her emotions had over powered her once again, leaving her helpless, and oh did she detest that feeling. It was the same feeling she had felt when she first received the news, when her world seemed to break and crumble away into nothingness, and she couldn’t do a thing to stop it. Shaking her head and composing herself a little, she took a moment to gather her thoughts. “I know, I’ll go find Hana and Chisaki! Maybe they will have more ideas about what to do. Let’s see, I should go see Hana first I guess.” Hana was probably the most affected of the three, and Minami was half worried that she would still be a little introverted. Chisaki was much, much stronger than to succumb to her feelings, that she believed, but Hana…
Slipping into her fawn coat, she wrapped her scarf securely around her neck and headed off in the direction of Hana’s house, a road she knew so well. However, there was something odd about it today. The first sign was probably when she saw the car, at a short distance away from the house. As she looked toward Hana’s house, she spotted a man wearing a brown peacoat and black boots, ringing her doorbell. What if he was the kidnapper that came to deliver the note? Her first reaction, was of course, to try and knock him out, but her intuition, kicked in. walking slowly up to the man, she cocked her head at him and asked politely “Hi, mister! Who are you and what exactly are you doing at my friend’s house?” Doing that might seem rash if it was the kidnapper, but violence was never the answer. She had no idea who the man was, but she simply waited patiently for him to answer her.

Hana Lee

Image

The room was dark, moist and had the smell of mildew and skunk to it. It was a room that not even the sun’s light could penetrate; a room only filled with darkness and pain. A room that even Hana herself was unable to see or escape. That fact alone made her scared; she sat in the corner, her eyes cold and filled with a lonely dullness as she stared off into the corner, her tears dropping off of her cheek one by one.
“I’m scared,” Her mind was so loud that it echoed through the room, making her tremble lightly. “I’m alone and scared.” She gripped her knees closer to her and bit her lip, trying to hold it back. “I don’t want to be here anymore…” She whispered a cry.
“Then leave.” Hana’s head jerked up suddenly to a figure that stood over her; his green eyes looked down at her in a caring matter that she hadn’t seen before. He smiled over at her, reached to her hand and pointed to a door in the corner of the room. “I don’t know why you would stay here; it’s all dark and stinky.” He sighed, looking back down at Hana with his normal confident smile that always told Hana that everything would be alright. “Let’s go, I’ll come with you so you aren’t alone.”

Not even a second’s thought, Hana reached up and gripped his hand and stood with the help of his weight. She looked at him before he held tighter onto his hand, smiling brightly at her as they started to move.
“So I’m not alone?” She questioned calmly, a small and earnest smile appeared on her lips. “I like that, thank you.” Hana’s fear was suddenly swallowed with warmth that could not be described except for the fact that it was welcoming warmth of which she so dearly desired and loved.
Each step brought them closer to the door- or at least until she made it half into the room- that was when they completely stopped moving. Hana turned towards him, his cheerful face was now expressionless; the warmth that had surrounded him was gone and a shiver went down Hana’s spine. When she tried to move forward, he went backwards, back towards the corner and back further into the dark room. Her eyes widen and naturally, she dropped her hold on his hand and allowed it to fall back to her side.

She stared at him for a short while before the distance between the two started to lengthen; fear rose in the pits of her stomach, making her feel ill. Though, this fear was different; it wasn’t fear of lonesomeness, nor was it the fear of the dark room- it was fear of losing this person, of losing Makoto. Hana found herself reaching out towards him, tears welding up in her eyes as she tried to run; it was no use. The more she tried, the further he’d get away from her grasp.
“M-Makoto!” Her screams came out as silent whispers and her hand began to falter and glitch out, as if she wasn’t really real. “Makoto!”
Then she saw it; the horrific scene that would always play in her memories, taunting her. Except, this time, instead of being the children she was trapped with, it was Makoto. He was strapped to the table, his eyes dull and had no signs of life to it; blood oozed from underneath his body as hulking figures began to cut his chest open with a scalpel. This caused reaction and her head filled with his screams; Hana slammed her hands over her ears as she began to sob.
“Stop it!” Once again, her desperate screams where mulled and nothing but whispers came out. “S-Stop it!” Tears streamed down her face as Makoto’s body finally gave it its last jerk. This time around, no cops came crashing in to capture these guys, no one came to unsecure both her and Makoto- luck wasn’t playing on her side as the figures made their way over to her, to Hana who was now, for some odd reason strapped in the chair.

~*~❁~*~
Hana lurched up out of bed, her hand covering her mouth as she rushed to the bathroom, tripping and falling over the tangled blanket. She didn’t waste any time when she arrived and vomited straight into the toilet, collapsing onto the floor. Her coughs her ragged and her breathing was faint as she released whatever contents where left in her stomach.
Her hand reached down to her own stomach as she began to shake; a small sob escaped her lips and she shut her eyes hard as she gripped onto the toilet. Hana stayed silent and allowed her panic attack to move on its own accord; thankfully though, it subsided within a few minutes.
“I won’t believe it.” She whispered, her head against the seat as her body finally began to return to normal. “He’s still alive,” Hana’s voice was faint, preventing the strain on her already sore throat. “I’m still alive… I was kidnapped and yet I’m still alive. It would be unfair if he was too, but died.” Her hand gripped tightly onto her stomach and before her thoughts could turn into a self hate victimizing rant, Hana stood up and jerked off her clothes and rushed into the shower.

It was a cold shower this morning, one that last a full thirty minutes- or at least until she began to shiver from the ice water. She walked from the bathroom of her house to her room; her house was fairly small, but the rent was a good deal for house like this. The kitchen and living room where in the same area as the bed and the bathroom was a separate room that was right by the door; it often resembled an apartment inside, and a townhome outside.
Hana reached down and turned on her TV before getting dressed and making her way to the small kitchenette to get her some breakfast; it was only 6 o’clock in the morning so the chances of the convenient store being open was low- which was a downer considering the only thing she had in her fridge was a half gallon of soy milk and a block of tofu. Normally, Hana doesn’t do the shopping, but instead, Miss Sakura, the woman who took care of her when she was hospitalized, in the ward and the one who helped her move here, would bring food with her every weekend when she came down from Tokyo to visit Hana. Though at the moment, Miss Sakura was out on vacation with her fiancé. Miss Sakura was like a mother- or, at least seemed like the motherly type who cared for Hana. Originally, Miss Sakura was suppose to stop caring for Hana after Hana was discharged from the hospital, but instead, Miss Sakura kept Hana company and always stayed by her side like a mother or an older sister.

Hana closed the fridge and leaned backwards onto the counter, her brown eyes staring off in space, dulling; she remembered Makoto’s last words to her, the day before he had went missing. He had promised her that he wouldn’t leave her alone; Makoto pinky swore that he wouldn’t ever leave her. Yet, now look at her. It’s nearly been a year and he has yet to return to her side.
Hana quickly stood on her feet, wiping the few tears that trickled down her cheek before she spun directly behind her, opening up the cabinets and staring into the space that contained some cup noodles, soy sauce, an empty sirachi bottle and some sesame oil. With a sigh, she opted in making some cup noodles, not feeling very creative this morning to try and experiment with the tofu, soy sauce and sesame oil.

It wasn’t until she had finished her cup noodles that the doorbell rang; the first thought that came to mind would be one of the other two girls whose friends also went missing. It wasn’t necessarily unnatural for them to visit her, but to say that she was use to it, was a little much- no, scratch that, she wasn’t use to it. Even after a year, she still felt somewhat uncomfortable around them- especially Chisaki, who Hana envied for various reasons.
Though, when Hana opened the door, there was no one there besides a small note that seemed to have a map on it. She studied the small piece of paper for sever minutes before her eyes shot back up, looking carefully around her; it was odd that whoever had dropped off the note could boot it so quickly considering the fact that Hana had only opened the door mere seconds after it rang. Nonetheless, she bent down to pick up the piece of paper, walking inside as she looked at it.
It was a small paper that looked similar to a business card or something similar, causing her to slow to a stop. Intricate lines were drawn on the front, almost as if it were a map; it was the moment she turned it over that caused her to drop the card.

Your friends are waiting.
Without another second to spare, Hana found herself running to the door again. Her hand gripped the door knob right when it had been rung. Hana jerked open the door and slammed right into the older man, her head hitting his chest; in shock, she stumbled backwards, holding her head. It was obvious now that Hana was freaking out; her cheeks where flushed, her brown eyes where glassy and the damn within her heart was about to burst. She bit her back to analyze the situation, staring at the man before her eyes found Minami who had seemed to have started a conversation with him.
“Minami…” Hana looked at her desperately before her eyes flung towards the man, eying him up and down before she leaned backwards onto her open door, her eyes not leaving the two while at the same time, she hadn’t said much. “I-I apologize for my sudden action.” She said quietly. “May I know your business here?” This question was directed to the both of them, the man and Minami.
Despite her quiet words, it was quite clear that she was distress about something.

Umisho had no time to look around the house or whatever, even inspecting the door. Suddenly it was as if he was, well, attacked from the back as well as from front. As he heard the little girl's voice behind his back, he actually attempted to turn around to face her. It's only polite right, to directly confront someone he is speaking with. Plus, through the tone of her voice, he picked up traces of suspicion that Umisho just had to speak with the little girl that seemed to know the situation that had to do with Hana, although indirectly.

However, before he even could turn around and take a glance of the little girl's face, the door opened hurriedly that Umisho's attention went back to his front and stepped back, as girl, which visual matched Hana Lee's description, practically ran into his arms. Well, not the most gentle one but it's Umisho alright, despite the whole surprise effect and impact, he was amused of how energetic teenagers these days were and therefore did not see it as 'attack'.

Several seconds, might also be minutes, Hana seemed to analyze the situation first, but also trying to calm herself down. What happened seem to freak her out even more than he thought;; well no actually he instinctively knew there was something different that brought her state of mind this way. What was it? It definitely wasn't the simple collision or perhaps because he interrupted her whilst watching a horror movie or something; it was more personal- a shock from which she hadn't recovered yet. At least, that was Umisho's impression.

As Hana finally spoke, it was directed to no other than the little girl behind him, as if begging for help. Afterward, she eyed him, making him blink in surprise but smile as her gaze reached his face. Neither a polite smile nor a business smile; it was a smile characteristic for Umisho, a smile showing friendliness but also gentleness, and a little of the humorous which can be found within his person. Well, the last thing can also be due to his accessory: You won't find an old man wearing a pair of glasses with the chain adorned with beads and a cross much or close to never. Alright, close to never would do better, I guess.

"My name is Umisho Koraa, the lead Investigator of Makoto Ito's disappearance." He introduced himself with a light polite bow to both Hana and the little girl, showed them his identity card to back up his words. "I also apologize for my sudden visit without announcing it before. You're Hana Lee, I presume?" Whilst he asked, his whole attention went back towards Hana and searched for her gaze. Then a reassuring smile appeared on his face once again. "You might have met the former lead Investigator. However he stepped back months ago making me his replacement. I came today in hope I can have a little chat with you, if you have the time?"

Hana Lee

Image

Hana shivered with her nerves as a thought arose in her head- Makoto could be alive, he could be waiting for her return and he could be held up at wherever, wanting to be saved.
"My name is Umisho Koraa, the lead Investigator of Makoto Ito's disappearance." Hana’s thoughts almost instantly ceased, her eyes returned to Umisho as he bowed and showed her and Minami his card. She watched him carefully with her mouth slightly a gaped as she watched him, her body becoming slightly colder than before.
"I also apologize for my sudden visit without announcing it before. You're Hana Lee, I presume?" She didn’t respond vocally, but a small and unnoticeable nod made her head move up and down, stopping only when her head was lowered, trying to ignore such loud thoughts that screamed through her head, telling her that Makoto was alive, that Makoto will be here before next month- all of this hopeful thoughts began to resurface, making her feel nauseas.
"You might have met the former lead Investigator. However he stepped back months ago making me his replacement. I came today in hope I can have a little chat with you, if you have the time?" Hana’s eyes rose back up to him, her hand suddenly latching onto her arm as she stood on her own feet once more.

She didn’t know what she could say in this situation, other than, ‘yes’; though, even now, she wasn’t sure if she could even find her voice at the moment; instead, Hana simply nodded and opened her door widely, trying to invite him. Truth be told, Hana hadn’t known what to make of the situation; perhaps she was so overjoyed and worried at the same time that she was unable to comprehend what to do. First the note that said Makoto was waiting, and then a new investigator came in to try and help out.
That was when it hit her; the note didn’t say ‘Makoto is waiting’, it said ‘Your friends are waiting’- that could only mean that not only did she received it, but Minami also did. That also explained Minami’s sudden visit. When Hana entered her house, she bent down instantly to pick up the piece of paper that she had dropped, placing it into her pocket as she walked further into the room.
The fact that Minami may have received a similar letter only meant that the kidnappers had an objective that needed to be filled with the addition of Minami and Hana; she highly doubted that the kidnappers really wanted to let the three people go, not with the knowledge Hana had gotten from personal experience.

Then again, perhaps this was different than Hana’s experience, she had to put that fact into the mix; it was very high that these kidnapper weren’t some organization of organ traffickers who’d just want to kidnap people to cut out their insides- no, if it had been like that, then they wouldn’t have sent the note. It seemed to be a note to only attract attention, but why would they want attention; how could they be so sure as that the friends wouldn’t tell authorities- especially now when a new detective was put on the case? No, of course the friends wouldn’t tell the authorities; not when they had the lives of the kidnapped.
Hana bit her lip in frustration, not even realizing that she was about to run right into her table that sat low on the floor. She slammed her shins onto it first, causing her to fall forward and landing on the top of the table, her hands out to try to prevent it. Hana, who was now aware that she probably had an audience, instantly spun around as she slid off of the table; her nerves sonly returned to being on edge as she tried to stand, brushing herself off before looking at the two.

“S-Sorry,” She said quietly turning back around and rounding the table, sitting opposite of where she fell. “P-Please take a seat, Minami, Mr. Koraa.” She watched them, her thoughts returning to the note while her eyes remained on them- more specifically, Minami. Now that she thought it through, she was almost certain that Minami had received the same note, and that the note was something to lure them there. With this information, Hana was stuck between telling the investigator(s), or just going with Minami. Both ideas gave Hana a foul taste in her mouth just as much as both ideas where risky; if they did tell them, their friends could be at risk, but if they didn’t, Hana and Minami could both be at risk as well.

“I promise I’ll never leave you.”
Hana’s hesitation suddenly vanished looking back at Umisho; perhaps she could rely on this person- this person and the other investigators. First, though, she needed to calm down and stop thinking of all of this nonsense; she will have to answer the investigator’s questions first and then think this over once more, with the addition of Minami. Perhaps another thought and opinion in this idea would help Hana’s mindset. Even so, it still didn’t stop Hana’s dreadful shiver that kept cascading down her back.
“I-I will try to respond to your questions to the best of my ability and knowledge…” She said quietly, now looking at Umisho. “So please, ask away.”

Image After he was done with the Online game, he took his time with the files. Having a snack and sitting down with a hot cup of fruited tea. It didn't take him too much longer before he started to stare at the names of victims on the files.

"Ito family huh?" Mumbling to himself he turned in his chair, making his back face his work desk and his body turned to the wall long glass windows. The windows showed a full view of nothing but city and sky. But his mind wasn't set on the view, it was set on his childhood.

The last time that he seen any of his childhood friends, he was 13. It's been 8 years since he seen the two of them and now he has to start a case with them. Knowing one of them, she might be trying to weasel her way into getting information, just to make a headline. Sure he didn't make time of seeing them, but he never lost track of them either. He always did try his darndest to take leave, just before Yosano too her spot light into the crime scenes.

None of his two friends know what he has been up to for the past 8 years, which was probably for the best.

With a sigh he flopped open the file to Ryuuga Ito. "Well he was a young Uncle." With a groan he laid his head down onto his desk. "It's too early for this."

Knowing the situation of the crime and the listing of these files, he is going to be dealing with one sick person, or maybe a person who just wants ransome. But the families weren't all that rich, if at all. So it couldn't be that. Maybe a grudge.

Reaching over he picked his phone up and started dialing in numbers. He waited and waited for the ring, but he figured that it was to early for anyone to pick up and remembering how Iko use to be, he was a night owl, so mornings weren't all that best to get ahold of him.

As he thought, he'd got the answering machine or voice box. Either one of those, Karuko hated.

"please leave a message after the beep.......BEEP"

"It's been a while Ryz." His voice had become gentle and easygoing. He couldn't help but speak like towards Ryz. Ryz was something he had always called him, even sense he could remember, only because at the time, he couldn't say Ryuuga, it was hard for him to pronounce. So Ryz was just a nickname that only Karuko called him. "Listen, I could help you find your nephew. Just give me a call alright? It's up to you."

He left his number and hung up the phone, brushing his hair back with his hand and fingers. Letting out one long sigh. Now all that was left was to wait on the call. Of course though ,he was going to find his nephew anyways, if the kids weren't dead.

His next call was to Umisho Koraa, the Lead Detective of Cartmel. He was a man of the older ages, so he might not agree to the situation, but it was something that he'd just have to put up with. Making the call he waited for an answer.

Smoke swirled up to the cold morning air as Ryuu leaned back on the balcony door to gaze down to the city's activities. He started his day with having a cigarette like every so often that it almost counted as routine. It was however, odd that he was up very early in the morning where he almost always had trouble to wake up. His gaze flickered up the skies, where small snowflakes started to fall. While it remembered him of the past, he had to think back to his beloved nephew whose whereabouts was still unknown. Ryuu had to ask himself often about him as he knew him too well; having spoiled him too much some times he was lectured by his brother. A faint breeze went through his dyed blue hair as he took another deep last breath. It was time. Getting rid of his cigarette into the ashtray he closed the door to his balcony and snatched his phone and purse off from the table and closed his apartment.

"Whoa Ryuu, for real?!" So went the greeting of his male workmate at the hair salon he's working in, which he countered with sticking out his tongue playfully. "Didn't I say so? It would do you good to believe me some times." Another workmate of his, now a beautiful long haired American beauty approached him and grinned mischievously. With no other words, the unfortunate guy drew out a thousand yen bill which the beauty snatched away with an unmistakably glee. Ryuu could only laugh. "She certainly is right. Don't you have some faith in me?" The one talked to just pulled a face, regretting the lost bet. "Yes, I do not. You should've come late like always Ryuu! Why are you up so early today?" Ryuu just sneered while the beauty mocked him with repeatedly saying 'We have a sore loser, sore loser..'. However, he wondered too.

He changed clothes and went off working. He had several regular customers, those who only wanted him to be their hairdresser. From old grandmas, aunties, young women and men even young little children. Ryuu had always something in his sleeves, often sweets and little toys, that he gave the children as present, so there's no wonder. Plus, Ryuu always had the talent to get the people be open around him and talk about various things, which is why you'll never have no topic when speaking to Ryuu. And as such days were one of the busiest, he did not realise his phone which hung in the changing room in his pockets, blinking to get attention. Only at break time he was told that someone called and picked up the message. Karu?

After years have passed, his voice still sounded so similar. Ryuu had to smile listening to the message Karu, his childhood friend, left. Honestly, Ryuu somehow lost contact with him although he tried to get to him, so he was rather surprised and slightly disappointed. But the fact that he called him was a good sign and so he decided not to be so hard on him. Without thinking twice, Ryuu called the unknown number back, which was perceived as unusual for his workmate, knowing Ryuu is usually disciplined and won't use his phone while at work. For Ryuu was curious and excited. He knew too well how intelligent Karu was and pretty much a workaholic at times. There was hope sparkling in his eyes, hope which probably leads to find his long missing nephew. However, the line was busy. Ryuu tried another couple of times, but it did not work. Sighing heavily, he went back to work but not before messaging Ayame, or Aya for short what Ryuu always called her, for this to be an event to be shared.

'Aya, just now Karu called me! Do you believe it, after so long? Do you perhaps can get his adress?
It appears he's a detective now. Perhaps you find something? Talk to you soon!'

And soon is real soon as they had an appointment that evening to go for a drink. Unlike with Karu, Ryuu kept the contact with Aya and occasionally went out with her only for a nice long talk. Although people surround them tend to say they're like dating, Ryuu just viewed their relationship as a healthy friendship. It was fun to talk to her as she was the complete contrast of him and while he sometimes helped her getting information from his customers, she was also the one keeping him doing his thing with his band. And now, perhaps, the three of them with Karu will reunite? That just had to be good news, right?

Tap. tap. tap. tap.

Her pen synchronized with the AC's hum, an ancient machine that shouted as if alarming citizens to evacuate the area. The desire for that pile of junk to be shut off was far more extreme than any paycheck they could offer but in the office, they liked it raw. A bitterly, icy cold, that was frigid enough to ship meats in. However, no matter now many sweaters, pants or socks she wore, it always managed to send her body in uncontrollable shivers. Maybe it was just to cool of their hotheaded personalities, an anger that could easily mount fury, and a temperament you needed to work in a place like this.

Bastards…

Regardless of the cheap stories and the arctic atmosphere, the pay was incredulously sufficient and to be stationed by the office kitchen was simply a bonus. It allowed Ayame to wheel herself in (literally), steal the day’s needs from the refrigerator, and make her way back to her desk in a matter of mere seconds. To everyone’s surprise, it was quite impressive.

Her eyes began to fuzz the stories before her; she might as well pull her face to the keyboard and strummed it across the keys for the stories would have come out the same. It took her no less than an hour to throw the trash on paper and send it off for the world to pick apart the celebrities it sent into scandals. She didn’t even care to write her full name on the articles, initials were good enough for her.

Ayame eyed the folder on her desktop, turning her stomach into knots. She had everything laid out in from of her yet nothing screamed to get her attention. What threw her off was that surname. A name that first seen scrolling across the morning news made her consider how many possible Ito’s could be on this god forsaken island. Again, it was something she truly desired ended on a happy note.

The Cerne Disappearances, Ryuuga…

The two of them only talked about it slightly; she wasn’t the type to slam people with questions if they too personal to prod. Even so, a simple glance to the folder only brought bad recollections of the event.

The buzz from her pocket startled her out of reminiscence. Reaching into her pocket, she clicked off her phone alarm that reminded her of the little get together Ryuuga and her had. Good. After a couple minutes of pulling herself together and gathering her supplies, she waved farewells and headed to the parking structure.

Another buzz startled her, but this time it played a small track she had set to be Ryuu’s personal ring tone, a snippet from his own band of course. Quickly, she snatched it out of her pocket assuming he had called her, reminding her of their little get together, since often times she’s forgotten. But to her surprise, it was a text.

‘Karu? Karuko? No way! He hasn’t talk to us in years, what made him start no- wait, he’s a fucking detective now!? Maybe this is about Makoto— figures he wouldn’t contact him to rekindle.’ Ayame found to herself mumbling in the middle of the parking runway, yet again started by the sound of mumbled curses and car honks.

“Aye yo- screw off!” She managed to holler like a half-slaughtered hog before kicking the man’s bumper and storming off. Getting in her car to avoid confrontation of the driver, he sent Ryuuga a reply.

‘I’ll see what I can do. Also, send me his number, I might get something from that.’

Throwing her phone to the passenger seat, Ayame slipped on her seat belt and rocketed out of her spot. She wasn’t going to miss this drink for the world.

Re: Last Seen Alive

Ahh, I was actually already planning that. Jk ;) I'll have my response up after moahi posts... what they'll hopefully do ... if not, I'll send them a PM x.x

Re: Last Seen Alive

My post isn't flawless, but I figured I should submit my post before you guys are ready to kill me.. >^<

I'll go back and edit anything that sounds funny.

Re: Last Seen Alive

Ah, sorry for slowing this roleplay down, but I'll be busy tomorrow and therefore gonna post wednesday, latest. Sorry >< Hopefully by then, moahi posts!

Re: Last Seen Alive

Hey sorry I've been offline, I had a friend over and I really didn't have time to get online.

@quelle, really? And I'm sorry for the delay again, I should post soon as well.

Re: Last Seen Alive

Now only waiting for moahi ><
You know @tea? Your username makes me hungry!

Re: Last Seen Alive

@zody
Yay perfect! thanks!

Re: Last Seen Alive

<.<

>.>

I'll be taking the Lead Investigator of Arwick.
Yeah.
*Picks it up and runs off to work on a character with it*

All silliness aside, I'd like to reserve that character because I check out this roleplay and goddamnit I couldn't resist >=3

Re: Last Seen Alive

Yes that's alright! I'm sorry with all this late replies, I've been so busy lately.. I'm sorry..

Re: Last Seen Alive

@ Bubble
Don't mind it~ Actually, just post! I'll wait for moahi afterward so that I can post for both of my characters at once and getting tea's character into the story.

Re: Last Seen Alive

Sorry about the long wait when I kinda rushed you guys in the end! I was just waiting to give everyone one last chance before I posted, but I will be posting tonight for sure, I promise! Or, if that is fine with you @teacookies.

Re: Last Seen Alive

That's okay @Cheshire_Girl, I hope everything is alright!

Re: Last Seen Alive

I'm sorry, unfortunately I must withdraw my position in the role play because my life is a mess right now.

Re: Last Seen Alive

Alright aounds fine to me -Que

Re: Last Seen Alive

I'll wait thank you... I'm just bogged up with work lately. I think I'll wait for at least Hana to make a post before Minami responds, because she's in a kind of nice situation now that will require quite a lot of writing.

And umm. She'll try her best to knock you out, so it'll be something like this:
Image
or if she finds a weapon like this:
Image
Take the cuteness as a form of apology...? Don't kill me!

Re: Last Seen Alive

@ Ville
Growing up together would absolutely do it. Having them only two years apart makes it way easier, too. I would actually find it cool if the three are childhood friends. As our characters kinda restrict their emotions shown outside, tea's character would be the big sis who glues them together and I guess who is talking the most, too heh. I don't know, what do you think?
Actually @ tea: We could join into the action by coming to Karuko's, getting him some proper food and eating there while we're at it. Cuz he seems to be quite the workaholic? Correct me if I am mistaken! x-x

@ bubblecrap
Sry >< Whilst working I... well, kinda fell asleep. Yeah, talking about dumb QQ

Re: Last Seen Alive

Not that I don't mind the usual wait for others post, but.... I guess I'm getting a bit impatient... lol XDD Forgive for that. hehe ^^;;

Re: Last Seen Alive

Lol well which ever is fine with me.

You could even crush on my guy if you like xD

But if they grew up together. My character will show them special attention, instead of a cold shoulder.

Re: Last Seen Alive

Alright, I'll post in some hours (need to finish some RL things first ^^")

@ Tea and @ Ville
Awesomeness! If we're discussing together, I guess it's okay if I post here, is it alright Ville? Cuz although I don't think they were classmates, their age are few years apart, and meeting at a pub, get together with many friends in some party whatever or even blind dates might be possible. If you want to, it also can be amusing coincidence, I don't know, whatever that would be fun ^-^

Re: Last Seen Alive

@^@ sorry for being out yesterday! Work just piled up and I wasn't able to get online..

@quelle and @ville
Yeah that would be great! I think the three of them would be interesting. ^_^

@bubblecrap
Sorry for such a late response and you probably already figured it out but they reice the note on the first day. So if they already have it or just received it, is fine.

Re: Last Seen Alive

@ moahi
Heh, knocking him out would be pretty impossible anyways. Damn, she is so cute.

@ Ville
I'll do that as soon as tea answers =D
