Introduction
Thousands of years ago, the Gods shaped the world, and gave us life. But when they left, the gave the land to chaos, and destruction. Almost 2000 years ago, a massive war lashed out between the 2 strongest races of the land. The Dragons, the most eldest race of the Realm, and the Humans, one of the youngest races in the Realm. The Dragons, masters of channeling their inner rage into power, had been the guardians of the the world ever since the gods left. Wise and powerful, the dragons had stated that they should be the ruling race of the land. The Humans, a race of young, yet strong willed with the ability to master any art of magic or combat, thought otherwise. They thought it was their birthright to rule the Realm, and the dragons were abominations created by accident.
For years, the War of Fire tore open the land. The Dragons, in search of ancient relics of knowledge, had dug deep into the ground of the realm, scaring it permanently. But the Humans, in their search for more powerful magic and weaponry, had polluted the world with the waste of their search. Little did they know, that from the destruction to each other and to the earth, they had awoken a great evil... The Beast King
While they 2 races waged their war, the Beast King rose from its sleep. In Dragon legend, the Beast King was once a god. The god of Dragons. He ruled over all creation with the other gods for eons, but fell from grace with the other gods and was imprisoned within the earth to sleep. Only to be woken when the gods had returned to the world. But, something woke the Beast King from its sleep, and sent it on a rampage, leaving nothing but ashes and rubble in its path. The Beast King slaughtered kingdom after kingdom of both races, snowing no mercy or alliance to either side. Single handed, the Beast King had brought both army's to their knees.
Faced with extinction, the humans - who had been hit the hardest by the Beast King- came to the dragons with weapons lowered. The King of the humans -Cahl Stranso- had come face to face with the Dragon Lord -Malicath-, and begged for the dragons to save his race. The Dragon Lord was sympathetic to his plea. So, the both of them created the Alliance. An army of humanity's most powerful mages and warriors joined forces with the dragon's strongest, and went on the offensive against the Beast King's lair, the Red Spike Mountains
Sword and spell, mixed with claw and rage. The combination was unstoppable. But as strong as the Alliance was, could they hope to destroy the Beast King? in a malestorm of destruction, the Alliance and the Beast King collided. Wave after wave of dragons and humans alike fell to the Beast King's might, only to see a bit or a piece of him destroyed. But wave by wave, bit by bit, the Beast King's power started to fail.
With both parties equally exhausted, the Alliance made one last desperate strike against the Beast King. With the King now weak, the dragons flew the humans high into the air, surrounding the Beast King. Channeling all of their power into an inferno, spell and rage mixed into a single blast that tore the Beast King asunder.
The scorched, burned, destroyed body of the Beast King fell ontop of the mountains, and had mated with them so his body was simply another part of them... The Beast King had been defeated, and humanity was free to live another day...
In a single battle, generations of dragons had been slain. With the average incubation period of a dragon egg being almost 100 years, the dragons had no way to possibly repopulate. With their numbers less than 10, it was the humans time to return the favor the Dragons had done for them. The Humans took the eggs of the dragons, and the dragons that were left, and swore to protect them until the end of time...
For two-thousand years we, the humans, have safeguarded the remaining dragons, and their numbers have only recently started to grow. Now, it is estimated their are still less than 100 dragons that remain throughout all of the realm, and the Humans have protected all of them. Humanity has also regained its strength, and has become even more powerful than they were before the rise of the Beast King.
How wrong we were...
For 2 eons we have lived in peace with the world... But recently the Alliance's attention has been brought to disturbing news. 10 years after the Beast Kings a zellot necromancer, and follower of the Beast King, attempted to resurrect the King from the remains over the mountains. Luckily, he was stopped; and a seal was placed over the body of the King so that if any tried to resurrect it again, they would be destroyed... But, like with all curses, the magic has faded over time.
Now, a rumor of a second necromancer roaming the Realm has caused a stir with the Alliance. If there is any truth to this rumor, this necromancer needs to be put down... Yesterday. The most powerful of the Riders, an ancient organization of warriors sworn to protect the Alliance and the remaining dragons in the world, have been called to destroy the necromancer... Before he has a chance to resurrect the King.
The Order of the Claw, and organization of Humans, Drakborn, and Dragons, that protect and serve the dragons with their lives. The Claw itself owns a small army of elite warriors known as Riders. The Riders are powerful, and elite warriors and mages that use powerful creatures as their companions. The connection between the Rider and their animal is deep, and spiritual. Most riders have the ability to speak, and communicate with their animals through sharing their emotions with one another. The Riders animals can be anything they want, as long as they have the ability to capture and control their creature.
Used as the divine warriors of the Alliance, their numbers are dwindling. So now, the hunt is on for brave men and women of all races who want to help protect the dragons, and the realm itself from danger.
