Travis King's Story

Darren woke up to the sounds of three baby birds chirping in their nest which was to him three babies crying. He groaned and woke up to a Robin apologizing for her children but Darren shook his head and chirped as to tell her it was fine. He checked his clock and sighed knowing he was going to be late. He quickly grabbed his clothes which consitsted of a pair of jeans and a blue and white paper plaid shirt.

He rushed to the cafeteria and nearly vomited at the smell of eggs. He quickly grabbed a muffin and sat down in a secluded spot with the window open. He saw a chipmunk and squeaked to say hi and the rodent bounced over through the window and landed on his arm. She was a cute little thing and only a few months old. He quickly bit off a piece of his muffin and handed it to the animal who ate it happily as she began to talk about the current issues with the other animals.



Nicole woke up at the feel of sunlight hitting her face and she groaned. It didn't kill her on account she wasn't a full vampire but it still made her feel awful. She got up and got in the shower and started her morning routine. She got out of the shower, brushed her teeth, and fixed her hair into a bun and walked downstairs to the cafeteria, hungry as hell.

She made her way down and sighed happily. She grabbed some eggs and a coffee and sat with a few other girls she knew. She looked around and sighed looking at her peers. There was the psychic who she rarely talked to out of the depression she felt would be in the future. There was the unicorn boy who she never understood but slightly respected. Then there was the hippie king himself. She was surprised he didn't just come to his classes barefoot and in a loincloth. She sighed and her mind start to doze off and fall back asleep as she tried to wake herself with the coffee.

Darren was listening happily as he heard a human voice talking to him. It was Travis a Unicorn hybrid. Darren was particularly curious on what this guy could actually do. He heard screams of terror as the chipmunk bounded out the window. "Nothing really the poor gal just needed to vent. A hawk has been eating some of her relatives and she's just been mad." he said sighing and finishing his breakfast. "I could never imagine eating a rodent or let alone any meat." he turned and smiled back. "I'm guessing you feel the same being part equestrian, no offense." he knew of the boy's shyness and he didn't want him to hate him.



Nicole gave a soft smile to Bellaza as she waved. "Good girl." she said to herself. She then stood up finishing her coffee and tossed it away. She then sighed and started towards her first period not quite ready to go to classes today. She ignored the feeling and and went to first period and sat down in the corner of the room avoiding the morning sun as she sat back and closed her eyes a little.

Darren shrugged. "Im fine I guess, I have a family of robins in my room who wake me every morning now so that's both a blessing and a curse for me." he smiled and said with a little pep. He didn't want to seem boring but he usually didn't tell people about him going out every night to try and talk to as many animals as possible. It was like his tradition and he wanted to keep it but he wanted to share it, unfortunately there isn't another human at this school who can talk to animals like he could.

Darren shrugged "I suppose" he said then heard a thud. It was Nellie, he didn't really know her well but he knew she could change her body wieght by will which would be a useful ability and more than his as he always thought his was a bit useless compared to others wonderful powers.

He rushed after Travis and looked concerned but said nothing since he wasn't able to truley talk to pure humans unless he was using broken English. Luckily Travis was half equestrian so he was able to understand him without any troubles although he never knew there was. "You okay? he said only able to say okay and sounded like he had problems speaking which he had never had, as long as the people he was talking to weren't pure human.

He then stopped moving and heard a small cry. "Hungry hungry" it said and realized there was a baby in her pocket and it sounded as if it was a bird. "Do you have a baby?" he asked and held out his palms as to take the bird. He could take it and at least try to find it's mother, if not get it to a proper home.

NELLIE KADENCE

"Hello?"

Nellie jumped when she heard voices behind her. She almost dropped the baby bird as she spun around and stared at the two boys while wiping her tears stained cheeks.

"Uh...hi...." she muttered as she held the bird to her chest to keep it warm and safe.

"I'm sorry about those people in there, they really had no right to laugh, we all are different." the boy, she thought maybe his name was Travis, said.

"Apparently im not weird enough." Nells said with sad smile as she rubbed her bleeding hand on the back of her jeans.

"You okay?" the other boy asked.

"Yes, im okay" she said with a kind smile.

"Do you have a baby?" he asked

"Not that i know of--" she said with a frown then she looked down at the bird and realized he was talking about her.

"Oh, yeah, i was going to take care of he...her mom left...." she said with a frown as she studied the two boys.

Darren smiled as the bird was handed to him. "Thank you" he said smiling then petted the bird slowly as she calmed down. He started chirping and nodding as the baby bird chirped back. "She'll be fine he said with a happy smile. He could surely find a nice family to take her, animals were really seldless as long as you could reason with them and use choice words. To the animals he acted somewhat as a messiah to them translating between species even though he knew some of the languages better than others.

His smile turned to a confused look as he put the chick in his shirt pocket and saw Nells' hand bleeding. "Should I get someone?" he asked concerned of the girl. He instantly regretted it as he realized he had no idea who he should ask about for a bleeding appendage.

He looked at Travis and wondered if he could since there was the myth that Unicorns are healers although Travis would never dare ask, especially since the equestrian discussion he had earlier. He really didn't want this boy to be mad at him since he was one of the few people who could understand him and that he could be around without having to bear them eating meat in his presence.

His thoughts were interrupted by the bird screaming she was hungry again and Darren sighed then jumped up in the tree using one arm like an ape. He then found a good leaf and jumped down and started to gather some nearby blueberries. They made a wonderful squishing sound of the juices as Darren pulld the chick back out and started to feed the bird the blue paste and hummed softly.
