Introduction
- If you don't have Minecraft already, you need to buy it (don't worry, it's a really fun game, and you'll definitely get your money's worth many times over). You can purchase it at http://www.minecraft.net for fifteen euros, which comes out around to $21.
- Create a character on the tab. It doesn't have to be detailed; just a general description and short backstory is good enough. Make sure to post your Minecraft username in your character profile!
- Connect to the server with mysandwich.hopto.org:25639 or its IP, which is 50.23.67.133:25639.
- Start playing! I would recommend start creating or adding onto a town, but you can do pretty much whatever you want; keep in mind, however, that breaking the rules of a town or clan you're in could land you in jail.
- If you want to, make a post to summarize important events. Post in the OOC thread or message me if you would like to add a location to the list.
There are eight ranks/classes, each with its own permissions (features):
Traveler (no building rights)
Peasant
Merchant (VIP level 1)
Warrior (VIP level 2)
Noble (VIP level 3)
Priest (Moderator)
Demigod (Admin)
God (SuperAdmin)
To become a VIP, you must donate to the server. For the Merchant rank, you must donate at least $5; for the Warrior rank, you must donate at least $10; for the Noble rank, you must donate at least $15. Storyline:
Your character wakes up floating on top of the sea, confused and disoriented, wondering how or why they got there, and where "there" is. They will quickly learn that you don't want to be out in the open at night, and that the only way to survive is to band together with others and forge tools from the earth.

Collectibles
By creating Collectibles, you can reward your players with unique items that accentuate their character sheets.
Once an Item has been created, it can be spawned in the IC using /spawn Item Name (case-sensitive, as usual) — this can be followed with /take Item Name to retrieve the item into the current character's inventory.
Mobs
Give your Universe life by adding a Mob, which are auto-replenishing NPCs your players can interact with. Useful for some quick hack-and-slash fun!
Mobs can be automated spawns, like rats and bats, or full-on NPCs complete with conversation menus. Use them to enhance your player experience!

Events
You can schedule events for your players to create notifications and schedule times for everyone to plan around.
The Forge

Texture packs are entirely client-side. There's no way for me to "put in" a texture pack on the server.

In HeroChat, there are multiple channels. To join a channel, type /ch join (channel nickname). You'll see chat from every channel you're in, but you only post to the channel you're focused in; to focus on a channel, type /ch (channel name). To quickly post a message in a channel without changing your focus, type /(channel name) (message), or /qm (channel name) (message). Some channels you're already in be default, some are hidden from the list of channels (/ch list), and some you can't even leave.
Local chat is the default channel focused, and it has a max block radius of 100 blocks. It's supposed to be the main roleplaying channel, but there's also the IC_Phone channel for longer distances (/ch phone; you're in it by default). There is also the OOC channel, the premium OOC channel (for donators), the help channel (911), the emergency channel (you can't leave it), and a staff channel.
2. To what extent is the roleplaying done? Are we talking serious roleplaying that happens to be in Minecraft, or Minecraft with some roleplaying added to it?
Right now it's the latter, but I'm trying to push for the former. Adding a lore and main storyline will probably help, so I'll add those soon, along with a much better thread on the Minecraft Forums (I'll link to it in the introduction) and some updated plug-ins.

Some of the plug-ins might take a bit to get used to (e.g. HeroChat), but on the whole, no, it's not hard to catch on.
