Sukino Uchiha

The darkness was pervading the world, filling it with void and fear. There was nothing to be seen in this world, only felt. A light breaks the barrier of darkness from above, and a pale dark haired head looks up at the bright light. It feels warm and spreads across the young boys red eyes. The light changes however, turning into a red light that matches the boys eye pattern, the pattern of the Sharingan. The red fiery light crashes down on the boy engulfing him in pain and heat...

Sukino Uchiha awakens in a screaming rush, or at least he would have screamed if his vocal cords had allowed it. Having been badely burned years ago, the boys voice had been extinguished and left him mute. So instead of a scream he simply sat up right in terror and let his mouth fly open. He clenched it shut quickly and held himself in his own arms, shaking from the nightmare. He had not had one for at least a month, but they were always about fire.

Recovering from his dream Sukino gets out of bed and prepares for the day. It was his first morning as a Genin and he wanted to be ready for it. His medium length messy black hair was thick and hanging over his left eye, which was how he usually left it. He dressed in dark grey shorts and a black T-shirt. Sukino wrapped both his arms all the way from his hands to his shoulders in white linen to hide the burn scars across his arms. His shoes were standard open toe black shoes for shinobi, and he equipped a black kunai pouch to his right leg. He then took out his prized possession, a black headband with a steel Leaf Village forehead protector stitched on the front. He tied it around his neck loosely so that it hung down a little from his throat. He stared into the full sized mirror next to his bed and took in his appearance. The headband was not all a good thing however, as Sukino remembered his mothers reaction just last night...

"Mother! I graduated!" Sukino said to his mother in sign language as he arrived home. She had been sitting in her favorite chair, but soon came out of it to slap her hand across Sukino's face. She had seen his headband and was crying black tears from her make up. "How dare you remind me of your brother..."

Sukino shook off the memory before he reminded himself of his late brother who had died shortly after his own graduation. Turning towards his dresser and more specifically the paper sitting on it, Sukino read the note again to himself. It was orders from the academy that he was not to be assigned to the normal team, but instead was to report to the Leaf Village Gate and greet an exchange genin who was to be apart of his special team. He was to answer all questions asked and give him/her a tour of the village.

This first mission was important, as in his mind it would set an example of him for the rest of his career as a shinobi. He had to complete his first mission with flying colors, or he would be a failure the rest of his life. Grabbing a shoulder bag that hung down near his waist, Sukino ran out of the house avoiding his mother and headed for the Village Gate. His walk was a long one, as he lived in what used to be the Uchiha sector of the village on the outskirts, an ironic placement as he was an Uchiha, even though an outcast one at that. He arrived at the gate a half hour later, after grabbing a short lunch of dumplings, and waved at the two chunnin sitting at the entrance post and stood waiting for the shinobi he was supposed to welcome.
