Mikoto is an orphan. She's never remembered her family and has always been passed from family to family, the adopting people taking her back to the orphanage because they thought she was to quiet and to much trouble.Now she's 15, doubting ever to have a stable, real family, especially with how old she is now. Her best friend, who would now be 17, got adopted 6 years ago, when she was 9. He had been the only one to ever talk to her and ended up protecting her when the other kids tried to bully her. Before he left though, he found a kitten that looked like her and gave him to her, she's kept the kitten and taken it with her to every family she's gone to. She never forgot him but as time went, but she began to get quieter and keep more to herself as time went on. After he left the orphanage she never really got close to anyone, always afraid they would end up leaving her.
Now, she's been adopted, which is rare for a girl her age. Unknown to her, her old friend lives near her new families house. The family isn't exactly the best, but they mean well and try to help her though. She's going to high school the day after she's getting adopted, maybe her and her old friend will see each other.
