Throughout the land, those within were falling to despair. Hope was no more, sorrow reigned. As the darkness gathered, spreading ever farther, even those with the mightiest of resolves wavered, cast down by the impenetrable darkness that ensnared their minds. No one person knew the truth, it was doubted anyone knew the truth, yet it was always considered. Not considered for the hope of rescue, even that hope was crushed. It was thought that the person or persons who knew the truth were the cause, the blight-bringers, ones of impossible power. No, there was no hope.

The land was simple; rolling fields, grassy meadows, thick forests, and clear-flowing rivers. But, once the darkness took hold, it all changed, the fields began dying, yielding amounts a quarter of the average. The meadows faltered and failed, the animals within fleeing before the deluge of misery. The forests became brittle, snapping in the lightest of winds, and the once clear rivers became muddy, silt-clogged channels that no living thing could drink. The land was changing.

The darkness snared the minds of all those caught by it. Whether it took a day, or a year, every soul fell victim to it. Where once people greeted each other with a smile and wave, they instead stared with hostility and suspicion, as they would a wolf in sunlight. These rampant negative emotions fueled violent encounters, leaving score lying dead or dying in the streets, and none to help.

But, at the same time as the despair trapped the land in an unwavering grasp, four newcomers arrived, unaware of the sorrow and madness. These newcome travellers know nothing of the land and its peril, nay, they seem to know nothing at all. They cannot seem to put their memories to words, nor their experiences in action. All the remembrances were there in their mind, but their body could not seem to act upon them. They were like infants learning to stand upon their own legs, and this is how they were found.

Lying upon the ground, the dreary sky roiling above, looking to spill the meager amounts of rain it released every day. These four strangers were brought together by fate, for what they are, or what they could be. Their pasts remain unknown to all but themselves, yet they will all know each other, through travels, through joy and fear. They will come to know each other, they must come to know each other. These are the heroes of the known world.

1.) This is a spur of the moment piece of work, there is no fore-thought involved.

2.) There is a four character limit, but I don't care about the Male:Female ratio

5.) If there are enough willing participants, I will not play a character. But, if we are in need of one extra person, and there doesn't seem to be another person about to submit, I will play the final character.

1.) Romance is allowed, but only if it fits the scenario (I.E.: No make out sessions in the middle of a fight/argument.)

2.) I do not mind unnecessary gore, make it as detailed as you like.
