Introduction
In the year 3750, the Confederacy began to colonise the rest of the cluster, assimilating more worlds as it expanded. By the end of the century, the Confederacy of the Hundred Lions was born.
The confederacy formed a inter-planetry alliance between the one hundred habitable worlds. These worlds were all entirly different, in both geography and the civilization that inhabited them. Because of this diversity, The confederacy formed a collective senate, each planet provided a member to represent them. Every Decade, the senate elected a member to stand as the overall leader of the Confederacy for the five year term. He then chooses another five members to control the various facets of the Confederacy, from the military to regulating the flow of trade.
Over time the democratic notions that the Confederacy has started to devolve. The senate postitions passed down from families, making the senate highly elitist. Alongside the rise of the elite in the senate came the usurption of power by the wealthier and more technologically advanced civilisations, the use of supposedly friendly bribes and trade boycotts to control those with less power and thus gain more votes in the senate.
Through this control three factions began to emerge, lead by the three most advanced civilisations at the head.
The first faction was lead by the Tiresians, A tall and slim spiecies with sickly blue skin. Decorating their extended necks like a trio of parrallel knife wounds are gills, a remnant of their underwater life before they evolved the ability to survive above ground. The planet Tiresias is largely covered by water, the only land existing as the tallest mountains. When the idiginous civilisation evolved sufficiantly to develop cities, they moved inside the wealth of erosian born catacombs, forming a city inside the mountains. Their technology revolves mainly around the production of crops in deepspace and starship design. As a race they are largely pacifist, providing many diplomats for the Confederacy.
The second faction was headed by the Navarre. The Navarre are the most human spiecies in the Confederacy, and have made the most advances in military drill and practice. The planets government is aligned around a sect of noble families who typify the elitism present in the upper echelons of the confederacy. Due to there abilties in military training, they provide many of the senior officers and general staff to the Confederacy navy. This position would give the Navarre a large military presence in a conflict within the Confederacy. Their technology reflects their role within the Confederacy, Small Arms and Ship-board armaments. However, their civilian sector leads on the production of communication devices. The Navarre are under the most presure to gain power in the Confederacy, as civil unrst plagues their society. One of the most notable events was the massacre of a fleet at anchor by a rogue officer. This event sent ripples through the neighbouring systems and some experts say, led to the decline of the rest of teh Confederacy.
The final faction was lead by the Vervun. A race of short barrel chested humanoids, who have to exist within sealed vaccum suits due to the different environment present on Vervun. They are the most democratic of the Confederacy, their society relies on the planetery republic to make desicions. They regulate much of the trade fleets within the Confederacy, providing much of the finacial support to the various civilisations. Because of this service, they are the wealthiest nation in the Confederacy and also the most devious. The current president of the Confederacy council hails from Vervun, mainly due to visicous bribes and trade boycotts commited by his home civilisation. The Vervun control the trade with an iron fist. The great inteligence possessed by the Vervun makes them exellent negociators and diplomats. Unlike the Tiresians they work for the furtherment of the Vervun Republic and not the good of the confederacy.
All this unrest has come to a head and the election of the Confederacy's ruling body. All the council members and their entourages have gathered on the first world and the council is about to begin. The tension in the air is palpable, and everyone knows that something is going to happen. One of the main factions is likely to size power.
At the current time, the Confederacy is in the midst of a finacial crisis. All three factions are worried that the other will double cross them. The interlinked nature of the Confederacy mean that each faction gains much by an alliance with the other. The Vervun are afraid that the Navarre will steal their resources, whilst the Tyresians fear the Vervun cutting off their supplies. The Navarre fear the loss of vital ships to fuel their fleets preventing them from efficient millitary action.
As the election draws near, piracy on Vervun ships within the confederacy increases. When the Vervun strike out and capture one of the pirates, they discover a letter of marque issued by the Navarre to the pirate. This sparks a diplomatic turf war. The Vervun contact the Tiresians secretly, proposing sanctions on the number of ships supplied to the Navarre. The Navarre see this as a move to weaken their hold on the Confederacy's military and begin to secretly upgrade their current ships incase of conflict. Tensions are rising. The powder kegg that is the Confederacy is about to explode.
You play a dignatary of one of the three major factions. the Navarre will be military related, The Tiresians will be Diplomats and the Vervun are likely to be finacial advisers. The RP will begin at a diplomatic function and you should attempt to secure your factions postition as leader of the senate by any means nessessary. Ancillary Stuff about the technology and ships used by the three factions can be foundhere

"Bring up the visual in my room." Shlaan had seen pictures of the planet but seeing it up close while approaching was something entirely different. "Geez there's a lot of water" he said. Even though he was an accomplished merchant he was still young and these kinds of things slipped out once in awhile.
Shlaan grabbed some paper work, and started looking over any notable names and faces and looked into their backgrounds to see if there was anything useful he might be able to use. Or if there were people he should weary of or people that he should manipulate. "Aaah so many choices. Oooo this one is a pretty thing" as he looked at a Nevarre woman who was a well respected diplomat. "I wonder if she will be here, or if she is elsewhere trying to create a peaceful confederation again."
Shlaan sipped some Graklen tea as he went over other names and faces.

He moved to enter the ship, wondering if whoever was selling the parts might be willing to give him a good offer. Either that or he would steal them, either way he intended to get the parts he required. He knocked heavily upon the door of the ship, each knock would echo throughout the interior. Then without even waiting for a response he shot the lock and pushed the door open and as it connected with the ships interior it made a loud metallic clang.

So it was that a foul tempered Tiresian CEO pulled out of slipspace three days late. "Captain, we've arrived at our destination." chimed the computer
"I'm aware of that. Get us docked quickly, they will have already started without me." he answered with a heavy sigh, before moving into the next room to download the latest translation software onto his drone. He had just finished when there was a reverberating thud throughout the ship, indicating they'd docked. Now all he had to do was survive the conference...
